RESUMO

1)The Keio ACLS Popularizing and Promoting Association (KAPPA) is an official student organization that promotes advanced life support techniques.<br>2)KAPPA has provided 29 advanced cardiac life support courses, including 20 official ICLS (immediate cardiac life support) courses of the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine, which have trained 314 ICLS providers and 61 ICLS instructors during the past 8 years.<br>3)Peer–led training among students to maintain the quality of the courses has contributed to the activities of KAPPA.

RESUMO

1)Professionalism should be explicitly introduced as a fundamental content into curricula/programs of undergraduate medical education, postgraduate clinical training, and of continuing medical education provided by professional societies and the Japan Medical Association.<br>2)We need to enhance our research activities on goals and objectives which should be accomplished through professionalism education, effective learning strategies, appropriate assessment methods, as well as the impact of informal and hidden curricula.<br>3)We propose that the medical profession should collaboratively develop various activities to win the trust of the general society in tandem with the introduction of professionalism education.

RESUMO

Topic of the conference was evaluation of attitude and competence of candidates on the entrance examination, and concrete procedures of interview, essay test and so on and notes for assessing process were discussed.Further improvement in the method of interview and essay test and the standardization of their assessment and clarification of the validity of these tools by accumulation of their follow-up data were important.

RESUMO

1) For third-year students at Keio University Medical School, 10 lectures are given about why <I>kampo</I> medicine is effective, Fourth-year students receive 8 lectures on <I>kampo</I> medicine and participate in independent study sessions 3 times a week for 4 months.<BR>2) In lectures entitled “Why Is <I>kampo</I> Medicine Effective?”we introduce the functional mechanism of action of <I>kampo</I> medicine and address the skepticism of medical students. In the lecture series entitled “Kampo Medicine, ”we introduce the clinical foundations of <I>kampo</I> practice and provide students with a checklist of the key points of each lecture.<BR>3) In the independent study sessions, several students perform mentored basic-science research into <I>kampo's</I> mechanism of action.

RESUMO

1) Although many people all over the world are aware of traditional Chinese medicine, <I>kampo</I> medicine is not as well known. <I>Kampo</I>, traditional Japanese herbal medicine, is an integral part of medical practice in Japan and deserves greater attention. 2) In response to increasing interest in <I>kampo</I> we have created a web-based virtual class as a reliable source for information about <I>kampo</I> medicine. This virtual class incorporates the latest data on <I>kampo</I> and numerous features to pro- mote a basic understanding of <I>kampo</I>. 3) Through this website and virtual class for health professionals, knowledge of the reliability, usefulness, and safety of <I>kampo</I> will be shared with the world.
