RESUMO

A TiO2/graphene quantum dots composite (TiO2/GQDs) obtained by in situ synthesis of GQDs, derived from coffee grounds, and peroxo titanium complexes was used as electrode modifier in the simultaneous electrochemical determination of uric acid and hypoxanthine. The TiO2/GQDs material was characterized by photoluminescence, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray mapping. The TiO2/GQDs-GCE exhibits better electrochemical activity for uric acid and hypoxanthine than GQDs/GCE or TiO2/GCE in differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) measurements. Under optimized conditions, the calibration plots were linear in the range from 1.00 to 15.26 µM for both uric acid and hypoxanthine. The limits of detection of this method were 0.58 and 0.68 µM for uric acid and hypoxanthine, respectively. The proposed DPV method was employed to determine uric acid and hypoxanthine in urine samples with acceptable recovery rates.

RESUMO

A simple approach was developed to synthesize cobalt ferrite nanoparticles/graphene quantum dots (CF/GQDs). The material was prepared from a homogeneous mixture of iron nitrate, cobalt nitrate, and starch at 140, 180 and 200 °C in a 24 h thermal hydrolysis process. The obtained materials were characterised by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, vibrating-sample magnetometry, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. Cobalt ferrite crystals of around 8-10 nm and graphene quantum dots formed directly at 200 °C. Stacking GQDs sheets onto the CF nanoparticles resulted in CF/GQDs nanoparticles. The nanocomposite exhibits satisfactory fluorescent and superparamagnetic properties, which are vital for catalytic applications. The CF/GQDs catalyse significantly the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light. The catalyst can be recycled with an external magnetic field and displays suitable stability. Also, it was reused in three successive experiments with a loss of efficiency of about 5%. The CF/GQDs are considered as an efficient photocatalyst for MB degradation and other dyes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Maxillary Lefort I osteotomy, mandibular bilateral sagittal split ramus was frequently used in correcting skeletal class III malocclusion. There was a lack of research on class III malocclusion patients' quality of life (QoL) after bimaxillary osteotomy. AIM: Class I Intermaxillary relationship was achieved, aesthetic was significantly improved. Significant improvement in Class III skeletal patients' quality of life was acquired. The achievement of harmonious face would be beneficial to the facial aesthetics of patients, thus improving the quality of life. METHODS: Harmonious face index is an effective criterion in assessing the surgery's outcome. In this study was conducted on 30 patients at Hanoi National Hospital of Odontostomatology, Viet Duc Hospital, and Hong Ngoc Hospital from April 2017 to April 2018, and it was a quasi-experimental study with self-comparison, 12 months follow up. RESULTS: Orthognathic surgery effectively corrected malocclusion crossbite, dental compensation, and helped to improve facial aesthetics. 100% of patients had the quality of life improved, good quality of life consisted of 86.7%. In comparison with a harmonious facial index of Kinh ethnic in Vietnam, 70% of patients achieved skeletal harmony, 63.3% of patients achieved dental harmony, 80% achieved soft tissue harmony. CONCLUSIONS: Vietnamese harmonious facial index should be used in planning and pre-surgical simulation.

RESUMO

ABSTRACTThis work studied the amplification, cloning and determination of the GmDREB2 gene from the soybean cultivar DT2008 and five Vietnamese local soybean cultivars (DT26, DT51, DVN5, CB, CBD) and designed the vector carrying the structure containing GmDREB2 gene from cultivar DT2008 (best drought tolerant). The coding region of GmDREB2 gene isolated from six soybean cultivars was 480 nucleotides in length, encoding 159 amino acids. The recombinant structure was designed as 35S- GmDREB2- c-myc and its expression was analysed in transgenic tobacco plants. Recombinant DREB2 protein was expressed in five transgenic tobacco lines with molecular weights close to 20 kDa. During the drought conditions, the proline accumulation of the transgenic tobacco lines was higher than on wild-type (WT) plants, with the rate from 211.17 to 332.44% after five days of drought stress, and from 262.79 to 466.04% after nine days of drought stress. The two lines, TG2 and TG12 had the highest increase rate. These results provided the basis to generate drought-tolerant soybean plants by GmDREB2 overexpression.
