RESUMO

AIM: To study the annual cycle of blood pressure (BP) and weather sensitivity in normotensive women aged 20-59 years. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The same group of 25 non-smoking women who had been living in the European North of Russia (62° N, 51° E) almost since their birth and were engaged in moderate-intensity mental labor was daily examined. During a year, there were 11823 blood pressure measurements using the Korotkoff technique; heart rate was calculated by palpation. These meteorological parameters were taken at the websites: http://meteo.infospace.ru and ftp://ftp.ngdc.noaa.gov/stp/geomagnetic_data/indices/kp_ap. The statistical significance of differences in the indicators was determined using the Fisher's test and the Newman-Keuls test. The study used a correlation analysis with the calculation of the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. RESULTS: The maximum systolic and diastolic BP values were revealed in February and January, respectively. The minimum values of systolic BP were detected in July; those of diastolic BP were in August. An individual-based analysis of sensitivity to environmental variations showed that about 88% of the women responded to atmospheric temperature; nearly 44% did to geomagnetic activity; almost 24% were sensitive to relative air humidity, and about 16% of the women were to atmospheric pressure. CONCLUSION: The dynamics of systolic and diastolic BP in the annual cycle of women depends on meteorological factors and suggests that there is a change in the priorities of its control in different periods of a year.

RESUMO

The baths with emulsified turpentine find the wide application in balneotherapy. They produce especially pronounced beneficial prophylactic effects in the patients presenting with microtrombosis and microvascular stasis. Moreover, these baths may be prescribed to improve microcirculation, increase the functional reserves and physical capacity in the athletes. At the same time, the current literature appears to contain no scientific publications on the application of emulsified turpentine baths for the restoration of the physical capacity of the professional ski runners. The lack of relevant information motivated the study reported in the present article. The main objective of the study involving 10 subjects was to evaluate the effectiveness of the modified emulsified turpentine baths as a method by which to restore and enhance the physical capacity of the professional cross-country skiers. The physical capacity of the athletes was evaluated from the results of the bicycle ergometer exercise test with the use of the «Oxycon Pro¼ system. The data obtained suggest that a course of the emulsified turpentine baths increases the activity of the cardiorespiratory system, improves the physical capacity, and enhances the functional reserves of the body in the anaerobic zone.

RESUMO

Complex investigations of adolescences (14-15 years) residing on the European North at 62 and 65 degrees latitudes have been carried out. It was shown that the latitude factor on the North affected on mature organism of adolescences already at a difference of residence place on 3 degrees. The decrease of tolerance to hypoxemia, quality of hemodynamic regulation at short-term physical activity, physical health level, nervous processes rate (switching of attention) and the increase of plasma lactate level (attribute of hypoxia) were shown in adolescences residing at higher latitudes. The sexual distinctions and features of northerner organism on a lot of parameters in adolescences were revealed.

RESUMO

The annual cycle in young men (19.0 +/- 0.9 years), inhabitants of the European North (62 degrees) were studied: peak (PVR) and the instantaneous volumetric rate at the time of expiration 25, 50, 75% of forced vital capacity (FVC), average volume rate during exhalation from 25 to 75% FVC, respiration rate, time to attain the PRV and FVC. Indicators of lung function were determined on microprocessor spirograph SPM-01-R-D. Revealed that young men in the annual cycle significantly (F-test) changed only the speed characteristics of respiratory function, time function had no significant differences. Also is revealed a more variation in the annual cycle of values of speed parameters of lung function compared with those for the inhabitants of middle latitudes, indicating that the adaptive responses of lung function and certain restriction ofbronchial permeability on the level of medium and especially small bronchi. The peak and the instantaneous volumetric rate at the time of expiration 25, 50 and 75% FVC and the average volumetric expiratory flow rate in the range of 25 to 75% of forced vital capacity of lungs from male northerners in the cold season more, in warm weather--less.

RESUMO

The purpose of the study was to determine external respiratory function in adolescent and adult females (n = 492) aged 15 to 79 years who lived in European North (62" NL), by using a spirograph with a SPM-01-"R-D" microprocessor. The results were statistically processed by the F-test. The adolescent and adult females residing in the European North were found to have a hyperventilation syndrome, decreased respiration rate, increased tidal volume, vital capacity, and forced vital capacity.

RESUMO

Evaluated were consequences of changes in oxygen demand, bronchial conduction, exercise performance, functioning of antioxidant enzymes and body provision with natural oxidants for the level of free-radical oxidation products in human organism. To this end, a group of essentially healthy young male northerners spending much time outdoors was surveyed over a one-year period. Among the listed parameters oxidation of free radicals was particularly sensitive to seasonal insufficiency of some of the antioxidant enzymes.

RESUMO

The purpose of the study was to determine the function of external breath in teenage and adult women ranging from 15 to 79 years old. 492 people from the age groups of 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-79 years were examined by the help of a spirograf supplied with a microprocessor of SPM-01 -"R-D". The results were processed statistically by the F- and t-criterion method. The parameters of the function of external breath (V, VC, FVC tests), except inspiratory reserve volume and capacity breath, proved to be changing in age dynamics (p < 0.01).

RESUMO

Analysis of amplitude-temporary characteristics of the electrocardiogram (ECG) of practically healthy inhabitants of the European North at the age from 20 to 59 years old (n 278) was carried out in order to estimate indices and leads of ECG reflecting the aging changes with a more accuracy. The age dynamics of ECG is more expressed for men with following leads: aVL, III, V4, and aVF while leads aVL and V2 are peculiar for women. An amplitude of the waves S, T, R and P for men as well as R, T and Q for women in ECG was found to change more significantly since the third decade of life to the sixth one. An elongation of the intervals Q-T and R-R as well as the segment S-T is observed in ECG of men and women with ageing of inhabitants of the European North since 20-29 to 50-59 years old demonstrated an appearance of symptoms of hypertrophy of the heart departments, a heart electrical axis deviation to more left position, and delay of de- and repolarisation processes, failed to reach the clinically significant values.
