RESUMO

In this study, ab initio calculations (RI-MP2(full)/aug-cc-pVDZ) are performed to investigate the effect of an external electric field (EEF) on the nature, properties, and structures of C-X ··· π halogen bonds in CF3Br complexes with π systems (benzene, ethene, and ethyne), for the first time. This EEF effect is analyzed by a myriad of methods, including molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), symmetry adapted perturbation theory (SAPT), natural bond orbital (NBO), quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM), and noncovalent interaction (NCI) methods. A linear relationship is found between RI-MP2 interaction energy and the strength of the EEF, indicating that the stability of C-X ··· π halogen bonds is sensitive to both the strength and direction of the EEF. According to the SAPT analyses, when the EEF is applied along the +z direction (perpendicular to the π plane), the nature of C-X ··· π halogen bonds transforms gradually from dispersion to electrostatic for the CF3Br ··· benzene complex and from electrostatic to more electrostatic for the other complexes. However, when the EEF is applied along the -z direction, the C-X ··· π halogen bonds in all the complexes tend to be more dispersive in nature. The QTAIM analysis exhibits that the CF3Br ··· benzene complex under the EEF with strength < 0.005 au is formed by the C-X ··· πC3 and C-X ··· πring halogen bonds, while it has only the C-X ··· πC3 halogen bond when the strength of the EEF is > 0.005 au. The structural results of the studied complexes show an inverse dependence of intermolecular distance between the CF3Br and π system on the strength of the EEF.

RESUMO

The spectroscopic properties of (E)-3-(4-bromo-5-methylthiophen-2-yl)acrylonitrile have been investigated by FT-IR, UV, (1)H and (13)C NMR techniques. The theoretical vibrational frequencies and optimized geometric parameters (bond lengths and angles) have been calculated using density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP: Becke, 3-parameter, Lee-Yang-Parr) and DFT/M06-2X (the highly parameterized, empirical exchange correlation function) quantum chemical methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set by Gaussian 03 software, for the first time. The assignments of the vibrational frequencies have been carried out by potential energy distribution (PED) analysis by using VEDA 4 software. The theoretical optimized geometric parameters and vibrational frequencies were in good agreement with the corresponding experimental data, and with the results in the literature. (1)H and (13)C NMR chemical shifts were calculated by using the gauge-invariant atomic orbital (GIAO) method. The electronic properties, such as excitation energies, oscillator strength wavelengths were performed by B3LYP methods. In addition, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies and the other related molecular energy values have been calculated and depicted.

RESUMO

In the present work, the experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of 5-hydroxymethyluracil were investigated. The FT-IR (4000-400cm(-1)) spectrum of the molecule in the solid phase was recorded. The geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles), vibrational frequencies, Infrared intensities of the title molecule in the ground state were calculated using density functional B3LYP and M06-2X methods with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for the first time. The optimized geometric parameters and theoretical vibrational frequencies were found to be in good agreement with the corresponding experimental data, and with the results found in the literature. The vibrational frequencies were assigned based on the potential energy distribution using the VEDA 4 program. The dimeric form of 5-hydroxymethyluracil molecule was also simulated to evaluate the effect of intermolecular hydrogen bonding on its vibrational frequencies. It was observed that the NH stretching modes shifted to lower frequencies, while its in-plane and out-of-plane bending modes shifted to higher frequencies due to the intermolecular NH⋯O hydrogen bond. Also, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies and diagrams were presented.

RESUMO

In the present study, the experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of ethyl (2Z)-2-(2-amino-4-oxo-1,3-oxazol-5(4H)-ylidene)-3-oxo-3-phenylpropanoate (AOX) were investigated. The experimental FT-IR (400-4000 cm(-1)) and Laser-Raman spectra (100-4000 cm(-1)) of the molecule in the solid phase were recorded. Theoretical vibrational frequencies and geometric parameters (bond lengths, bond angles and torsion angles) were calculated using ab initio Hartree Fock (HF), Density Functional Theory (B3LYP and B3PW91) methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set by Gaussian 03 program, for the first time. The computed values of frequencies are scaled using a suitable scale factor to yield good coherence with the observed values. The assignments of the vibrational frequencies were performed by potential energy distribution (PED) analysis by using VEDA 4 program. The theoretical optimized geometric parameters and vibrational frequencies were compared with the corresponding experimental X-ray diffraction data, and they were seen to be in a good agreement with each other. The hydrogen bonding geometry of the molecule was also simulated to evaluate the effect of intermolecular hydrogen bonding on the vibrational frequencies. Also, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energies were found.

RESUMO

Experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of ß-2-aminopyridinium dihydrogenphosphate (ß-2APDP) have been investigated. The FT-IR spectrum of ß-2APDP was recorded in the region 4000-400 cm(-1). The optimized molecular structure and theoretical vibrational frequencies of ß-2APDP have been investigated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional B3LYP method with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The optimized geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles) and theoretical frequencies have been compared with the corresponding experimental data and it is found that they agree well with each other. All the assignments of the theoretical frequencies were performed by potential energy distributions using VEDA 4 program. Furthermore, the used scale factors were obtained from the ratio of the frequency values of the strongest peaks in the experimental and theoretical IR spectra. From the results it was concluded that the B3LYP method is superior to the HF method for the vibrational frequencies.

RESUMO

The optimized molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies, and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) (1)H and (13)C NMR shift values of 5-(4-bromophenylamino)-2-methylsulfanylmethyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester have been calculated by using Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (DFT/B3LYP) with 6-31G(d), 6-31G(d,p) and LANL2DZ basis sets. The optimized molecular geometric parameters were presented and compared with the data obtained from X-ray diffraction. In order to fit the calculated harmonic wavenumbers to the experimentally observed ones, scaled quantum mechanics force field (SQM FF) methodology was proceeded. Correlation factors between the experimental and calculated (1)H chemical shift values of the title compound in vacuum and in CHCl(3) solution by using the conductor-like screening continuum solvation model (COSMO) were reported. The calculated results showed that the optimized geometry well reproduces the crystal structure. The theoretical vibrational frequencies and chemical shifts are in very good agreement with the experimental data. In solvent media the energetic behavior of the title compound was also examined by using the B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) basis set, applying the COSMO model. The obtained results indicated that the total energy of the title compound decreases with increasing polarity of the solvent. Furthermore, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), natural bond orbital (NBO) and frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) of the title compound were performed by the B3LYP/LANL2DZ method, and also thermodynamic parameters for the title compound were calculated at all the HF and B3LYP levels.

RESUMO

The susceptibility effect of matrix material on g value of any radical has theoretically been investigated. An equation which yields the relationship between the g value of radical and the magnetic susceptibility of matrix material has been deduced. Based on this equation, it has been concluded that if the matrix material is paramagnetic the g value of the radical becomes smaller than the g value of the same radical in vacuum while it becomes higher if the matrix material is diamagnetic. These statements have been found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.

RESUMO

The optimized molecular structures, vibrational frequencies and corresponding vibrational assignments of conformations of 2-hydroxy-3-nitropyridine and 3-hydroxy-2-nitropyridine molecules have been investigated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (B3LYP) methods with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The comparison of the experimental and calculated spectra of the molecules have shown that they exist in two conformations with the two OH bond angles (110 degrees and 250 degrees ) respective to the CO bond in the ground state and their energy curves having two minimums have been drawn.

RESUMO

The molecular structures, vibrational frequencies and corresponding vibrational assignments of xanthine and its methyl derivatives (caffeine and theobromine) have been calculated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (B3LYP) methods with 6-31G(d, p) basis set level. The calculations were utilized to the C(S) symmetries of the molecules. The obtained vibrational frequencies and optimised geometric parameters (bond lengths and bond angles) were seen to be well agreement with the experimental data. The used scale factors which have been obtained the ratio of the frequency values of the strongest peaks in the calculated and experimental spectra seem to cause the gained vibrations well corresponding to the experimental ones. Theoretical infrared intensities and Raman activities are also reported.

RESUMO

The optimised molecular structures, vibrational frequencies and corresponding vibrational assignments of the cis and trans conformers of 2-, 3- and 4-pyridine carboxaldehydes have been calculated using ab initio Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional theory (B3LYP) methods with 6-311++G(d, p) basis set. The calculations were adapted to the C(S) symmetries of all the molecules. The mean vibrational deviations between the vibrational frequency values of the two conformers of all the compounds have been seen to increase while the relative energies increase and it was concluded the more different the molecular structure of the two conformers is the higher the relative energy is between them, and thus a bigger mean vibrational deviation.
