RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the imaging and clinical risk factors related to the postoperative recurrence of sacrococcygeal chordoma. Methods: 63 patients of sacrococcygeal chordoma proved by operation and pathology in our hospital from January 2009 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed in the related factors of imaging manifestations, pathological type, and extent of surgical resection. The recurrence of sacrococcygeal chordoma was followed up. Univariate Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and multivariate Cox regression analysis were used to analyze the related factors of recurrence. Results: On plain radiographs and CT scans, chordoma primarily manifested as osteolytic bone loss and uneven soft tissue mass, with typical calcification or ossification (56.1 percent). Numerous chunk nodules with clearly high signal levels and short signal intervals were seen as the "pebble" in MRI characteristics on T2WI. The follow-up period ranged from 20 to 130 months, with a median time of 47.5 months. There were 14 recurrences (22. 2%) during the follow-up period. 13 patients with recurrence underwent surgery again, and 5 of them recurred after surgery (recurrence time range 3 to 97 months, median 38. 5 months). 6 (42.8%), 8 (57. 1%), and 13 (92. 9%) of the 14 patients with recurrence recurred within 2, 3, and 5 years after surgery, respectively. Univariate Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that occurred with local infiltration, Low differentiated chordoma, partial resection had a high postoperative recurrence rate, and all differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Multi-factor Cox regression analysis showed whether local infiltration occurred and the degree of tumor resection were independent risk factors for tumor recurrence. Conclusion: Sacrococcygeal chordoma has a high tendency of recurrence, and the likelihood of recurrence is higher in tumor occurred with local infiltration, non-complete tumor resection and low differentiated chordoma, which can be considered to shorten the review cycle and complete tumor resection as much as possible during surgery.

RESUMO

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a common primary malignancy in adolescents and children. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) can regulate the progression of OS. Herein, we explored the target genes and effects of miR9 in OS. Cell growth, colony formation and cell cycle were respectively examined using a cell counting kit8 (CCK8), crystal violet staining and flow cytometry. The target gene of miR9 was predicted according to the MicroRNA.org website. Luciferase activity was examined using a dual luciferase reporter gene assay kit. The corresponding factors levels were analyzed by carrying out reverse transcriptionquantitative PCR (RTqPCR) and western blot analysis. A mouse model of OS was also established and the volume and weight of the tumors of the mice with OS were measured. The levels of p16 in the mice with OS were detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The data revealed a high expression of miR9 and a low expression of p16 in the OS tissue. p16 was found to be the target gene for miR9 in OS. miR9 depletion decreased the proliferation and colony formation of Saos2 cells by arresting the cells at the G1 phase, accompanied by the downregulation of cyclin A, cyclin D1 and cMyc expression levels. Moreover, miR9 depletion inhibited the phosphorylation of p38, cJun Nterminal kinase (JNK) and extracellular signalregulated kinase (ERK). In vivo, miR9 depletion decreased the tumor volume and weight and increased p16 expression in the mouse tumor tissues. Nevertheless, p16 silencing reversed the suppressive effects of miR9 inhibitors on OS cells. On the whole, the findings of this study substantiate that miR9 depletion suppresses cell proliferation by targeting p16 in OS and by mediating the activation of the ERK/p38/JNK pathway.

RESUMO

This paper aims to discuss the initial clinical effect of treating bone defect of long bone osteomyelitis with Masquelet technology. A retrospective analysis was made among the recruited 25 patients with long bone osteomyelitis patients from April, 2013 to February 2014 from Henan Provincial People's Hospital. Clinical effect of treating long bone osteomyelitis with Masquelet technology and the possible effects of vancomycin in different doses on knitting were also evaluated in follow-up visit lasting for 6~18 months, and 22 cases' bone was healed on imaging at the last follow up. According to Samantha X ray score criteria, Samantha score of regular dose group and high dose group in 4 months after operation was 4.16 and 3.09, respectively. There were 12 cases in regular-dose antibiotic group, among which, 1 case had delayed wound healing, and 3 cases reoccurred; there were 10 cases in high-dose antibiotic group, among which, no cases reoccurred after operation. Masquelet technology is a reliable and easy osteomyelitis treatment. Notably, it shows significant advantages for long bone reconstruction induced by infection and trauma. Bone cement with high dose of vancomycin has better effect on controlling osteomyelitis than bone cement with regular dose of vancomycin.

RESUMO

A series of novel fluorotitanophosphates with a general formula (NH4)xK4 - x[Ti2PO4F9] (x = 0, 0.70, 1.00, 1.25, named as 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Their structures were determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction technique, which show that all of the phases in this series contain an idental anionic fluorotitanophosphate chain, consisting of alternating linkage of PO4 tetrahedra and TiO2F4 octahedra. The fluorotitanophosphate chain is unique, which is different from the first titanophosphate chain found in [Ti3P6O27].5[NH3CH2-CH2NH3].2H3O. Another interesting observation of this series is that, by partial substitution of potassium by ammonium, the structure converts to a more-symmetric version, while maintaining all of the topological feature.

RESUMO

Two solid solutions, La4Cu(3-x)Zn(x)MoO12 (0.05 < or = x < or = 0.20, SS1) and La4Cu(3-x)Zn(x)MoO12 (0.30 < or = x < or = 2.40, SS2), were synthesized at ambient pressure and at temperatures from 1025 to 1200 degrees C by traditional solid-state reactions. Their structures were determined from X-ray powder diffraction with the help of electron and neutron diffraction. The atomic arrangements of SS1 and SS2 are similar, but their space groups are different, Pmnm for SS1 and P-1 for SS2, respectively. The copper, zinc, and molybdenum are coordinated by oxygen in corner-sharing trigonal bipyramids that are sandwiched between layers of lanthanum cations. In the transition metal cations layer of SS2, the copper and zinc cations order into a Kagomé-like lattice of triangular clusters. The magnetism has been measured from 2 to 300 K and is highly influenced by the geometric arrangement of the Cu(II) and Zn(II) cations. The number of free electrons per three Cu atoms is close to one for all samples in SS1 and SS2 indicating that the system can be well expressed by independent Cu(II)3 clusters. Spontaneous magnetization was observed in the system.
