RESUMO

The aim of the study was to determine leukocyte content in oral fluid of children with chronic catarrhal gingivitis (CCG) living in polluted areas with fluoride and iodine deficiency. The study comprised 120 children aged 7, 12 15 years residing in ecologically unfavorable areas of Lviv region and 80 children living in 'conditionally clean' region were included as controls. CCG was diagnosed using the NF Danilevskiy classification (1994) in all surveyed. The level of leucocytes in oral liquid of 7-years-old children living in ecologically polluted region (EPR) was 1.4 times more than their peers from the conditionally clean region (CCR) 198.19±4.11)·106/l and (141.09±4.10)·106/l, correspondingly (p<0.01). In 12 years-old from EPR leukocytes number in oral fluid was 1.3 times higher than in children living in CCR ((246.81±4.16)·106/l against (190.02±4.11)·106/l, p<0.01 respectively). Further increase of leucocytes numbers was observed at the age of 15 in children of EPR (297.53±4.15)·106/l, which was 1.2 times higher than their peers, living in favorable environmental conditions (p<0.01). The age-dependent increase of leucocytes numbers in oral fluid is noted in children with CCG living in ecologically polluted region relatively to the data in children from conditionally 'clean' region.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to estimate the permanent teeth enamel resistance of 7, 12 and 15-year-old children with different emotional state. Among children with caries-resistant and caries-susceptible enamel the low level of situational anxiety was registered in 49.34±2.13% and 31.52±2.45% of cases, correspondently (p<0.05), while the number of children with high situational anxiety was almost five times more in the group of caries-susceptible enamel than in children with caries-resistant and conditionally resistant enamel (p<0.001). Moderate anxiety level was revealed in 49.32±1.45% of children with caries resistant enamel which is significantly less than in the group of children with caries-susceptible enamel (p<0.05). Low level of personal anxiety in children with caries-susceptible enamel was three times less comparing with caries-resistant children (p<0.05). The study revealed correlation of anxiety level and caries resistance in children which underlines the need for further studies on anxiety impact on dental caries development and prevention programs choice.

RESUMO

According to a survey of 292 children of 7, 12 and 15 years from Lviv it was assessed the resistance of enamel of permanent teeth by various somatic diseases. Caries susceptible enamel was most frequently revealed in children with gastrointestinal diseases and allergic diseases (66.67±12.17 and 83.33±10.76%, respectively), as well as endocrine disorders (55.00±7.87%). In children with musculoskeletal system diseases caries resistant and conditionally caries resistant enamel (23.08±8.26 and 26.92±8.70%) was seen two times less than caries susceptible enamel (50.00±9.81%, p1<0.001, p2<0,001). The findings suggest that the somatic pathology reduced structural and functional resistance of enamel, which leads to lower resistance of dental hard tissues under the influence of cariogenic factors.

RESUMO

The dental hard tissues state was evaluated by SIC index according to a survey of the 5-16-year-old children from Lviv. The highest SIC index of the primary teeth was estimated in children of 6 years old (9.91±0.40) and the highest mean of the SIC index of the permanent teeth (9.40±0.36) was estimated in 16-year-old children. It was established that SIC of the permanent teeth in children of 6-9 years old is higher than the average caries intensity in 2.1-2.94 times, indicating the need for a more thorough approach to cariespreventive work among schoolchildren of this age.
