RESUMO
The ultrastructural features of the lesions of four FEH patients disclosed changes in the nuclei interpreted as a premature disintegration of the nucleoli and the presence of papilloma-like viruses. Changes in ribosome number and distribution, glycogen content and formation of vesicles within the cytoplasm of FEH keratinocytes were observed and compared with normal epithelia. The observed cell changes were explained as specific host response due to HPV-13.

An investigation work is presented about epidemiologic prevalence that describes the quantity of disorders existing of focal epithelial hyperplasia in a particular population. The results obtained showed low levels of such alterations, with what was concluded that such alteration does not represent a public health problem in the studied zone.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 13 DNA was detected in focal epithelial hyperplasia lesions of the oral mucosa in seven half-caste mexicans. The lesions contained intracellular papillomavirus-like particles with a diameter of about 50 nm. DNA extracted from biopsies contained unintegrated HPV type 13 DNA genomes as revealed by Southern blot hybridization. The HPV 13 DNA that was isolated in the present study had the same restriction enzyme cleavage map as HPV 13 DNA, previously described by others. It was moreover confirmed that HPV type 13 genome is related to the genomes of HPV types 6 and 11.

It is reported a case of duplication of the anus and rectum. A 48 year old man, had two functioning rectae, one ending in its normal anatomical topography and the functioning but nor functional supernumerary rectum exteriorized in the left gluteal region trough a rudimentary anus. Histological studys demonstrated a rudimentary sphincter in the ectopic anus, and focal carcinamotous transformation of one of the four adenomatous polyps, encountered protruding through the normally located anus. The anal anomaly was associated with partial agenesis of the sacrum, absence of coccyx, sacral anterior meningomyelocele and hypoplasia of the twelve right rib. The frequency of the anomaly, its histology and embriology, as well as its classification within the malformations of the terminal gut, were revised in the medical bibliography. It is concluded that this type of anomaly has not been classified or describe, before.
