[The results and prospects for the vaccinal prophylaxis of mumps in Russia]. / O rezul'tatakh i perspektivakh vaktsinoprofilakiki épidemicheskogo parotita v Rossii.

In recent years the rise of morbidity in epidemic parotitis (EP) has been observed in our country, which determines the development of major outbreaks and further increase in EP morbidity due to the regular accumulation of a considerable number of susceptible persons among the vaccinees. This is mainly caused by low immunogenic potency of live parotitis vaccine produced in Russia and the insufficient content of the virus in a vaccination dose. A definite contribution is also made by the insufficient coverage of the population with vaccination, low efficiency of vaccination made in a single injection and the absence of the quality control of the vaccine in individual regions. Only the complex solution of these problems will lead to the liquidation of EP in the country.

[Use of electroacupuncture reflexotherapy in myopia]. / Primenenie élektropunkturnoi refleksoterapii pri blizorukosti.

Electroacupuncture (EAP) has been used in the management of schoolchildren with slight myopia and of senior schoolchildren with high myopia. A follow-up of 5 years has demonstrated that EAP has stopped the progress of myopia, normalized the accommodation system, improved the natural vision acuity and other visual functions.

[The significance of the photostress test for assessing the function of the macular area in chronic alcoholics]. / Znachenie fotostress-testa dlia otsenki funktsional'nogo sostoianiia makuliarnoi oblasti u bol'nykh khronicheskim alkogolizmom.

The functional state of the macula was examined by means of a photostress test in 46 patients with chronic alcoholism of stages, I, II and III before and after voluntary treatment in the hospital. The examination showed changes in the macular area in all patients irrespective of the stage. The reversible character of these changes after treatment was recorded only in one patient of the stage I.

[The importance of fluorescence angiography in the examination of patients with suspected choroidal tumor]. / Znachenie fliuorestsentnoi angiografii v obsledovanii bol'nykh s podozreniem na opukhol' khoriodei.

The paper describes results of examination of 31 patients aged from 19 to 63 years. Ophthalmoscopically, a grey focus with clear or vague limits, flat or prominent was seen on the eye fundus of all patients. The examination included determination of visual acuity, perimetry, ultrasound echography, fluorescence angiography of the eye fundus. By the character of changes of angiograms 5 groups were distinguished. In 20 eyes nevus of the choroid was diagnosed, in 8 eyes--melanoblastoma, in 3 eyes--central dystrophy of the retina. A conclusion is made that fluorescence angiography is of great importance in different diagnosis of choroidal new formations as well as in dispensary observation over patients with nevus of the choroid.
