RESUMO

Nitrates entering the body of pregnant woman with food and potable water were showed to pass through the placental barrier and get into fetus. Transplacental transfer of nitrates under condition of nitrate overload on the body may result in development of hemic hypoxia, deterioration of biophysical profile of fetus and subsequently compromised infant's condition estimated by Apgar scale.

RESUMO

A study is presented of the general cellular-mediated immunity in 68 patients with pretumorous diseases of the uterine cervix and in 22 healthy women. A dependence was established of disorders of immune system on the severity grade of uterine cervix diseases. A study of the population of "incomplete" lymphocytes allowed to reveal additional changes in the body and use them in the formation of risk groups for development of uterine cervix cancer and choice of the method of treatment.

RESUMO

Oxytocin and sigetin were studied for their effect on the active and passive transport of Ca2+ in the fraction of myometrium sarcolemma in women. Oxytocin (5.10(-7) M) introduced into the sarcolemma vesicles and sigetin (5.10(-3) M) added into the incubation medium inhibit Mg2+, ATP-dependent accumulation of Ca2+ in these structures. The both agents in the mentioned concentration do not affect the passive release of cation from vesicles. A conclusion is drawn that inhibition of the calcium pump of myometrium cell plasma membranes underlies the physiological action of oxytocin and sigetin as stimulators of the contractile activity of the myometrium.

RESUMO

PIP: In an attempt to evaluate early signs of placental insufficiency, the functional state of placental and chorionic mitochondria was studied in 62 pregnant women. The group included 18 women who decided to terminate pregnancy at 8-10 weeks of gestation, 13 women with normal delivery at term, 16 women who had miscarriages at 10-12 weeks of gestation, and 15 women who had miscarriages at 18-26 weeks of gestation. Functional state of mitochondria was estimated by oxygen consumption in the absence and presence of the acceptor system (hexokinase-glucose-adenosine diphosphate). Succinic and alpha-ketoglutaric acids were used as oxidation substrates. During normal pregnancy the rate of succinic acid oxidation in the absence of acceptor system (free respiration) was 12.1 and 11.8 microA 02/mg at 8-10 weeks and at term, respectively; the rate of oxygen consumption during oxidation of alpha-ketoglutarate was 7.6 and 6.2 microA 02/mg, respectively. The rate of oxygen consumption in the presence of acceptor system (coupled respiration) was 18.1 and 16.5 microA 02/mg for succinic acid and 14.4 and 11.2 microA 02/mg for alpha-ketoglutaric acid, respectively. Spontaneous miscarriage was characterized by significant decrease in the rate of oxygen consumption. Free respiration at 8-10 and 18-26 weeks was 8.6 and 63 microA 02/mg, respectively, for succinic acid and 6.8 and 5.9 microA 02/mg for alpha-ketoglutaric acid, respectively. Coupled respiration at 8-10 and 18-26 weeks was 11.2 and 5.7 for succinic acid and 9.5 and 6.5 microA 02/mg for alpha-ketoglutaric acid, respectively. These findings indicated that spontaneous miscarriage was preceded by inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation. It was suggested that functional impairment of placenta can be corrected by administration of preparations containing thiol group (cysteine).^ieng

RESUMO

It is shown that the amount of prostaglandins F2alpha and E in myometrium of female rabbits and a woman decreases in the process of pregnancy and increases during delivery as compared to the control. The 10(-6)M concentration of prostaglandin F2alpha evokes an intensive Ca2+ uptake by myometrium strips both in normal and in pregnant animals but has no effect on the Mg2+, Ca2+-ATPase activity of sarcolemma vesicles. The Ca2+ uptake by the myometrium strips is not affected by prostaglandin F2alpha in the presence of NaF and N-ethylmaleimide inhibiting the ATP-dependent transport of Ca2+.
