RESUMO

ObjectiveTo analyze the mental health status and its influencing factors in middle school students under the regular prevention and control of COVID-19, so as to provide references for the intervention and management of their mental health problems. MethodsFrom March 7 to 21, 2021, a stratified random sampling method was used to select 19 352 students from 17 schools in 3 districts and 9 counties of Linyi City, Shandong Province. Basic data were collected through a self-designed questionnaire. All students completed the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) to assess their mental health status. Then the factors affecting the mental health status of middle school students were screened using independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA test and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results① A total of 6 350 (32.81%) middle school students were found to have mental health problems. ② Each SCL-90 factor score and total average score yielded statistical difference among middle school students of different genders, relationships with classmate, closeness to friends, concerns about the epidemic, and pressure exerted by schoolwork (P<0.01). Each SCL-90 factor score and total average score of middle school students were significant different in terms of the hours of smartphone usage for recreation per day, sleep duration per night in hours and exercise frequency (P<0.01). ③ Multiple stepwise regression analysis denoted that female gender, poor relationship with classmate, no close friend and long hours of smartphone usage for recreation were the risk factors for mental health of middle school students (β=0.096, 0.183, 0.064, 0.232, P<0.01). ConclusionThe prevalence rate of mild mental health problems is quite high among middle school students under the regular epidemic prevention and control. Additionally, female gender, poor relationship with classmate, no close friend and long hours of smartphone usage for recreation have a negative impact on middle school students' mental health.

RESUMO

BackgroundCoronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19) has developed into a global pandemic. It is essential to investigate the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 and uncover potential risk factors for severe disease to reduce the overall mortality rate of COVID-19. MethodsSixty-one critical COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and 93 severe non-ICU patients at Huoshenshan Hospital (Wuhan, China) were included in this study. Medical records, including demographic, platelet counts, heparin-involved treatments, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia-(HIT) related laboratory tests, and fatal outcomes of COVID-19 patients were analyzed and compared between survivors and nonsurvivors. FindingsSixty-one critical COVID-19 patients treated in ICU included 15 survivors and 46 nonsurvivors. Forty-one percent of them (25/61) had severe thrombocytopenia, with a platelet count (PLT) less than 50x109/L, of whom 76% (19/25) had a platelet decrease of >50% compared to baseline; 96% of these patients (24/25) had a fatal outcome. Among the 46 nonsurvivors, 52{middle dot}2% (24/46) had severe thrombocytopenia, compared to 6{middle dot}7% (1/15) among survivors. Moreover, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) could induce a significant decrease in PLT in 81{middle dot}3% of critical CRRT patients (13/16), resulting in a fatal outcome. In addition, a high level of anti-heparin-PF4 antibodies, a marker of HIT, was observed in most ICU patients. Surprisingly, HIT occurred not only in patients with heparin exposure, such as CRRT, but also in heparin-naive patients, suggesting that spontaneous HIT may occur in COVID-19. InterpretationAnti-heparin-PF4 antibodies are induced in critical COVID-19 patients, resulting in a progressive platelet decrease. Exposure to a high dose of heparin may trigger further severe thrombocytopenia with a fatal outcome. An alternative anticoagulant other than heparin should be used to treat COVID-19 patients in critical condition. RESUMO

An excessive immune response contributes to SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and lethality, but the mechanism remains unclear. In this study, the N proteins of SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 were found to bind to MASP-2, the key serine protease in the lectin pathway of complement activation, resulting in aberrant complement activation and aggravated inflammatory lung injury. Either blocking the N protein:MASP-2 interaction or suppressing complement activation can significantly alleviate N protein-induced complement hyper-activation and lung injury in vitro and in vivo. Complement hyper-activation was also observed in COVID-19 patients, and a promising suppressive effect was observed when the deteriorating patients were treated with anti-C5a monoclonal antibody. Complement suppression may represent a common therapeutic approach for pneumonia induced by these highly pathogenic coronaviruses. One Sentence SummaryThe lectin pathway of complement activation is a promising target for the treatment of highly pathogenic coronavirus induced pneumonia.

RESUMO

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of serum exosomal miRNAs,originating from tumor tissue cells, could be used as noninvasive biomarker for distinguishing clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).Methods 30 pairs of tissue samples and the corresponding serum samples were collected from 20 ccRCC male patients and 10 female ccRCC patients, operated in our department from June 2015 to June 2016.Their age ranged from 45 to 70 years old, mean 57 years old.Based on the miRNA microarray analysis of ccRCCs miRNA expression profiles,we picked up four miRNAs,including miR-210,miR-224,miR-452,and miR-34a,to confirm our hypothesis. Then the expression quantity of these four miRNAs in tissues, serums and serum exosomes were analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).Sensitivity,specificity and area under curve (AUC) for serum miRNA levels were determined using receiver operator characteristic (ROC) analysis. Results Expression of miR-210,miR-224,and miR-452 were higher in tumor tissues compared to those in adjacent noncancerous tissues (P<0.05),increasing by 20.51-fold,54.08-fold and 2.48-fold respectively. But only miR-210 was significantly higher in ccRCC patients compared to healthy controls (HCs) in serum and serum exosome (P <0.05),increasing by 2.45-fold and 2.32-fold respectively.ROC curve analysis indicated that the serum exosomal miR-210 level might serve as a useful biomarker for differentiating patients with ccRCC from those with HCs;the AUC was 0.8789 (95% CI 0.7803-0.9775) and the sensitivity and specificity was 92.1% and 80.0%,respectively.Conclusion The detection of miR-210 in the serum exosome is useful for early diagnosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the facilitative mechanism of the behavioral improvement resulting from gaming experience in internet gaming addicts. Methods Seventeen gaming addicts and twenty normal subjects were involved in the study, and their behavioral performance were evaluated by using the revised paradigm of event-related design. Results 1. Mean reaction times (RTs) under valid and invalid cue conditions were ( (614.27 ± 85.25)ms,(645.4±80.24)ms)and ((710.24 ± 131.42)ms,(765.53 ± 142. 53)ms) respectively. There were statistically significant differences of mean RTs within each group (P < 0. 05 ) and between the two groups (P < 0.01 ). 2. There were statistically significant differences of mean RTs on three cue levels between addiction group (online game picture(643.65 ±90.82) ms,neutral face picture(616. 73 ±82. 19)ms,neutral picture(629. 21 ± 78.20)ms) and control group(game picture (744. 54 ± 140. 42) ms, neutral face picture ( 727. 98 ± 142.26)ms, neutral picture(741. 13 ±138. 21)ms, P<0.05).3. There were statistically significant differences on trends of mean RTs on three cue levels of addiction group between valid cue condition ( online game picture (619. 02 ± 91.00) ms,neutral face picture (604.90 ±90. 71 )ms,neutral picture (618.87 ±77.85)ms) and invalid cue con-dition( online game picture ( 668. 28 ± 86. 27 ) ms, neutral face picture ( 628. 56 ± 73. 53 ) ms, neutral picture (639.54 ±79. 54) ms, P<0. 05). Conclusion Both exogenous and endogenous attention orientation are improved in internet gaming addicts. Enhancement of endogenous attention function resulting from gaming experience might be greater than that of exogenous attention.
