RESUMO

It is found that chronic purulent and pyopolypous sinusitis in children causes activation of lipid peroxidation and endogenic phospholipases in red cell membranes. There are shifts in structural and functional pattern of cytomembranes in inflammation focus (exudate from the sinuses). Membrane destabilization was maximal in pyopolypous sinus inflammation.

RESUMO

The authors have tried alternative magnetic field of sound frequency in patients with acute inflammatory diseases of the larynx. The above modality proved highly efficient in view of its bacteriological, immunomodulating and detoxication actions at cellular level, which make the method promising in physiotherapy of acute inflammation.

RESUMO

The paper provides results of examinations and surgical treatment in 190 patients with laryngeal and tracheal stenosis of different origin. The most favourable results were obtained in patients with postresuscitation stenosis, middle paralysis, posttraumatic stenosis: up to 75%, 71% and 55% of the responders, respectively. The canule remains for life in 20% of the surgical patients, because they have severe laryngeal and tracheal deformities associated with other affections.

RESUMO

The study was made of paracentesis efficacy in functional recovery of the acoustic tubes and tympanic membrane in infants with catarrhal and purulent otitis media acuta. Although the procedure had an insignificant effect on the rate of the tubal functional recovery, formation of big scars on the tympanic membrane was registered at dynamic otoscopy and impedancemetry in one case only. Paracentesis is recommended in diagnosis of perforation-free inflammations of the middle ear in infants.

RESUMO

Medical examinations of children and adults have shown that ENT diseases amount to 230 and 190 per 1000, respectively. In terms of types of ENT diseases, chronic tonsilitis (38.4%) and adenoids (23.3%) are most prevalent among children and neurosensory hypoacusis (31.1%) and chronic pharyngitis (19.3%)--among the adult population. Trends in the prevalence and types of chronic ENT diseases have been identified.

RESUMO

The present authors maintain that the surgical approach to the antrum via the mastoid bone as a method of treating chronic purulent otitis media is very promising because it saves bone conduction structures of the middle ear. In order to provide accurate and safe dissection of the antrum, the authors measured the angle between the external auditory meatus and the horizontal skull plane. As they have previously demonstrated, this angle is correlated with the antrum displacement upwards or downwards. On the basis of over 500 observations, the authors have concluded that the angle increases on the average from 13 degrees to 25 degrees at the age of 5 to 40 years and then decreases, reaching 18 degrees by the age of 70 years. The authors recommend to measure the surgical angle for all types of antrotomic intervention, using contrast X-ray ++ of the auditory meatus in the normal anterior projection of the skull.

RESUMO

In 160 patients, postoperative healing of stenoses of hollow neck organs of various etiology was examined clinically and morphologically. All the patients were divided into 4 groups in terms of the etiological factor as follows: Group 1 (60 patients)--patients with post-traumatic stenoses of the larynx and trachea; Group 2 (34 patients)--patients with post-resuscitation stenoses of the larynx and trachea; Group 3 (38 patients)--patients with bilateral laryngoparalysis that developed after strumectomy; Group 4 (28 patients)--patients with postburn deformation of the pharyngolarynx and esophagus. Pathomorphological changes typical of a chronic inflammatory process were detected in the frontal neck tissues (skin, muscles, cartilages, mucous membrane) of all the patients. Morphologically, the frontal neck tissues were similar in all the patients. In view of this, a large number of suppurative-necrotic complications seen after surgery of stenoses of hollow neck organs (up to 45%) can be attributed to pathological lesions in the frontal neck tissues.
