RESUMO
This paper reports basic features of the (137)Cs uptake by forest-derived products in the Gomel region. Even with the soil contamination density of 37 kBq m(-2) the radionuclide contents in 20-30% of mushrooms and berries were found to be higher than the admissible levels. The (137)Cs contamination density of soil, site type and meteorological parameters were observed as the major factors which govern the radiocaesium uptake by mushrooms and berries. The (137)Cs contents in forest-derived products were found to increase directly with the soil contamination density. Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) growing on different site types differed significantly in the (137)Cs content. It was also determined that statistically significant differences in the (137)Cs radioactivity of forest foods growing on different natural sites were governed by the factor designated in the current study by "territorial". The differences are to be accounted for both by forms of the Chernobyl fallout and by the natural and climatic conditions determining variations in the availability of radionuclides in the soil. In dry years the (137)Cs concentrations in some mushroom species were higher than in normal years.

Influence of the preparation "Polyen" has been studied on indexes of lipid acids contents in blood plasma, erythrocyte membrane and serum albumin of high-qualified volleyball-players. It was shown that "Polyen" has favourable effect on different metabolic pathways of lipid acids, that allow to recommend this preparation as additional component in food ration for training sportsmen.

It has been determined that in erythrocytes of professional volley-ball players given biopreparation "Polien" containing polyunsaturated fatty acids glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathway reactions are intensified and glutathione reductase activity decreased. At the same time the affinity of haemoglobin to oxygen stabilized in the sportsmen before and after intensive muscle load.

Serum albumin fatty acid composition of patients with lung and mammary gland oncopathology was investigated by chromatography method. Differences in the contents of families 6 and 3 fatty acids were showed that depend on disease stage and tumour localization. omega 6/ omega 3 ratio increase in the early stages of tumour process was established for both pathologies. These findings can be used in a diagnostic test to discover early stages of tumour.

As the result of prolonged training activity highly skilled volleyball players have marked deficiency of fatty acids of w3 family both in the blood plasma as erythrocyte membranes. These acids may be used in the lipid peroxidation processes, that is proved by the facts of POL products content and their drawing into oxidation reaction, which is certified by high level of ATP in erythrocytes. Reduction of quantity of polyunsaturated fatty acids of w3 family may be regarded as results of their insufficient arrival with food.

The authors' investigations led them to the conclusion that skilled volleyball players' erythrocytes undergo adaptive metabolic rearrangement. There was also low hemoglobin affinity to oxygen. A single training load provoked the effect of metabolic enhancement as a result of increased red cell concentration of glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and high activity of hexokinase.

Levels of lipid ligands in serum albumin from cancer patients were assayed versus tumor localization. Abnormal non-specific increase in albumin-bound lipids as well as in peroxidation products was found. Gas-liquid chromatography of different polynonsaturated fatty acids pointed to the enhancement of their metabolism via the omega 3 pathway. The despiralization-type changes in secondary structure of albumin identified by procedures of spectral analysis and the decline in reserve functional activity of protein in tumor patients were matched by a rise in levels of serum albumin-transported ligands. It is suggested that such increase in the ligand-binding ability of albumin provides a major adaptive factor involved in oncopatology.

Properties of animal serum albumin transport and its structure were studied in experimental myocarditis. The data obtained suggest that impairments in myocardium were of chronic and recurring type. The albumin exhibited a high structure-functional variability.

The ability of serum albumin to bind lipids, fatty acids and products of their peroxidation was studied in well trained sportsmen during a competitive period. Detected quantitative and qualitative alterations point to a protein involvement in metabolic changes in an adaptation to work loads.

The functional properties of serum albumin and hemoglobin were investigated in highly trained athletes. During adaptation to regular strenuous exercise, the metabolic pathway of omega 3 fatty acids intensified and the content of lipid peroxidation products in serum albumin increased. Also, hemoglobin affinity for molecular oxygen decreased and ATP concentration in red blood cells increased.

HSA structure was studied in healthy subjects and cancer patients using infrared spectroscopy. No significant differences were observed although the intensity of valent C-H fluctuation lines in alkyl groups of HSA was slightly increased in cancer patients. Gas-liquid chromatography established changes in the profile of polyunsaturated fatty acids binding to HSA in cancer patients. The data obtained suggest inhibition of omega-6 pathway of fatty acid metabolism and activation of omega-3 pathway. Marked binding of POL products to serum albumin was found nonspecific and was considered evidence of protective function of that protein.

Lipid composition and the ability of serum albumin to bind lipid components and products of their peroxidation were investigated in cyclists of different rating during moderate workloads. Ratios of subfractions of phospholipids and other lipid metabolites in blood serum albumin were determined by the method of thin-layer chromatography. Diene conjugates and diene ketones were found to be actively formed in plasma of highly trained cyclists in whom a high lipid capacity of albumin was associated with its low affinity for lipid hydroperoxides.

The ability of serum albumin to bind polyunsaturated fatty acids and products of their peroxidation in long-distance cyclists was investigated during their recovery period. In response to high workloads well trained athletes, when compared to lower class cyclists, showed a significant decrease of partial portions of linoleic, arachidonic, eicosapentaenic and other fatty acids. These findings indicate that albumin plays an important part in the transport of fatty acids and lipid peroxidation products as one of biochemical components of metabolic transformations in the course of adaptation to high workloads.

Functional ability of blood serum albumin to bind lipids, fatty acids and products of their peroxidation was studied in ischemic and non-coronary impairments of myocardium. Certain alterations were detected in the transport volumes of low molecular substances studied, which suggest the important function of albumin in biochemical shifts of bioenergetic and other metabolic reactions during myocardial impairments.
