RESUMO

Four patients with acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) were treated and followed-up. It was established that in AIP urinary pigments have specific absorption spectra in the visible light range. Clinical manifestation and the severity of the disease course correlated with the amount of excretion of copro- and uroporphyrin and their characteristic spectrum of light absorption. It is concluded that of significance in the AIP pathogenesis is the level of formation of copro- and uroporphyrin isomers which may directly effect the nervous tissue and clinical manifestations of AIP. It is recommended to use plasmapheresis in biohemosorption by means of extracorporeal donor spleen.

RESUMO

The experience gained by the Lvov City Clinical Hospital for Emergencies evidences the usefulness of participation of the workers of clinical diagnosis chairs in practical diagnostic and therapeutic work, for it considerably reduces the number of diagnostic errors. The authors consider such cooperation between practicing physicians and laboratory workers (many of them are not physicians) very useful and recommend to change the system of training in laboratory diagnosis at specialized and advanced training courses so that the number of physicians working at clinical diagnosis laboratories be increased.

RESUMO

In 71 patients with lymphogranulomatosis (35 males and 36 females aged from 19 to 67 years) the hepatic function was studied prior to and during the cytostatic treatment. There were found considerable disturbances in the liver functioning and parallelism between the activity of the mentioned enzymes and the presence of intoxication, the enlarged liver size and intensity of the pathological process. During the treatment in some patients the activity of the enzymes under study was decreased or normalized. Changes in the activity of blood transminase, aldolase and alkaline phosphatase would reflect the gravity of destructive processes and disturbances in the liver function in patients with lymphogranulomatosis. The data obtained are of certain value for the treatment and prognosis of the disease.
