RESUMO

Objective: Jatyadi thailam, an Ayurvedic preparation, is renowned for its efficacy in diabetic wound healing and inflammation. This study aimed to validate and compare the diabetic wound-healing potential of two Jatyadi thailam formulations - Ayurvedic formulary of India Jatyadi thailam (JT-AFI) and Yogagrantha formulation of Jatyadi thailam (JT-YG), in a diabetic environment using L929 fibroblast cells in vitro. Methodology: The effects on cell survival, proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, cell cycle progression, apoptosis, ROS generation, and mitochondrial function were evaluated. Results: The formulations promoted cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, while also regulating cell cycle and apoptosis. They effectively suppressed ROS generation and modulated mitochondrial function. JT-AFI exhibited superior efficacy in accelerating diabetic wound healing compared to JT-YG.Conclusion: These findings provide substantial support for the mechanistic role of Jatyadi thailam in diabetic wound healing.

RESUMO

Polyacrylonitrile was grafted to Ipomoea hederacea (Ih) seed gum with 138.5% grafting yield and 43.55% grafting efficiency in a procedure that was performed under homogeneous microwave (MW) irradiation conditions for 70s in the absence of a radical initiator. Under similar conditions, a maximum grafting yield of 108% and 33.96% efficiency was achieved when the K2S2O8/ascorbic acid redox system was used as a radical initiator in a thermostatic water bath at 35 °C. The effects of reaction variables, such as monomer/Ih seed gum concentration, MW power, and exposure time on the graft copolymerization were studied. The partially hydrolyzed graft copolymer (H-Ih-g-PAN) formed a loose, porous surface and improved the water absorbency of Ih seed gum. The swelling behavior of H-Ih-g-PAN in various ionic salt (NaCl, MgCl2 and Na2SO4) solutions was also systematically investigated. The graft copolymer was further characterized using FTIR, TGA, XRD, and SEM.

RESUMO

In a sol-gel process, gum acacia inspired silica xerogels have been synthesized from tetraethylorthosilicate. Besides showing photoluminescence under ultraviolet excitation, the hybrid xerogels were very efficient in capturing mercury(II) from synthetic solution. To synthesize the optimum sample (in terms of Hg(II) uptake), different ratios of H(2)O:TEOS:EtOH were taken at fixed GA and catalyst concentrations where 4:1:1 ratio was found to be most favorable. Calcination in air further enhanced the mercury binding capacity of this sample. Optimum sample (H4) was obtained on calcination of the gel at 600°C. The hybrids have been structurally characterized using Infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, thermo gravimetric analysis, photoluminescence spectroscopy and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis. In a preliminary batch adsorption experiment, H4 was evaluated to be highly efficient in the removal Hg(II) from synthetic aqueous solution.
