RESUMO

Photoelectrochemical hydrogen production is a critical key to solving the carbon-zero goal of countries due to renewable sources of solar light and combustion products of hydrogen-only water. Here, an architecture design for an n-type nano rosettes-rod TiO2 (RT) surface using CdS and Co-doped CdS quantum dots (QDs) is carried out utilizing the SILAR (simple ionic layer adsorption and reaction) method. Furthermore, the photocatalytic behaviour of Co-doped CdS QDs SILAR cycles deposition is investigated in various cycles, including 5, 8, 10, and 12. The FESEM, Raman XRD, Uv-Vis spectrometer, and vibration modes are used to evaluate the photoelectrode surface structure, crystal structure, and solar light absorption, respectively. FESEM images and XRD pattern revealed successive CdS QDS and Co-doped CdS QDs deposition on the RT boundary and rising SILAR cycles of Co-doped CdS QDs lead to further coverage of RT surface. UV-vis spectrometer indicated shifting solar light absorption to the visible region by applying more SILAR cycles of Co-doped CdS QDs deposition. The electrochemical parameters obtained from EIS showed total polarization resistance (Rp) of the RT electrode dramatically decreased with 10 SILAR cycle Co-doped CdS QDs deposition (5093 Ω cm2 and 617 Ω cm2). Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and chronoamperometric photocatalytic performance measurements indicated Co-doped CdS QDs on RT extremely enhanced photoresponse under solar irradiation and 10 SILAR cycle Co-doped CdS QDs improved photocurrent density about fourfold according to blank RT electrode.

RESUMO

In this work, highly monodispersed palladium-nickel (Pd-Ni) nanoparticles supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were synthesized by the microwave-assisted methodology. The synthesized nanoparticles were used for modification of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to produce our final product as PdNi@rGO/GCE, which were utilized for non-enzymatic detecting of glucose. In the present study, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), chronoamperometry (CA) and, cyclic voltammetry (CV) methods were implemented to investigate the sensing performance of the developed glucose electrode. The modified electrode, PdNi@rGO/GCE, exhibited very noticeable results with a linear working range of 0.05-1.1 mM. Moreover, an ultralow detection limit of 0.15 µM was achieved. According to the results of amperometric signals of the electrodes, no significant change was observed, even after 250 h of operation period. In addition, the highly monodisperse PdNi@rGO/GCE was utilized to electrochemical detection of glucose in real serum samples. In light of the results, PdNi@rGO/GCE has shown an excellent sensing performance and can be used successfully in serum samples for glucose detection and it is suitable for practical and clinical applications.

RESUMO

We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of placental elasticity in predicting a placental invasion anomaly with the Virtual Touch Quantification (VTQ) technique. Pregnant women in the third trimester with suspected placental invasion anomaly were enrolled into the research (n = 58). The placenta was evaluated and divided into three equal parts as foetal edge (inner 1/3 of placenta), maternal edge (outer 1/3 of placenta) and the central part (central 1/3 of placenta). Shear wave velocity (SWV) measurements were used in the elastographic evaluation of placentas by VTQ. We performed the measurements at the different regions of placenta for sampling the variety areas of the placenta. Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) Elastography scores were significantly higher in the group in which an invasion was detected during the surgery of patients with preoperative placental invasion suspicion. A significant difference in the measurements of the inner, central and outer third of the placenta between the groups was found (p < .001). In this study, we have shown higher SWV scores of placental measurements of the patients with preoperative suspected anomalies and an invasion detected during their surgery. These findings may reflect an event at the tissue elasticity level and we hope that the use of the VTQ technique may contribute to an early prediction of placental invasions before surgery in the future via new research. Impact statement What is already known on this subject? Placenta invasion anomalies (PIA's) are characterized by haemorrhages which can threat the mother's life. Placental invasion anomalies are among the most important causes of maternal mortality and morbidity. Early diagnosis is very important condition in reducing the mortality and morbidity. Gray scale ultrasonography (US) is mostly used in early diagnosis of PIA's. Acoustic radiation force impulse elastography (ARFI) is a new elastographic ultrasonography technic. We aimed to evaluate a new method in the early diagnosis of PIA's using ARFI technique. There is no study in the diagnosis of PIA's by ARFI in the literature to our knowledge. We think that this original study will contribute to the literature. What do the results of this study add? We showed the accuracy of ARFI in determination of PIA's. ARFI scores were significantly higher in the group in which invasion was detected during surgery of patients with preoperative placental invasion suspicion. What are the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Our findings may reflect an event at the tissue elasticity level and we hope that the use of VTQ technique may contribute to early predict of placental invasions before surgery in the future via new researches. Early diagnosis of placental invasion anomalies may reduce mortality and morbidity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic performance of sonoelastography for differentiating angiomyolipomas from renal cell carcinomas. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Twenty-eight angiomyolipomas and 19 renal cell carcinomas were prospectively examined with real-time elastography. Lesions were classified according to four elastographic patterns on the basis of the distribution of the blue area (representing no strain and hardest tissue component). The elasticity patterns and the strain ratios of the angiomyolipomas and renal cell carcinomas were evaluated independently by two observers. Diagnostic performance and interobserver agreement were analyzed. RESULTS: All angiomyolipomas were classified as having a high-strain elastographic pattern (blue areas in < 50% of lesion, considered type 1 or type 2) by both radiologists, whereas 18 of 19 renal cell carcinomas were classified as having a low-strain elastographic pattern (blue areas in ≥ 50% of lesion, considered type 3 or 4) by both radiologists. The respective mean strain ratios measured by two radiologists were 0.15 ± 0.06 and 0.18 ± 0.09 for the angiomyolipomas and 0.64 ± 0.15 and 0.63 ± 0.19 for the renal cell carcinomas. There were significant differences between the elasticity patterns and strain ratios for angiomyolipomas and renal cell carcinomas (p < 0.001). Interobserver agreement was excellent for elasticity patterns and strain ratios, with a weighted kappa coefficient of 0.96 and an intraclass correlation coefficient score of 0.95. CONCLUSION: Our results show that real-time elastography may be useful in differentiating angiomyolipomas from renal cell carcinomas, by use of both elasticity patterns and strain ratios.
