RESUMO

The effectiveness of antibiotic prophylaxis was analysed in 1054 emergency operations (337 patients were included in the experimental group and 717 patients in the control group). The amount of suppurations was reduced from 11.5% to 5.04%; the period of staying at the hospital was shortened from 17.3 to 14.1 days.

RESUMO

The clinico-laboratory estimation of brulamycin in the treatment of 50 patients with severe wound infections showed its high efficacy with respect to gram-negative microflora and in particular Ps. aeruginosa (94 per cent of the sensitive strains). Satisfactory into the affection foci and a long-term maintenance of its therapeutic levels in the host allowed one to recommend the antibiotic for the treatment of patients with complicated purulent affections and first of all systemic infections.

RESUMO

Two methods for antibiotic prophylaxis in scheduled surgical treatment were studied comparatively. In the main group antibiotic prophylaxis with respect to 621 operations was started simultaneously with premedication, the duration of the course being defined by the operation type. With respect to 252 pure operations antibiotics were not used in 69.8 per cent of the cases or used for 2-3 days in 27.8 per cent of the cases. With respect to 253 conditionally pure operations shorter courses of antibiotic prophylaxis, i.e. for 2-3 days were used in 50.2 per cent of the cases. In the control group the antibiotics were used after operations in mean therapeutic doses, the duration of the course being defined by the clinical findings. The number of purulent complications in the main group decreased, while the amounts of the antibiotics used were much lower.

RESUMO

The data on comparative study of complications after operations on the large intestine are presented. During the preoperative period, 62 patients of the control group were treated with phthalylsulfathiazole, nevigramon and nystatin. Thirty-nine patients of the test group were treated with metronidazole and kanamycin monosulfate. Kanamycin monosulfate was used 3 days before the operation in a dose of 0.5 g orally 4 times a day whereas metronidazole in a dose of 0.5 g 3 times a day. The last doses of the drugs were administered 4-5 hours before the operation. After the operations the patients were treated with kanamycin sulfate for 3-5 days in a daily dose of 2 g intramuscularly. The number of the postoperative suppurative complications decreased from 22 to 5 per cent. No lethal outcomes were registered in the test group. The number of lethal outcomes in the control group amounted to 8 per cent.

RESUMO

Methionine incorporation into proteins of the fibrillating dog heart perfused by donor circulation was investigated. In the heart in which fibrillation was induced by electric current under conditions of adequate oxygen supply a 50-55% increase of methionine S35 incorporation into the contractile protein fraction of both ventricles was observed. In the heart in which fibrillation appeared after anoxia, methionine S35 incorporation into the sum total proteins of the atria showed 40-60% depression, into the sarcoplasmic - 36 -53%, and into the contractile proteins of both ventricles - 18 -30% decrease.
