RESUMO

The authors showed a pronounced and stable decrease in sexual motivation of male rats immediately after gamma-irradiation of the head with a dose of 2.58 C/kg. Exposure of the body to 1.29-2.58 C/kg radiation also inhibited sexual behaviour but only by the 45th-55th minute following irradiation: with higher doses some increase in sexual activity was observed immediately after irradiation.

RESUMO

The effect of exercise and diet supplemented with vitamins and trace elements on the reproductive function of white rats exposed to 3-day hypokinesia was studied. Hypokinetic females in a regular diet produced offspring in 33% and those on an enriched diet in 50% cases. The same values were obtained in exercising rats, the time allowed for their exercises making 3% of the total experimental time. A combined use of an enriched diet and exercises resulted in a 100% increase of pupping events.

RESUMO

The purpose of the study was to investigate a prolonged effect of hypoxia on the reproductive function and development of pups of white mice. Beginning with the age of 2 months the animals were exposed to an altitude of 5500 m for 6 hours a day during 9 months. The mice that were so adapted to and mated in hypoxia did not deliver any offspring. The animals that were adapted to hypoxia during intrauterine and postnatal development and mated at 5500 m delivered normal although much smaller litters.
