RESUMO
The bark of Eucommia ulmoides is a well-known crude drug in oriental medicine, and its leaves have been consumed as a beverage. From the green leaves of this plant, three new iridoids (1-3) were isolated, together with 12 known compounds. Compound 1 is the first iridoid possessing a saturated bond between C-3 and C-4 and having an ether linkage between C-3 and C-2 of the glucose unit. Furthermore, 2 and 3 may be regarded as the first naturally occurring conjugates of an iridoid and an amino acid.

Three new steroid glycosides named trikamsterosides C, D and E were isolated from the underground parts of Trillium kamtschaticum PALL. (Liliaceae) along with two known 18-norspirostanol glycosides trillenosides A and B. Their chemical structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical evidence.

Two new steroid glycosides, named trikamsterosides A and B, and a new sesquiterpenoid glycoside named trikamsesuquiside A were isolated from the underground parts of Trillium kamtschaticum PALL. along with 18 known compounds comprising 12 steroids, one sesquiterpenoid glycoside, one phenylpropanoid, one flavonoid glycoside, and three phenylpropanoid sucrose esters. Their chemical structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical evidence. Among them, one phenylpropanoid sucrose ester showed almost the same radical-scavenging effect on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl as that of alpha-tocopherol.
