RESUMO

The state-of-the-art review of literature on existing views on the association of periodontal diseases with somatic therapeutic pathology (first part of the review) and comorbid conditions (second part of the review) is submitted. The conclusion about need of carrying out the further multicenter researches which purpose is development of new integrated indicators, in a complex and comprehensively characterizing not only the periodontal status, but also set of available somatic therapeutic pathology, especially at pa- tients of advanced and senile age is drawn.

RESUMO

The activities of the main digestive hydrolases were comparatively studied in bream infected and noninfected with cestodes Caryophyllaeus laticeps (Pallas, 1781). It was shown that enzyme activities are distributed in the fish intestine in an irregular manner; the gradient of protease and lipase activities along the gut is presented. Following the infection of bream by cestodes, the activities of the studied enzymes decreased and the percentages of activities of various proteinase subclasses changed. No relation between the distribution of worms along the intestine and the levels of activities of digestive hydrolases was revealed.

RESUMO

Original version of intraosseous plate implant of beam type was elaborated intended for patients with end dentition defects, fool absence of teeth on maxilla with sharp reduction of alveolar process. On the stage of working out the distribution of deflected mode status developed in jaw bone structures under the influence of alternate loads on the system implant-prosthetic device was studied. In the period from 1995 to 2003 to 143 patients with partial or full loss of teeth and sharp reduction of maxilla alveolar process 205 intraosseous beam type implants were installed. Depending upon clinical situation beam type implants were consolidated with prosthetic construction and with natural teeth or intraosseous implants of stem type placed in front portion of alveolar process. 5-year survival of beam implants was equal to 70% and 10-year survival - 50%. Authors consider that beam implants can be used in practice since technique of their use comparative simple, the cost of surgical stage of treatment is lower than the alveoloplasty cost with several stem implants.

RESUMO

68 patients in the age of 32-83 years (middle age 61.83 +/- 14.73 year) with the diagnosis acute odontogenic periostitis of jaw before treatment (at height of acuteness) and on a background of the complex treatment which include Xefocam were examined. It is shown, that treatment with addition of Xefocam accelerates regress of an inflammation and a stage of recovery. High analgetic activity of Xefocam at this pathology was revealed. The greatest efficiency of this drug is marked in group of patients of elderly and senile age. The opportunity of definition the Melatonin concentration in a saliva as marker of speed of inflammatory process regress is shown. The high level of Melatonin concentration in a saliva at peak of an inflammation is significant prognostic criterion of outcome of disease. The high level of Melatonin in saliva at the patients of advanced age who has survived in the childhood the siege of Leningrad in comparison with patients of similar age, who was not exposed in the childhood by multifactor stress impact influence, is revealed more.

RESUMO

The results of the clinical studies indicate that DNAase treatment of the patients with maxillofacial abscesses and phlegmons increases the effect of antibacterial therapy. During microbiologic testing in the patients treated with DNAase together with antibacterial therapy it was recorded a marked decrease in the plating of bacteria. This effect is supposed to be connected with enzyme ability to penetrate into microbial biofilms and disturb microbial interactions.

RESUMO

A retrospective analysis of case histories of 110 patients subjected to reconstructive surgery for occlusion abnormalities was carried out. The data indicate that complete correspondence of teleroentgenography to planned treatment was observed in only 34.5% cases; this correspondence was partial in 48.3% cases, and in 17.2% patients planned treatment did not correspond to the pathogenesis of the abnormality at all. The majority of patients in whom the diagnosis was in complete disagreement with planned treatment were subjected to maxillary osteotomy for mesial occlusion. This choice was based on esthetic preferences of the patient and stability of the results.

RESUMO

We propose a new method of preventing infectious and inflammatory complications of mandibular fractures crossing the dental arch. The method was based on regional lymphotropic administration of antibacterial drugs to the mastoid region of the temporal bone. This technique was applied in combined therapy of 51 patients. Comparative analysis with the control group revealed high efficacy of the given method. Basing upon clinical experience we worked out indications to the regional lymphotropic antibacterial therapy as a part of complex prophylaxis of posttraumatic mandible osteomyelitis.

RESUMO

A total of 370 lateral roentgenograms of the cervical part of the spine of children and adolescents of both sexes aged 6-18 years are analyzed. Time course of changes in the vertebrae is described on the basis of statistical data processing. Classification of stages in formation of vertebral apophyses is created. The authors prove impossibility of using cervical vertebrae for quantitative evaluation of the growth potential. A method for qualitative rapid diagnosis of biological age is proposed.

RESUMO

The paper discusses the results of an investigation of cysteine cathepsin H levels in preneoplastic lesions and tumors of the oral cavity as measured in tissue bioptates and blood plasma. Changes in the levels at different stages have been followed and relevant differences in different groups of patients established.

RESUMO

The method of spatial appreciation of mandibular structure on the basis of straight and lateral cephalogram is proposed. Asymmetry is appraised by comparison of its right and left side. The analysis is based on linear and corner sizes. Possibilities and perspectives of present line of research are outlined.

RESUMO

The possibility of the existence of a new type of ionotropic glutamate receptor differing from NMDA and non-NMDA receptors was confirmed by cloning cDNA for XenNR1, a channel-forming subunit of the glutamate receptor from the Xenopus laevis brain. Cotransfection of the HEK-293 cells with the cDNAs for XenNR1 and XenU1 (a non-NMDA receptor subunit from X. laevis brain) resulted in the biosynthesis of a functionally active heterosubunit receptor composed of NMDA and non-NMDA subunits. The functional co-expression of the XenNR1 and XenU1 cDNAs is the first direct evidence for the existence of a new type of glutamate receptor.

RESUMO

The plastic properties of the greater omentum cannot be used to a full measure in the existing methods of closure of perforating ulcers. The authors suggest a method of plastic repair of gastric and duodenal perforations with the greater omentum using a metal design with shape storage. The plastic properties of the greater omentum are used fully in the suggested method. The supply of blood in the area of the omentum placed into the stomach is maintained for 2-3 days after the operation. And later the blood supply to the region of the ulcerous defect improves due to the formation of anastomoses between the vessels of the omentum and the stomach. The obturation of the perforation is more reliable in this method than in Oppel-Polikarpov's method. The suggested method was tested in experiments with good results.
