[PROGNOSIS OF DEEP INFECTIOUS COMPLICATIONS IN HIP ARTHROPLASTY].

The retrospective research analyzed the data of 893 patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. There were used the data about patients undergoing hip arthroplasty without complications (the first group--808 cases) and patients with developed deep surgical site infection following total joint arthroplasty after 12 months (the second group--85 patients). It was applied as the training matrix in creation of mathematical prognosis and algorithm of prophylaxis of deep infection in patients undergoing the primary total hip arthroplasty. There were revealed 21 prognostic significant criteria of deep infection development in surgical site. The program was tested in prospective investigation (293 clinical cases) with follow-up term of 12 months after operation. The rate of development of postoperative deep infection in surgical wound reduced as compared with the rate in group of retrospective research from 1.7% to 0.7%. The efficacy of proposed program was 80%.

[Choice of the kind of bone cavity replacement in the treatment of patients with chronic osteomyelitis].

Results of surgical treatment of 197 patients with osteomyelitis by bone autoplasty, plasty with Osteoset T and combined kinds of plasty were analyzed. Persistent positive effect was obtained in 89.8% of cases in patients after bone plasty, in 86.9% of cases after plasty with Osteoset T and in 85.3% of cases after using combined kinds of plasty. The proposed succession of actions in decision on different kinds of bone plasty and bone-muscular plasty in patients with chronic osteomyelitis is in line with the requirements of the national directions on traumatology and orthopedics and allows the interventions in question to be performed with minimal risk for the patients.

[Possibilities of prognostication of suppurative-inflammatory complications of surgical treatment of patients with nonrecurrent postoperative ventral hernia]. / Vozmozhnosti prognozirovaniia gnoino-vospalitel'nykh oslozhnenii pri khirurgicheskom lechenii bol'nykh s neretsidivnoi posleoperatsionnoi ventral'noi gryzhei.

On the basis of the data of a retrospective investigation of 541 patients with nonrecurrent noncomplicated postoperative ventral hernia the criteria of prognosis of pyo-inflammatory complications in the operative wound after liquidation of the abdominal wall defect became more exact and quantitated. It was established that 18 criteria can be used for prognosis, 14 of them--before operation. During the operative procedure it can be possible to make the prognosis more exact with the intraoperative findings taken into account. Among them of special significance are 4 prognostic criteria: multichamber hernial sac, commissural process in the abdominal cavity, the fact of separation of the commissures and possible perforation of the hollow organ. The efficiency of the program was 80%. The approbation of the program has shown that prognosis of the development of pyo-inflammatory complications must be made on the basis of both the preoperative and intraoperative criteria. It allows to reliably reduce the amount of postoperative pyo-inflammatory complications from 8.6% (retrospective data) to 5.2% (prospective data).

The long-term outcomes of palliative operations and diagnostic laparotomies in 98 patients with radically inoperable cancers of gastric-intestinal tract are analysed. Increased blood oncoantigene parameters are not to be considered as subclinical markers of oncological process. Though complex assessment of cancer patients' curability the parameters of oncoantigene content may occur to be useful in determination of the prognosis of life longitude of patients having undergone the primary tumour focus removal.

[Nutritional status and radionuclide contents of food rations of rural population in the Ukrainian region controlled after the Chernobyl AES accident]. / Sostoianie pitaniia i soderzhanie radionuklidov v ratsionakh sel'skogo naseleniia kontroliruemogo regiona Ukrainy posle avarii na Chernobyl'skoi AES.

Chemical composition, energy value and 137Cs and 90Sr content in daily diets were assessed in rural population from the region controlled after the Chernobyl accident. As shown by low urine excretion of vitamins (thiamine, ascorbic acid, riboflavin, N1-methylnicotinamide), the population suffer from vitamin deficiency, especially in winter and spring. Levels of the radionuclides rose 1.3-19.7 and 3.4-24.8-fold for 137Cs and 90Sr, respectively.

[The late results of surgical intervention in radically inoperable stomach cancer]. / Otdalennyi rezul'tat operativnogo vmeshatel'stva pri radikal'no neoperabel'nom rake zheludka.

A long-term result of palliative operations, as well as that of exploratory laparotomy in 74 patients with gastric cancer was studied. In patients with suspected radically inoperable form of gastric cancer, the efforts should be made to remove a neoplasm, i.e. gastric resection to be performed.

[Energy expenditure of workers at modern animal-breeding complexes]. / Energeticheskie zatraty rabochikh sovremennykh zhivotnovodcheskikh kompleksov.

The energy expenditure of workers at modern cattle-breeding farm complexes was studied during their working time and during 24 h. It was found that during the working period the energy expenditure fluctuated from 9.2 to 25.9 kJ/min, while daily energy expenditure comprised 11.6-13.8 MJ.
