A study of the peroxidation of lipids of erythrocytic membranes and blood plasma, antioxidant activity of the blood plasma in 59 patients with hypertensive disease revealed that the initial stages of the disease exacerbation increase of the antioxidant activity is caused by an intensification of peroxidation of cell membrane lipids. A less distinct increase of the antioxidant activity during remission may be due to changes of the blood plasma lipid composition.

[Isoelectric focusing characteristics of the serum albumin of heterosis hybrid chicken]. / Osobennosti struktury syvorotochnogo al'bumina geterozisnykh gibridov kur po dannym izoélektrofokusirovaniia.

Using isoelectrical focusing, studies have been made on native and heat denatured plasma albumin in two breeds of hens and in their hybrid. Analysis of isoelectrical spectra indicates that hybrid albumin is more heterogeneous and exhibits a shift of pJ value for the main component to more acid pH values as compared with the protein of the paternal breed; with respect to these properties, hybrid protein is more close to maternal one. Albumin of the hybrids exhibits higher stability to heat denaturation, being similar in this respect also to the maternal protein.

[Comparative characteristics of the protein composition of the liver of heterosis hybrid chick embryos]. / Sravnitel'naia kharakteristika belkovogo sostava pecheni émbrionov geterozisnykh gibridov kur.

To reveal the peculiarities of the development of biosynthetic function of the liver, comparative morphological study of this organ was made together with electrophoretic analysis of water-soluble proteins from the liver of initial breeds and their hybrids at various stages of embryogenesis. The data obtained indicate that at final stages of embryogenesis the growth of the liver in hybrids is more intensive, the size of the liver at hatching being larger in the hybrids as compared to that in the initial breeds. Protein composition of the liver in hybrid embryos to the moment of hatching is similar to that in the adult organism. Total protein content and the content of separate fractions in hybrids are higher than in either of the parental breed, being usually more similar to those found in the maternal breed.

Isoelectrofocusing and infrared spectroscopy were used to study blood serum and liver albumins in rats aged 30, 45, 90 days, 6 months and 2 years. The analysis of infrared and isoelectric spectra shows that the blood serum albumin as compared to the liver albumin is more basic albumin with a less hard structure. With age theses albumins are found to become similar. An assumption is advanced that a modified albumin participates in the processes of this albumin decay and synthesis.

Protein composition of the blood serum in chick embryos of two breeds and in their hybrids has been investigated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Significant changes in the proportion of protein components of pre-albumin, albumin and post-albumin zones during prenatal development of chicks were observed. These changes are alleviated in hybrid embryos. The decrease in protein content of post-albumin zone, which contains foetoproteins, takes place to the end of incubation. This decrease is less significant in hybrid chicks as compared to that in the original hen breeds.

Studies have been made on the amino acid composition of electrophoretically homogeneous albumin and its main isoelectrically homogeneous fraction in two strains of hens and their hybrid. Serum albumin of hen and hybrid is characterized by higher total content of Asp and Glu residues as compared with that of the cock (137, 121, and 116 respectively) and lower content of Lys (59 against 66). The acidity of albumin increases in the line cock-hen-hybrid. With respect to its amino acid composition, the maternal serum albumin stands close to the hybrid one.

Studies have been made on the molecular weight, solubility, electrophoretic mobility, isoelectric point and N-terminal fragments containing 4 amino acids of the serum albumin in two strains of hens and their hybrids. In all the animals studied, the albumin had Asp as the N-terminal amino acid. Amino acid sequence in the 4-acid fragments was also identical: NH2--Asp--Ala--His--Lys. With respect to all the physico-chemical parameters investigated (except isoelectric point), proteins of the parental strains and of their hybrids did not exhibit significant differences.
