RESUMO

Cryoglobulinemia is a biochemical disorder accompanying many infectious, systemic, and lymphoproliferative conditions. Cryoglobulins are proteins capable of reversible precipitation or gel formation at temperatures below 37 degrees C. There are 3 types of cryoglobulins depending on the type of immunoglobulins in their composition; hence, three types of cryoglobulinemia occurring in different diseases. Clinical manifestations of cryoglobulinemia are sometimes inapparent, various combinations of the symptoms of the disease frequently occur. An example of atypical acute cryoglobulinemic vasculitis in a patient with multiple myeloma and viral hepatitis B is presented. Methods of diagnostics of this disease and its treatment are described.

RESUMO

Paraneoplastic syndromes have a variety of clinical manifestations most frequently resembling systemic diseases and phlebothrombosis. Also, hypercoagulative paraneoplasic syndrome may have some clinical features of myocardial infarction which makes difficult nosological diagnostics.

RESUMO

Hearts of 45 children dying with respiratory infections were studied by light and luminescent microscopy. Specific and nonspecific changes in tissues were found. Nonspecific changes consisted in disorders of microcirculation, degenerative, and necrotic processes in cardiomyocytes, and disorganization of the connective tissue of the endocardium and interstitial tissue of the myocardium, whereas specific changes included the presence of viral and mycoplasmal antigens in endotheliocytes and cardiomyocytes as well as metamorphosis of the latter detected mainly in adenovirus infection and mycoplasmosis. Analogous nonspecific and specific changes were also discovered in cytomegalovirus and Coxsackie virus infections which in some children were accompanied by acute respiratory infections.
