RESUMO
Two women presented with sore throat and fever. Their symptoms were not alleviated by antibiotics. Cervical computed tomography (CT) with contrast enhancement demonstrated enlargement of predominant posterior cervical lymph nodes and streaky heterogeneous tonsils with interspersed low attenuation. They were diagnosed as having infectious mononucleosis by their laboratory data. Thus, when radiologists encounter these CT findings of pharyngitis that is not alleviated by antibiotic therapy, infectious mononucleosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Exostosis occurs in the ribs either sporadically or as a manifestation of a genetic disorder known as hereditary multiple exostoses. Costal exostosis may cause chest pain and, on rare occasions, result in hemothorax. We report a case of hemothorax owing to costal exostosis in a 4-year-old boy.

The case of an aneurysm of a systemic artery supplying otherwise normal basal segments of the left lower lobe is presented. The diagnosis was correctly made postprocessed with three-dimensional reformatting using a multidetector row CT (MDCT) scanner. Conventional angiography was obviated.
