RESUMO
A 66-year-old man with acquired sideroblastic anaemia and Sézary syndrome is described. This is believed to be the first such case reported in the literature. We speculate on the possibility that a common stem cell defect could account for the simultaneous development of the two abnormalities. Other features of this case of Sézary syndrome are discussed in relation to previous reports on patients with this disease.

Proteinuria and the nephrotic syndrome are well known to occur as complications of penicillamine therapy, but reports of penicillamine-induced pemphigus have been relatively few. This is the report of a case in which both complications occurred simultaneously.

A Porto-jet injector was employed to treat forty-five cases of granuloma annulare and five cases of necrobiosis lipoidica with triamcinolone acetonide or sterile normal saline. Complete clearance of granuloma annulare lesions was achieved in nearly 70% of those receiving triamcinolone and in 44% with saline. Inadequate penetration of lesions was responsible for a number of failures. The rate of recurrence after treatment was high but retreatment was usually successful. In three cases of necrobiosis lipoidica complete resolution occurred, while in one, partial improvement was obtained. No serious complications of this type of treatment were observed.
