RESUMO

The semi-/intermediate volatile organic compound (S/IVOCs) emissions inventory of Jiangsu province was established in 2019 using the activity data of various S/IVOCs emission sources, emission factors, and an estimation method. S/IVOCs emissions for each source and city in Jiangsu province were analyzed. The total amount of S/IVOCs emissions in Jiangsu province in 2019 was 637.31 Gg. Industrial sources were the major source of total S/IVOCs emissions accounting for 63.42% (404.20 Gg), followed by residential on-road mobile sources (22.23%), and off-road mobile sources accounted for the least (0.06%). Suzhou had the highest S/IVOCs emissions in 2019, accounting for 25.40% (161.86 Gg) of the total S/IVOCs emissions in Jiangsu province. The S/IVOCs emission intensity per unit area in Suzhou was the highest, reaching 18.70 t·km-2, and the emission intensity per unit GDP was the highest in Lianyungang (22.45 t·100 million yuan-1). The spatial distribution map revealed that S/IVOCs emissions in southern Jiangsu were relatively higher. The difference in the total emission of S/IVOCs, emission intensity per unit area, and emission intensity per unit of GDP were quite different among cities. The uncertainty range of S/IVOCs emissions was -88.46%-224.38% in Jiangsu province in 2019. The uncertainty range of biomass burning sources was the largest (-96.40%-277.17%).

RESUMO

Multi stimuli-responsive aggregation-induced emission (AIE) active polymers have great application prospects in high-tech innovations. Herein, three types of tetraphenylethylene (TPE)-containing monomers were synthesized and utilized in preparing TPE-appended maleic anhydride terpolymers. After hydrolysis, the produced TPE-appended maleic acid terpolymers have identical linear charge densities but different "primary" structures, which created widely varied microenvironments around the carboxylate and TPE groups. Benefiting from the synergistic interaction of the TPE moiety and the terpolymer conformation change, the TPE-appended maleic acid terpolymers exhibited fluorescence changes in response to multi stimuli, including pH, ionic strength, Ca2+, and bovine serum albumin. On both the "signaling" and the "stimuli acceptor" sides, the multi stimuli-responsive fluorescence behavior was influenced markedly by the terpolymer primary structure. The fundamental insights gained in the present work are important for developing an efficient and versatile stimuli-responsive AIE-active polymer platform for chemo-sensing, bioimaging, and so on.

RESUMO

Background@#The purpose of this research was to assess the role of heparanase (HPSE)/syndecan1 (SDC1)erve growth factor (NGF) on cancer pain from melanoma. @*Methods@#The influence of HPSE on the biological function of melanoma cells and cancer pain in a mouse model was evaluated. Immunohistochemical staining was used to analyze HPSE and SDC1. HPSE, NGF, and SDC1 were detected using western blot. Inflammatory factors were detected using ELISA assay. @*Results@#HPSE promoted melanoma cell viability, proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumor growth, as well as cancer pain, while SST0001 treatment reversed the promoting effect of HPSE. HPSE up-regulated NGF, and NGF feedback promoted HPSE. High expression of NGF reversed the inhibitory effect of HPSE down-regulation on melanoma cell phenotype deterioration, including cell viability, proliferation, migration, and invasion. SST0001 down-regulated SDC1 expression. SDC1 reversed the inhibitory effect of SST0001 on cancer pain. @*Conclusions@#The results showed that HPSE promoted melanoma development and cancer pain by interacting with NGF/SDC1. It provides new insights to better understand the role of HPSE in melanoma and also provides a new direction for cancer pain treatment.

RESUMO

Tree mortality is an important ecological process in forests. It is crucial to understand how tree mortality affects spatial patterns and interspecific associations for revealing the mechanisms of tree mortality and community dynamics. We employed the correlation method of spatial point pattern analysis to analyse the variations in spatial patterns and interspecific relations before and after mortality using data obtained from two surveys of a 25 hm2 plot in the Mulun National Natural Reserve, China. The results showed that most species had an aggregated distribution both pre- and post-mortality. The proportion of species with aggregated distribution reduced slightly post-mortality compared with that for pre-mortality. Increases in the number of species with random distribution at small scale indicated that tree death was not random. At the species level, there were significant positive associations between dead and live trees of the 13 common species at different levels of 0-30 m range, suggesting weak intraspecific and interspecific competition among dominant species. Pre- and post-mortality interspecific associations were mostly positive, which remained stable during the period of two surveys for most species, indicating that the community had reached a rather stable stage. Following tree mortality, the number of species with positive associations increased at 1-30 m scales, whereas the number of species with negative and no associations decreased at most scales. These results indicated that the pressure of interspecific competition was relieved to some extent after individual death.

RESUMO

Polymer dielectrics have attracted ever-increasing attention for electrical energy storage applications in recent years. Typically, polymer-based nanocomposite films are adopted to obtain polymer dielectrics with high energy density but sometime suffer from the inhomogeneous distribution of fillers. In this work, enhanced breakdown strength, suppressed dielectric loss and improved energy storage performances of PVDF film are concurrently achieved via the regulation of the sub-nano free volume, without introduction of any kinds of fillers and also minimizing the uneven distribution of the local electric field. The most improved breakdown strength is up to 488 MV m-1, with an enhancement of 60% compared with that of pristine PVDF, which enables the irradiated PVDF film to exhibit an improved polarization strength and charged energy density, giving rise to a maximum polarization strength of 3.55 µC cm-2 and a charged energy density of 9.75 J cm-3. More importantly, the irradiated PVDF film exhibits a superior discharged energy density of 7.91 J cm-3 which is 261% that of the pristine PVDF film, while maintaining the charge-discharge efficiency above 80%. In addition, the alteration of experimental breakdown strength with the increase of irradiation dose is found to be inversely correlated with the size variation of free volume holes, and the theoretical simulation of local electric field distribution further proves that the breakdown strength enhancement originates from the size shrinkage of free volume holes. The adjustment of free volume provides a potentially effective way to regulate the dielectric properties and energy storage performances of dipolar polymers.

RESUMO

The free volume effects on the dielectric properties of the polymer are ambiguous, and the quantitative effect of free volume on the dielectric properties has rarely been systematically studied, especially in the high-elastic state dipolar (HESD) polymer. In this work, the free volume of dipolar poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is regulated by the addition of Al2O3, which greatly increase the size of free volume holes. Then the effect of free volume on the dielectric properties of PVDF/Al2O3 composites is discussed. The greatly enlarged size of free volume holes is believed to potentially generate disparate effects on dielectric constant under different frequencies in such kinds of HESD polymer-based composites, bringing about more remarkable frequency dependence of the dielectric constant. The influence of atomic-scale microstructure based on free volume further clarifies the free volume effects on the dielectric properties and provides valuable insights for the research of dielectric behaviour of polymer composites, which is constructive to design novel dielectric materials and further optimize the dielectric properties of dipolar dielectric polymer composites.

RESUMO

Herpes simplex viruses (HSVs) often cause latent infection for a lifetime, leading to repeated recurrence. HSVs have been engineered as oncolytic HSVs. The mechanism of the latent infection and recurrence remains largely unknown, which brings great challenges and limitations to eliminate HSVs in clinic and engineer safe oHSVs. Here, we systematically reviewed the latest development of the multi-step complex process of HSV latency and reactivation. Significantly, we first summarized the three HSV latent infection pathways, analyzed the structure and expression of the LAT1 and LAT2 of HSV-1 and HSV-2, proposed the regulation of LAT expression by four pathways, and dissected the function of LAT mediated by five LAT products of miRNAs, sRNAs, lncRNAs, sncRNAs and ORFs. We further analyzed that application of HSV LAT deletion mutants in HSV vaccines and oHSVs. Our review showed that deleting LAT significantly reduced the latency and reactivation of HSV, providing new ideas for the future development of safe and effective HSV therapeutics, vaccines and oHSVs. In addition, we proposed that RNA silencing or RNA interference may play an important role in HSV latency and reactivation, which is worth validating in future.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: With the wide application of Scutellaria barbata D. Don for hepatitis and mastitis, its quality control issues have also received increasing attention. Based on the multi-component and multi-target characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, there is an urgent need to establish a quality evaluation system. OBJECTIVES: This study intends to integrate the "quality-activity-quantification" strategy and establish an activity-related quality control method to ensure the safety and effectiveness of S. barbata. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/ion mobility-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC/IM-QTOF-MS) was used to characterize the chemical components of S. barbata, and network pharmacological analysis was carried out on the identified components. The index components were determined on the basis of comprehensive activity prediction results and content information. At the same time, the contents of 16 batches of S. barbata from different origins were determined. RESULTS: A total of 94 compounds were identified according to mass spectrometric data, 12 of which were isolated and structure-confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance technology. Network pharmacological analysis was applied to predict their key targets and the major pathways mediating their anti-inflammatory effects. On the basis of comprehensive activity prediction and content information, five components were chosen as crucial quality indicators of S. barbata, including scutellarin, scutellarein, luteolin, apigenin, and hispidulin. CONCLUSION: In this study, 16 different S. barbata batches were compared, and five quality indicators were determined on the basis of qualitative and activity results. The present study provides useful information for evaluating the quality of S. barbata in different areas, and also provides a new basis for the development of quality evaluation methods.

RESUMO

A novel metal-free all-solid-state z-scheme g-C3N4/NCDs/WOx photocatalyst was fabricated using nitrogen-doped carbon dots (NCDs) as the electron mediator. As-prepared sandwich-structured composites displayed enhanced visible and NIR light photocatalytic activity. Under visible light irradiation, the hydrogen evolution rate reached 3.27 mmol g-1 h-1, which increased to roughly seven times higher than that of pure g-C3N4 and roughly twice that of g-C3N4/NCDs or g-C3N4/WOx binary heterojunctions. The apparent quantum efficiency is 7.58% at 420 nm. The localized surface plasmon resonance effect of WOx and the up-converted photoluminescence property of NCDs enhanced the utilization efficiency of NIR light together. In addition, the matched energy band structures of WOx and g-C3N4 as well as the effective electron conductor (NCDs) between them accelerate electron transfer at the interface. The all-solid-state z-scheme g-C3N4/NCDs/WOx photocatlyst was confirmed by a series of characterizations and experiment results. This report offered new insights into constructing an efficient all-solid-state z-scheme photocatalyst to be applied during the photocatalytic water-splitting reaction in the visible and NIR light regions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To describe the prevalence of modifiable risk factors for upper digestive tract cancer (UDTC) and its coprevalence, and investigate relevant influencing factors of modifiable UDTC risk factors coprevalence among residents aged 40-69 years in Yangzhong city, China. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 21 175 participants aged 40-69 years were enrolled in the study. 1962 subjects were excluded due to missing age, marital status or some other selected information. Eventually, 19 213 participants were available for the present analysis. MAIN OUTCOMES MEASURES: Prevalence and coprevalence of eight modifiable UDTC risk factors (overweight or obesity, current smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, insufficient vegetables intake, insufficient fruit intake and the consumption of pickled, fried and hot food) were analysed. RESULTS: The prevalence of overweight/obesity, current smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, insufficient vegetables intake, insufficient fruit intake and the consumption of pickled, fried and hot food in this study was 45.3%, 24.1%, 16.2%, 66.1%, 94.5%, 68.1%, 36.0% and 88.4%, respectively. Nearly all (99.9%) participants showed one or more UDTC risk factors, 98.6% of the participants showed at least two risk factors, 92.2% of the participants had at least three risk factors and 69.7% of the participants had four or more risk factors. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that men, younger age, single, higher education, higher annual family income and smaller household size were more likely to present modifiable UDTC risk factors coprevalence. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence and coprevalence of modifiable UDTC risk factors are high among participants in Yangzhong city. Extra attention must be paid to these groups who are susceptible to risk factors coprevalence during screening progress. Relative departments also need to make significant public health programmes that aim to decrease modifiable UDTC risk factors coprevalence among residents aged 40-69 years from high-risk areas of UDTC.

RESUMO

A dielectric film with a trilayer structure is fabricated to obtain both a high dielectric constant and superior electrical breakdown strength simultaneously. The outer layers of the trilayered composite film are composed of barium titanate (BTO) particles dispersed in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) to ensure a relatively high dielectric constant, while the central layer of the composite film consists of exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) dispersed in PVDF to provide high electrical breakdown strength. Compared with pristine PVDF, the dielectric constant and breakdown strength are simultaneously enhanced due to the sandwich structure, and the dielectric loss is maintained at a low level. Most important of all, positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) is applied to study the atomic-scale free volume holes of PVDF composite films and the effect of free volume holes on the dielectric constant and breakdown strength. Results show that the size of free volume holes of PVDF increased with the addition of BTO, but it decreased firstly and then increased with the BNNS loading. The correlation between dielectric properties and the size of free volume holes of the PVDF matrix was discussed in each layer. It is illustrated that the experimental dielectric constant of the PVDF/BTO single-layered film is consistent with the theoretical value at a lower BTO loading but smaller than the theoretical value at a higher BTO loading, which is probably ascribed to the increased size of free volume holes. The breakdown strength of the PVDF/BNNS film increased with the introduction of BNNS and the reduced size of free volume holes, which is ascribed to the reduced partial discharge phenomenon. The atomic-scale microstructure analysis based on free volume holes provides valuable ideas and new understanding for the study of the mechanism of the dielectric behaviour of polymer composites.

RESUMO

Ibrutinib is an FDA-approved drug to treat B-lymphoid malignancies, which functions mechanistically as a covalent inhibitor for Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK). During the course of screening more potent and selective BTK inhibitors, we discovered that MM2-48, an ibrutinib analogue that contains the alkynyl amide functional group in place of the acrylamide warhead, exhibits a much stronger cytotoxicity. Comparative chemoproteomic profiling of the targets of ibrutinib and MM2-48 revealed that the alkynyl amide warhead exhibits much higher reactivity in proteomes. Unexpectedly, MM2-48 covalently targets a functional cysteine in a BRCA2 and CDKN1A-interacting protein, BCCIP, and significantly inhibits DNA damage repair. Our findings suggest that simultaneous inhibition of BTK activity and DNA damage repair might be a more effective therapeutic strategy for combating B-cell malignancies.

RESUMO

WO3-x was deposited on TiO2(B) nanosheets prepared using TiCl4 to form layered heterostructures via a two-step solvothermal synthesis, in which the horizontal growth of WO3-x on TiO2(B) nanosheets was carried out using WCl6 and ascorbic acid as a reducer. Optimized preparation conditions allowed WO3-x/TiO2(B) layered heterostructures to be formed. The photo- and electro-chemical properties of layered heterostructures depended strongly on the amount of WO3-x. The WO3-x/TiO2(B) heterostructures demonstrated perfect catalytic performance in full solar-spectrum light and a fast degradation effect for dye and organic colorless pollutant. All target chemicals were degraded within 10 min using WO3-x/TiO2(B) samples as a photo-catalyst in the full solar-spectrum. The photo-assisted production kinetic of Cr(VI) ions were tested. The results indicate that the reproduction rate of Cr(VI) ions using WO3-x/TiO2(B) sample is three times higher than the initial TiO2 nanosheets. The result of the photo current and Mott-Shottky curve indicates that enhanced catalysis activity is ascribed to the surface of the metastable TiO2(B) with Ti3+ defects and oxygen vacancies as active sites for photocatalytic reaction. In addition, the loading of WO3-x greatly broadened the light absorption range of TiO2(B), meaning that the product responded in the full solar spectrum.

RESUMO

N-doped carbon dots (N-Cdots) were prepared via a solvothermal process in different solvents including water, acetone, and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The red-shifted photoluminescence (PL) peaks and prolonged lifetimes were observed in the three excitation-independent samples. Considering that the similar size distribution, these variations of PL properties were mainly attributed to surface states of Cdots. The crucial effect of acetone and DMF as aprotic solvents were proposed because they can not provided hydrogen during the whole reaction process like H2O, and thus the dehydration reaction was accelerated. Much more N elements were introduced into N-Cdots. Except for N-doping, similar reaction were conducted when N and S were introduced into Cdots at the same time. Similar PL behaviour of N,S-co-doped carbon dots (N,S-Cdots) further confirmed above assumption. This work provided a simple method to control the PL behaviour of Cdots, which will have a promising future in the application of bioimaging and other fields.

RESUMO

In this paper, α-Fe2O3 with different morphologies were controllable synthesized via a two-step route using NO3- as a guiding agent. Environmentally friendly hydrothermal reaction was used to synthesize ß-FeOOH with different morphologies. The concentration of sodium nitrate was adjusted to control the shapes and sizes of ß-FeOOH. α-Fe2O3 is obtained via further calcination. By changing the concentration of sodium nitrate, the morphology could be tuned from nanoflowers which were composed by nanorods to single nanorod. The change of morphology is ascribed to the selective adsorption of NO3- which lead to ß-FeOOH to grow along the 〈001〉 direction. At the same time, an aqueous iron chloride was used as the precursor and the effect of ethanol as solvent on the morphology of α-Fe2O3 was investigated. Due to the selective adsorption of ethanol to the iron oxide crystal face, the morphology of α-Fe2O3 changes from the original sphere to the hexagonal nanosheet. Meanwhile, the electrochemical properties of iron oxide with different morphologies and the adsorption properties of Congo red were explored.

RESUMO

The receptor tyrosine kinase Axl is involved in diabetic vascular disease. This study aims to investigate the effect of high glucose on endothelial cells injury and Axl expression in hypoxia condition in vitro, and we present details of the mechanism associated with overexpression of Axl rescue the high glucose injury. Our results showed that high glucose impaired both human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and EAhy926 cells angiogenesis in hypoxia condition. In addition, high glucose inhibits Axl and hypoxia-inducible factor 1-α (HIF-1α) protein expression in hypoxia condition. Axl overexpression significantly reversed endothelial cells dysfunction in high glucose/hypoxia. Furthermore, Axl overexpression in EAhy926 cells increases HIF-1α protein synthesis through PI3K/Akt/mTOR/p70 S6K signal pathway but not Mek/Erk in high glucose/hypoxia condition. This study demonstrates that high glucose can alter Axl signaling and HIF-1α in hypoxia condition. Overexpression of Axl may rescue endothelial cells dysfunction and HIF-1α expression through its downstream signals in high glucose/hypoxia.

RESUMO

The stability of quantum dots (QDs) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solutions plays an important role in the bio-applications. Red-emitting CdTe QDs with high PL efficiency were prepared using thiogliycolic acid as a capping agent. The assembly of the QDs in various buffer components was investigated. Using buffer components such as NaCl, KCl, and phosphate salts as scaffolds, the assembly of CdTe QDs occurred on a slide glass in the re-crystalline process of buffer components. The QDs were homogeneously assembled into the composites with leaf or flake shapes. The result is utilizable for pattern manufacture in applications and domain growth was developed to test the change of photoluminescence (PL) properties and self-assembly of the QDs to form fractal structures. Compared with initial CdTe QD solutions, the PL spectrum of the QDs in the composite is narrowed. The stability test indicated that H2PO-4 and HPO2-4 ions play important roles to decrease the PL of the QDs in PBS buffer solvents.

RESUMO

Nuclear factor 45 (NF-45) has been found to be markedly upregulated in several cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its functions remain unclear. In this study, we confirm that overexpression of NF45 was frequently detected in ESCC tissues and was associated with poor outcome. Overexpression studies revealed that NF-45 promoted cell growth and invasion and upregulated Rac1/Tiam1 signalling via 14-3-3ε protein in ESCC cell lines. This novel mechanism linking upregulated NF45 expression to increased 14-3-3ε/Rac1/Tiam1 signalling and subsequent growth and invasion in ESCC may aid in identification of new therapeutic targets for this disease.
