RESUMO

Exosomes derived from solid tumour cells are involved in immune suppression, angiogenesis and metastasis; however, the role of leukaemia-derived exosomes has less been investigated. Hence, changes in immune response-related genes and human T cells apoptosis co-incubated with exosomes isolated from patients' pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia were evaluated in this in vitro study. Vein blood sample was obtained from each newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) patient prior any therapy. ALL serum exosomes were isolated by ultrafiltration and characterized using Western blotting and transmission electron microscopy. Exosomes were then co-incubated with T lymphocytes and the gene expressions, as well as functions of human T cells were quantified by qRT-PCR. Apoptosis and caspase-3 and caspase-9 protein expression were also evaluated by flowcytometry and Western blotting analysis, respectively. Exosomes isolated from ALL patients affected T lymphocytes and elevated the apoptosis. Moreover, these exosomes altered the T cells profile into regulatory type by increasing the expression of FOXP3 and Tregs-related cytokines, including TGF-B and IL-10. The expression level of Th17-related transcription factors (RoRγt) and interleukins (IL-17 and IL-23) decreased after this treatment. According to our findings, exosomes derived from ALL patients' sera carry immunosuppressive molecules, indicating the possible effect of exosomes as liquid biomarkers for cancer staging.

RESUMO

Bathing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a stressful experience to preterm infants. Reducing this stress is an important challenge in bathing preterm infants. The aim of present study was to evaluate the effects of maternal supportive interventions on the stress caused by swaddled bathing in preterm infants. In this randomized clinical trial, 48 preterm infants randomly allocated into control and intervention groups. In intervention group the mothers were asked to initiate multisensory supportive interventions 5 min before and through swaddled bathing. In controls the mothers were only present during bathing. To determine the level of stress, infant responses were recorded by camera 5 min before bathing and 5 min after bathing. Then infants' stress measured by using Newborn Stress Scale (NSS). Finding was shown that the level of stress in control group was especially increased after bathing that was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Although there was an increase in stress among interventions but it was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Considering the positive effects of multisensory interventions in decreasing the stress of preterm infants, it can be recommended as cost-free and non-pharmacological care during infants bathing.

RESUMO

There are varieties of wideband direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms. Their structure comprises a number of narrowband ones, each performs in one frequency in a given bandwidth, and then different responses should be combined in a proper way to yield true DOAs. Hence, wideband algorithms are always complex and so non-real-time. This paper investigates a method to derive a flat response of narrowband multiple signal classification (MUSIC) [R. O. Schmidt, IEEE Trans. Antennas Propag., 34, 276-280 (1986)] algorithm in the whole frequencies of given band. Therefore, required conditions of applying narrowband algorithm on wideband impinging signals will be given through a concrete analysis. It could be found out that array sensor locations are able to compensate the frequency variations to reach a flat response of DOAs in a specified wideband frequency.
