RESUMO
Many technologic improvements have allowed cardiovascular imaging to be more efficient and less invasive, especially in cardiac imaging. The main application fields are described. Advantages and disadvantages of two complementary imaging techniques are highlighted: CT-scanner and magnetic resonance imaging.

Uterine artery embolization for symptomatic leiomyomas is a new attractive treatment in patients who do not desire pregnancy and for whom conventional therapy has failed. Uterine fibroid embolization can also be considered for patients who desire pregnancy when myomectomy is technically difficult or/and in case of recurrence after myomectomy. 90% improvements are commonly reported in abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, and in bulk-related symptoms. This technique allows reduction of the hospital stay, the convalescence period, the morbidity and the mortality rate compared to conventional surgical treatment.

We report a cavernous haemangioma in the left cavernous sinus. This lesions very rarely occurs in this site and is difficult to diagnose correctly preoperatively. CT, angiography and MRI permit differentiation of the cavernous haemangioma from other tumours in this region and thereby contribute to a better surgical approach. The radiological features of cavernous haemangioma reported in the literature are summarised.

Self-treatment of chronic headache with suppositories containing paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid may lead to serious complications. We report the radiological features of five cases of rectal stenosis following the use of such suppositories. The role of the double-contrast barium enema in suggesting the diagnosis of this complication of a chronic and often unrecognized self-treatment is emphasized.

EFE is a rare cardiac disorder with poor prognosis and uncertain cause. Primary and secondary forms have been described. Most authors consider that all EFE is secondary--a reactive process set off in the endocardium by stress on the myocardium. We report two cases representing the primary dilated form and the secondary contracted form. The dilated form was associated with intracavitary thrombus of the left ventricle. In both cases, an unusual presence of subendocardial calcifications was noted. The ultrasonographic findings are discussed.

Sarcoidosis is a systemic disease of unknown etiology. The diagnosis is based on consistent clinical, biological and radiological findings supported by histologic evidence of noncaseating epithelioid granulomas. Skin lesions occur in about a quarter of patients with sarcoidosis. The purpose of this article is to analyse through the clinical presentation of dermatological lesions, a potential link with systemic disease.

We describe a peritoneal mesothelioma. There are many aspecific symptoms. Professional exposure is found in only fifty percent of cases. The histological diagnosis is often difficult. The survival period is short because of the absence of curative treatment.
