RESUMO

Some aspects of the regulation of alpha-amylase synthesis in Bacillus licheniformis CCM 2205 were investigated. The effect of actinomycin D and chloramphenicol was studied at the level of RNA transcription and translation. alpha-amylase synthesis in Bacillus licheniformis CCM 2205 was practically not altered during the first 20 min after the addition of actinomycin D, although RNA synthesis was almost completely blocked. In contrast to RNA polymerase inhibitor, chloramphenicol stopped immediately the synthesis of alpha-amylase. By using the least squares method the mean half-life of alpha-amylase mRNA was calculated to range from 7.5 to 8.4 min. the mean half-life of cell protein mRNA was determined to range from 2.6 to 3.8 min. Having in mind the immediate effect of chloramphenicol on the alpha-amylase synthesis, it can be concluded that de novo protein synthesis is required in the case of actinomycin D resistant residual synthesis.

RESUMO

Forty patients with atopic bronchial asthma were studied, aged from 16 to 54 (average age 34,4 years), with a duration of the disease from 1 to 22 years (average duration 10,8 years). The patients studied were divided into two groups of 20 patients each, treated with intal and zaditen respectively, in the course of 3 months, under the conditions of Sandanski resort. The study of the three month experiment revealed excellent and very good effect in 80 per cent of the patients with atopic bronchial asthma, both with intal and zaditen, started during an incomplete clinical remission. The treatment with both preparations proved to be effective in the patients with a concomitant corticosteroid treatment. The better results obtained by us as compared with similar studies are due to the established potent sanative mechanisms of climate therapy at Sandanski resort, with a gained reputation as a resort for the treatment of allergic respiratory diseases.

RESUMO

A total of 126 patients with infectious -- allergic bronchial asthma were studied, 56 males and 67 females, aged from 16 to 58 (average age 38,5), with a duration of the disease from 1 to 20 years, distributed into four groups: group 1 -- 33 patients with light stage of the disease, group II - 36 patients with moderately severe stage of the disease, group III -- severe stage of the disease (32 patients), group IV -- 25 patients with moderately severe and severe stage, treated with Ketotifen. Disorder of electrolyte metabolism was found in all patient groups with infectious-allergic bronchial asthma. Hyperpotassemia , hypermagnesiemia , hypernatremia and hypocalcemia were established with statistical significance. Various mechanisms participate in the pathogenesis-of those disorders, the allergic reaction being at the root. The electrolytic alterations depend on the stage and severity of the bronchial asthma. The electrolyte metabolism was favourably influenced after the treatment in all patient groups and pronounced - in the patients from group IV. That requires a proper drug treatment with a consideration given to the disturbed electrolytic balance.

RESUMO

Zaditen effect was studied in 20 patients with atopic bronchial asthma, aged from 16 to 48 (average age 34.2 years) with a duration of the disease from 1 to 18 years. The study was conducted in the Sandanski resort zone, characterized by exceptionally favourable bioclimatic constants for climate-treatment of patients with respiratory diseases. All patients, in an open experiment, received 1 mg Zaditen two times daily. The results obtained were with a positive effect in 90 per cent. Very good effect from the treatment was established in 80 per cent of the patients. The functional, biochemical, enzymatic and immunologic indices were favourably affected. Zaditen treatment, under the conditions of Sandanski resort, proved to be highly effective.
