RESUMO

AIM: To examine lymphocyte ability to synthetize interferon-gamma in patients with mitral prolapse (MP). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The diagnosis of MP was made in 75 patients at echocardiography. ECG monitoring was made and the study of the ability of blood lymphocytes to produce IFN-gamma (If-g). RESULTS: The ability to produce If-g was diminished. This phenomenon is associated with chronic inflammation, autonomic disregulation of cardiac activity, depends on gender. CONCLUSION: Cytokine modulates metabolism of connective tissue in MP so If-g may participate in MP pathogenesis. Therefore, If-g and/or its inductors may prevent some MP-related complications due to its deficiency.

RESUMO

Pleotropic cytokine IFN-gamma is synthesized not only by activated immunocompetent cells but also by elements of CNS (endothelial cells of brain, glial cells, neurons). Primary structure of neuronal and immune IFN-gamma are similar. The molecular identity of this cytokine receptors on neuronal and immune cells is found. These facts testify of interrelation of two physiological systems. The central effects of IFN-gamma are realized in modulation both immune and controle-regulation processes. One of important immunomodulation properties of IFN-gamma is its ability to induce expression of antigenes of MHC class II on neuronal cells, which is characteristic only for this cytokine. The participation of IFN-gamma in immune reactions of CNS also is carried out at the expense of amplification under its influence of superoxide production, NO and prostaglandine synthesis, expression in astrocytes and microglial cells of ICAM adgesive molecule. Control-regulation function of cytokine is realized at level of cell elements of brain, nerve/endocrine system. Auto/parakrine activity of neuronal IFN-gamma is directed on maintenance homeostasis in CNS. It participates in regulation of processes connected to the daily allowance biorhythmes, it is revealed in work of "internal clocks". The cytokine participation in immunogenesis processes [symbol: see text] and control-regulation reactions has a number of common mechanisms. IFN-gamma is immunomodulator and from an other hand it is neuromodulator.

RESUMO

Psychological testing using Eysenck Personality Inventory and immunological testing of 75 patients with idiopathic mitral valve prolapse revealed low production of interferon-gamma by blood lymphocytes and a correlation between interferon-gamma production and patient's temperament. Low neuroticism and extroversion scores were found in patients with normal interferon-gamma production. High neuroticism score was detected in 82% patients with lowest interferon-gamma production, which refers these patients to a group at high immunological risk and prompts the use of interferon and/or its inductors in complex therapy of these patients.

RESUMO

The data on the effect of MIGI-K preparation, acidic hydrolyzate from mussel meat, on organism resistance are presented. The effect is based on the ability of MIGI-K to influence the level of endogenous compounds responsible for radioresistance, such as biogenic amines and lipid hydroperoxides, as well as certain parameters determining immune status of organism.

RESUMO

The levels of met-enkephalin (ME), beta-endorphin (BE), and alpha-interferon (a-IFN) have been determined in the human blood 1 day after dipyridamole administration. Dipyridamole led to an increase in serum a-IFN concentration up to 3 times, and to simultaneous rise of the lymphocytes ability to produce a-IFN. The content of BE did not depend on dipyridamole treatment, but ME level achieved 110 +/- 4.8 pg/ml (compare to 79.5 +/- 7.6 pg/ml in control). Positive interrelation has been found out between individual ME concentrations and lymphocyte abilities to a-IFN production with the coefficient of correlation equal to 0.69. The effect of dipyridamole on ME level is suggested to develop via a-IFN interaction with the opioid systems.

RESUMO

It has first been established that interferon preparations, especially reaferon, exert a protective antiviral effect in nonepidemic situations under conditions of physical and emotional stress leading to activation of opportunistic flora. Alongside with antiviral effect, reaferon showed a significant immunomodulating effect on the host reflected in blast transformation of T-lymphocytes and production of gamma-interferon. The immunoregulating action of reaferon was prolonged. These data suggest that exogenous use of reaferon may be one of the methods enhancing the resistance to emotional and physical stress.
