RESUMO

The results of treatment of 129 patients with acute suppurative lactic mastitis are presented. In severe forms of the disease, the use of combined antibiotic therapy+ permits to shorten the duration of in-patient treatment from 13.5 to 10.3 days, prevent the disease recurrence.

RESUMO

Tests for hemocultures were performed in 51 patients with clinical diagnoses of sepsis treated in a reanimation unit. Microbial cultures were isolated from 30 patients (58.9 per cent). Staphylococci in pure cultures and associations were the causative agents of sepsis in 26 patients (86.4 per cent). The cultures of E. coli, Y. enterocolitica and Streptococcus faecalis were isolated from 2, 1 and 1 patients, respectively. Pus specimens from 111 patients with postinjection suppuration were tested and staphylococci in pure cultures and associations were detected in 90 patients (81.8 per cent). The cultures of P. vulgaris, Streptococcus pyogenes, E. coli, Str. faecalis, Enterobacter spp. and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated from 10, 5, 3, 1, 1 and 1 patients, respectively. The results showed that Staphylococci played the leading role in development of the hospital infections. Treatment of such patients should be performed with an account of antibioticograms since many strains are resistant to various antibiotics.

RESUMO

The modification of the titration technique involves addition (in microvolumes) of various solvent quantities to equal blood serum volumes, followed by levelling of liquid volumes, and then addition of equal toxin doses. Serum dilutions: No. 1 - 1: 0.5 of toxin working dose, etc., provide a registration scale with 1 U interval. This modification makes the method more accurate and simple.

RESUMO

The results of clinical observations on 34 patients with toxoplasmosis affecting mainly eyes over the period of 2-6 years are presented. The presence of antibodies to Toxoplasma, the content of IgA, IgM and IgG, as well as a number of characteristics of the T and B immunity systems in these patients were determined in their dynamics. For control, similar characteristics were determined in 28 practically healthy persons. During the period of observation the patients showed multiple fluctuations in the level of titers of serological reactions with toxoplasmic antigens and changes in the severity of the clinical picture. In contrast to healthy persons, toxoplasmosis patients were found to have statistically significant changes in a number of characteristics of the T immunity system. The content of B lymphocytes remained within normal limits. Complex treatment with the use of immunostimulating agents proved to be effective only in some of the patients.

RESUMO

The results of the immunoleukolysis test in 699 women on the 32nd week of pregnancy are presented. Of these, 48 women were examined 1 month and 6 months after the third injection. In this test staphylococcal allergen and E. coli allergen were used. Staphylococcal toxoid was found to have desensitizing action in persons with enhanced initial allergic state. The authors conclude that the immunoleukolysis test may ensure differential approach to the immunization of pregnant women with staphylococcal toxoid.
