RESUMO

A method for detecting eglonyl in cadaveric material has been developed. The Stas-Otto method is proposed for isolation. Thin-layer chromatography, spectrophotometry, and high-pressure liquid chromatography can be used for identification and measurements of this substance. The proposed method permits the isolation of up to 55% of the analyzed compound from liver tissue.

RESUMO

Providing with ascorbic acid, thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and niacin was studied in miners at deep levels before and after intake of correcting doses of vitamins. Enrichment of the food ration with vitamins produced a positive effect on the working capacity of the miners under study. The levels of vitamin consumption (vitamin-energy coefficients) have been estimated correcting the vitamin balance in miners working at deep levels.

RESUMO

The influence of meat containing ammonia in concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3% was studied in chronic experiments on 3 generations of rats (males and females). To investigate the function of the liver, kidneys and CNS, alanine-aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase activity, and the content of the total protein and its fractions were assayed in the blood serum; cholinesterase activity, sulfhydryl groups, urea and residual nitrogen were assayed in the blood, as well as the parameters of rheobase, chronaxie and summation of subliminal impulses. The results of the investigation have shown that meat containing ammonia in concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3% produces a detrimental effect on the experimental animals, the highest effect being recorded with an ammonia concentration of 0.3%.

RESUMO

Preservation of vitamins A, E, C, B6, B1, B2, B5, Bc was studied during preparation of dried special-purpose milk mixtures ("Solnyshko", "Inpitan", enpits, low-lactose mixtures) and after storage ("Inpitan", and low-lactose mixtures) during 1 year at 4 and 18 degrees C. It has been established that vitamins A, E and C are most subjected to deterioration during production of dried special-purpose mixtures, their losses comprise 17-47, 18-43, 13-41%, respectively. B2 and B5 were most resistant in the process of the mixture production. No significant losses of vitamins were recorded during storage of "Inpitan" and low-lactose mixtures.

RESUMO

Preservation of thiamine, riboflavin and niacin was studied in bread baked either from best-grade wheat flour enriched with vitamins B1, B2 and PP at the mill, or after the vitamins were added to the dough at the bakery. It was established that during the bread baking the content of vitamins was decreased by 33.3-58.1% when the wheat flour was vitaminized at the mill, and by 17.0-38.7% when the vitamins were added to the dough at the bakery. The content of thiamine and niacin in the bread prepared from flour vitaminized at the mill conforms to the standards recommended by the Institute of Nutrition, Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, for wholesale sorts of bread.

RESUMO

A chronic experiment was conducted in rats which were given cadmium in doses 100, 10 and 1 microgram/kg (as salt or in the metadolized form) with food, daily, during 6 months. Biochemical studies were based on the parameters characterizing the functions of the liver, kidneys, gastro-intestinal tract, pancreas, CNS, prostate (in males). Pathomorphological investigations were made at the end of the experiment. No significant differences were recorded in the action on the body of metabolized cadmium and cadmium salt. Cadmium in a dose of 100 micrograms/kg induced the development of anemia, renal insufficiency, suppression of the activity of digestive enzymes and dystrophic changes in the liver, kidneys and testes. Cadmium in a dose of 1 microgram/kg proved to be inactive, and it is recommended as a daily safe dose of cadmium intake with food.

RESUMO

A study of 50 patients with autoimmune diseases (of them 35 suffered from systemic scleroderma, 10 from systemic lupus erythematosus, 4 from fibrosing alveolitis and 1 from Goodpasture's syndrome) showed the importance of the functional state of the immune system for pathogenesis of the disease. The predominance of DTH reactions expressed in leukocyte migration inhibition, was noted in patients with minimum activity of the process. The effect of serum factors on the patients' lymphocyte functional activity was shown.

RESUMO

A test system permitting the detection of influenza virus protein M at a concentration of 0.1-0.5 ng/ml in ELISA has been developed. The use of this system made it possible to detect influenza viruses A and B directly in crude virus-containing material and clinical samples obtained from influenza patients. During the outbreak of influenza in the spring of 1983 ELISA was successfully used for the rapid diagnosis of influenza, and some of its advantages in comparison with the conventional immunofluorescence test were thus demonstrated. To overcome difficulties arising from the low immunogenic potency of protein M, in the process of obtaining diagnostic sera and ascitic fluids the animals were immunized with the conjugate of protein M and polyelectrolite, which ensured considerable activation of humoral immune response.

RESUMO

Left-handed adrenalectomy in rats aged 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 days produces compensatory hypertrophy of the remaining gland. Hypertrophy of the right adrenal is unmarked and variable depending on the time elapsed after operation (1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21 and 30 days). The index of hypertrophy as regards one right control adrenal does not exceed 133.6%, whereas that as regards both control adrenals 66.2%. Zona fasciculata reticularis plays the main role in the increase of the dimension and weight of the hypertrophied gland. The body weight of operated rats is lower as compared to control, the weight lag being inversely proportional to the animal's age at the moment of operation.

RESUMO

The preservation of vitamins was examined upon different types of thermal culinary treatment of poultry and rabbit meat. The losses of vitamins upon thermal treatment are determined by their destruction in the course of cooking, as well as by the transfer to the boiling water or outflow with muscle juice and fat upon frying. One of the main factors that affects the preservation of vitamins is the the duration of thermal treatment. The preservation of individual vitamins in the dishes is different and varies depending on the type of culinary treatment. Thiamine, vitamin A and carotene were found to be the least preserved whatever the type of treatment. All the vitamins under test were found to be the most preserved (within 85-100%) upon chop frying.

RESUMO

A comparative study was made of the percentage of cells bearing the receptor for the third component of the complement (LRC) and of the total cell content in the rat lymphoid organs as related to the time course of cancerogenesis. It was shown that impairment of the maturation processes in the thymus and in the peripheral organs (lymph nodes, blood) of the immunocompetent systems produces changes in intercellular interactions, reflected by accumulation of B cells, i. e. LRC, and their delayed maturation to antibody producers.

RESUMO

The features of changes in the index of thymidine-3H incorporation into the renal parenchyma in nephrotoxic nephritis are compared to other organs. In the kidneys the index of incorporation inthe epithelial cells of the renal cortex was 7.5-fold and in the brain cortex epithelium 15-fold as increased, respectively. The number of labeled glomerular cells was 2.5-fold as increased. In glomerulonephritis, the index of thymidine-3H incorporation in the epithelium of the adrenals, liver, goiter gland and small intestine lowered within 30-80% from normal.

RESUMO

To measure the tocopherols content in fish and fishery products conditions of analysis permitting the utilization of the Emmiry-Engel method were selected. Subsequent to a comparative investigation, a system of solvents was sorted out with which in column chromatography using aluminium oxide the most complete separation of tocopherols from compounds hindering colourimetric determination could be achieved. The procedures used in determinations and data on the tocopherols content in 27 species of fish, fishery products and others are given.

RESUMO

A method of instituting hydrolysis by using enzymes of the examined liver is proposed as an adjunct to the formerly elaborated fluorometric procedure of determining folacin in the liver. The fermentative hydrolysis is conducted in two stages. The purpose of the first of them is to split the combined form of folacin under the effect of the examined liver conjugases; the second stage involves transformation of xanthopterin contained in the liver into leucopterin by xanthinoxidase of the liver. When utilizing enzymes of the examined liver the need for producing and application of the enzymatic preparation made of the pig kidneys falls away, this simplifying the fluorometric determination of folacin in the liver and increasing its accuracy.

RESUMO

The state of cell population of the lymph nodes and the thymus was studied on a model of rat sarcoma of the hip(induced by dimethlbenzanthracene) by the method of fluorescent sounds. Statistically significant changes of incorporation of the negatively charged sound 1-anilino-8-naphthalinosulfonate (ANS) into cell suspension, depending on the stage of sarcoma development, were detected. The appearance of cell forms with a lesser hydrophobic character of the surface and with less binding points for the ANS were noted at the early carcinogenesis periods. It is supposed that these cells were referred to immature ones. A conclusion was drawn on the applicability of the method of fluorescent sound for recording changes in the immunological state of the organism in carcinogenesis.
