RESUMO

We have summarized the results of cytogenetic studies of peripheral blood lymphocytes conducted in the institutions of Kiev and Kharkov in persons irradiated after the accident of the Chernobyl NPP. The average level of chromosomal aberrations and the appearance of cytogenetic markers characteristic of their irradiation effect was higher in the examinees in comparison with the control. The increase in the number of aberrations in certain Kiev residents as well as the development of lymphogranulomatosis in some liquidators of the accident were detected. The increase in the frequency of chromosomal aberrations in liquidators of the accident was accompanied by the reduction in the level of reparative DNA synthesis of blood lymphocytes. The necessity to expand cytogenetic examination in persons that participated in the liquidation of the accident on the ChNPP and Kiev inhabitants is discussed.

RESUMO

Among patients with Hodgkin's disease 30 cases of the family disease were revealed during 1972-1988. The occurrence of family pairs of patients with Hodgkin's disease suggests a heritable anomaly or inheritance of a gene predisposing for this disease. In cases of contacts with second degree relatives and children from a single family, one cannot exclude a role of environmental factors and a concurrent transfer of the infectious factor. However, cases of family Hodgkin's disease might be due to a pure coincidence.

RESUMO

The authors describe immediate results of treatment of 29 patients with lymphogranulomatosis characterized by location above the diaphragm and large volume of tumour masses. Treatment included irradiation against the background of synchronization of cell cycles of the tumour cells and use of metothrexate and folic acid that allowed to reduce early and remote complications of radiation therapy due to reduction of the total radiation doses.

RESUMO

The main indices of cardiohemodynamics, phase structure of the cardiac cycle and ECG were studied in 34 patients with Hodgkin's disease aged 16 to 43: before the initiation of therapy, after a course of radiotherapy and in long term after therapy. The patients were characterized by tachycardia increasing with a degree of a process, ECG signs of myocardiodystrophy, a tendency to the formation of the phase syndrome of hypodynamia, slight pulmonary hypertension, a decrease in AP and peripheral vascular resistance. After a course of radiotherapy according to a radical program functional indices of the cardiovascular system in most of the patients returned to normal. However signs of radiation pericarditis with a favorable clinical course developed in some patients. Long after therapy positive changes in the cardiovascular system were noted among patients with IIA stage, negative shifts were noted in patients with III-IV stage.
