RESUMO

Developing visible-light response photocatalysts with high activity and adsorption alongside sustainability is vitally important to environmental restoration. Here, we fabricated a novel metal organic framework (MOF) with cost-effective double-ligands (fumaric acid and 2-aminoterephthalic acid as ligand precursors, denoted as MA-MOF) via a facile solvothermal method. Specifically, crystalline [Zr6O4(OH)4(fumarate)6] (MOF-801) can be only formed with monocarboxylic acids as modulators. Therefore, in the construction of crystalline double-ligand MA-MOF, the absence of monocarboxylic acid modulators successfully prevents the formation of crystalline MOF-801. Instead, the crystalline double-ligand MA-MOF is formed. Properties of MA-MOFs including the surface area, porosity, charge transfer resistance, and energy level position can be adjusted via altering the ratio of ligands. The optimal sample, MA-MOF2 (prepared with a molar ratio of fumaric acid and 2-aminoterephthalic acid being 2:1), shows a total 94.6% removal of tetracycline via adsorption and photodegradation, far exceeding the corresponding single-ligand counterparts. This work proposes an innovative inverted modulator strategy for constructing double-ligand MOFs.

RESUMO

Objective:To discuss the strategy of fighting and containing COVID-19. Method:The speed of the spreading of the ordinary strain in Dalian on Dec. 15, 2021 caused by carrying cold-chain goods from a Russia-registered freighter and the Delta strain caused by imported cases in Guangzhou during May 20 to Jul. 23, 2021 was compared. Results:The incubation period of the first generation of the imported Delta strain of COVID-19 was 4 days, which was 5 days shorter than that of the ordinary strain of COVID-19; The time from the exposure to the Delta strain to spreading to the next person was 1/3 days shorter than that of the ordinary strain of COVID-19. The inactivated vaccine needs at least 8 days for recall immune response meanwhile the mRNA vaccine needs at least 4 days, which could not completely block the COVID-19 virus, especially the Delta strain, which can attack with an ultra-short incubation period. Meanwhile, some COVID-19 strains have an incubation period longer than 14 days, which was another reason for the outbreak. Conclusion:The time from the exposure to the COVID-19 Delta strain to spreading to the next person is 1/3 day shorter that of the ordinary strain of COIVD-19. Measures of full vaccination, physical quarantine and wearing masks in public should be taken to fight the epidemic of COVID-19, especially the Delta strain (or other variants) with an ultra-short or an ultra-long incubation period which can escape quarantine.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To identify differentially expressed proteins in the sperm of oligoasthenozoospermia (OAZ) patients and provide some theoretical evidence for the study of OAZ. METHODS: We collected semen samples from 30 OAZ patients and another 30 normal healthy males. Using the tandem mass tag (TMT) and proteomic technology, we identified differentially expressed proteins in the sperm of the OAZ patients and normal subjects, followed by gene ontology (GO) analysis and bioinformatics analysis of the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) signaling pathways. RESULTS: A total of 1 199 differentially expressed sperm proteins were obtained from the semen samples of the subjects by proteomic technology, of which 663 were up-regulated and 536 down-regulated. GO analysis preliminarily indicated that the differential proteins played a leading role in the composition and function of the ribosome, while KEGG pathway analysis showed that the differential proteins were involved in 244 signaling pathways. CONCLUSIONS: Differentially expressed proteins in the sperm of OAZ patients involve complex biological processes, molecular functions and signaling pathways, and proteomic screening and bioinformatics analysis are helpful for the study of the pathogenesis of oligoasthenozoospermia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In May 2012, an outbreak of viral hepatitis A was reported to the Guangxi Center for Disease Control and Prevention from a middle school in Liujiang County. An investigation was conducted to identify the cause and mode of transmission and to recommend control and prevention measures. METHODS: A case was defined as any person from the middle school with onset of fatigue, anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or jaundice from 20 February to 20 May 2012. We compared attack rates (AR) between boys and girls, assuming that only boys used well water and girls used pipeline water. We then selected 133 students from three classes in each of the three grades to compare AR by reported water source and drinking history. RESULTS: There were 22 cases, an AR of 3.8% (21/553) for students and 1.5% for teachers (1/65). Those who used well water were 8.7 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.1-37.2) times more likely to be ill than those using pipeline water. The cohort study showed that students who reported using well water daily were 5.2 (95% CI = 0.7-41.8) times more likely to be ill than those that reported using the pipeline water daily. Eighteen cases were confirmed as hepatitis A. CONCLUSION: This hepatitis A outbreak was potentially caused by a contaminated school well. We recommended that the school discontinue using the well and that the students should drink boiled water. As there is a vaccine for hepatitis A, we recommended that several doses of the vaccine be stored for controlling outbreaks and for immunizing susceptible populations in future outbreaks.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To improve the detection and control of infectious diseases in Guangxi, China. SETTING/PARTICIPANTS: Guangxi province in southwest China has almost 50 million people, of whom approximately 30% reside in urban and 70% in rural areas. There are 12 minority nationality groups living in the region. INTERVENTION: A village doctor reports any infectious disease outbreak to the Reporting Network, which notifies the Service Network to organize the clinical response. This is supported by the Government Network that coordinates the response among the multiple layers of local governments. OUTCOMES: Since 2002 when the Three Networks system was first started, the time from incidence to report has been shortened on average from 30.6 to 7.6 days and the number of cases has increased from slightly less than 5000 cases/year (4965) to almost 10,000 cases/year (9873). Average mortality has decreased from 3.23% to 0.74%. The Three Networks system has been successful in controlling measles outbreaks; and during SARS, when 11 cases came to Guangxi from the neighbouring Guangdong province, there were only 11 additional new cases with no community spread and no spread to medical staff. CONCLUSION: The Three Networks system has played an important role in infectious disease prevention and control in Guangxi province, and may be applicable to other areas with a similar situation.
