RESUMO
La arteritis temporal o de células gigantes es una inflamación arterial que cursa con cefalea e hipersensibilidad del cuero cabelludo, entre otras formas de presentación. Se presentó el caso de un paciente masculino de 64 años de edad con antecedentes personales de hipertensión arterial que acudió a consulta pues desde hacía varios meses, venía presentando cefalea en región temporo-parietal a predominio derecho que se intensificaba al acostarse unido a lagrimeo del ojo homónimo, con hipersensibilidad a la palpación del cuero cabelludo y aumento de volumen de las arterias temporales superficiales, con velocidad de sedimentación normal lo cual se ha descrito en la literatura solo en un 5,4 por ciento de los casos; se realizó biopsia de la arteria temporal superficial derecha que fue compatible con arteritis temporal, se realizó TAC craneal que descartó proceso expansivo intracraneal como causa de la cefalea. Se indicó tratamiento con prednisona con buena respuesta(AU)

It is presented a patient masculine of 64 years old who hadpersonal antecedent of higher blood pressure, he went to the doctor because some months ago he suffered from a bad headache in the temporal-parietal region and when he went to sleep it was more intense, at the same time he presented tearing on his right eye with scalp hypersensibility and volume increase of the temporal arteries, with the normal erythrocytesedimentation velocity which is describe only in literature in a 5,4 percent of the cases, we performed abiopsy of the right superficial temporal artery, CT scan was performed that discarded an intracranial expansive process as the cause of the headache.It was treated with prednisone with good answer(EU)
