RESUMO

One hundred and sixty cases of bronchogenic carcinoma were retrospectively analysed. Male to female ratio was 8.4:1, common age group being 40-60 years. The most common (38%) radiological presentation was mass lesion. The predominant histological cell type was squamous cell carcinoma (67%). Most of the patients presented in an advanced stage of the disease of inoperability. The study underlines the various diagnostic madalities in diagnosing lung cancer and emphasises the need for practising doctors to keep in mind the possibilities of bronchogenic carcinoma in all cases of unresolved pneumonia and mass lesion on chest x-ray especially in high risk patients.

RESUMO

Tuberculosis, an infectious disease has got a special place in the medical bibliography. Its history dates back to 5000 B.C. of neolithic period. Even in modern world with advancement of the knowledge of tuberculosis with specific drugs to treat and programmes for its prevention, this diseasse is top listed on public health problems in all the developing countries. Its sad impact was felt by the human race throughout the world and in all ages. Thus the people of all countries and so also India fought back against this disease.

RESUMO

This case report describes the pleuro-pulmonary involvement in a young patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) of one and half year duration. The early involvement of lung interstitium in a 27-year-old male and development of pneumothorax were the unusual features. The various aspects of rheumatoid lung disease (RLD) and its clinical significance were briefly discussed.
