RESUMO

In the experiments at Wistar male rats the effect of subtherapeutic doses of docetaxel (5 and 10 mg/kg) on the radiotherapy efficacy (20 Gy of single-dose X-rays) namely growth rate of Guerin's tumor and prooxidant-antioxidant balance in liver and blood of animals bearing tumors was investigated. It has been demonstrated that docetaxel at dose 5 mg/kg given 18 hours before irradiation resulted in significant tumor growth delay (2.3-2.7-fold) in comparison with group of rats that received only irradiation. After application of higher dose of docetaxel there was no statistically significant change of tumor size along the whole experiment (14 and 21 days after tumor implantation). Content of lipid peroxidation products was revealed to be considerably increased after chemotherapy and concurrent irradiation when docetaxel was used in a dose of 10 mg/kg. At the same time glutatione peroxidase activity and antioxidative activity of blood plasma were reduced. In the rat liver chemoradiotherapy led to decrease of glutathion peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase activity to greater degree at docetaxel dose of 10 mg/kg. The obtained results allow to conclude that higher dose of docetaxel and concurrent irradiation resulted in the most effective Guerin's carcinoma growth delay and considerable deviation of antioxidant-prooxidant balance of tissues in the direction of the last.

RESUMO

The results of radionuclide investigation of the bone marrow in 44 patients (of them 32 with polycythemia vera) were presented. The informative value of bone marrow scintigraphy and whole-body radiometry using 99mTc-coren was shown in the patients with polycythemia vera at advanced stages. The results obtained made it possible to specify a clinical stage and prognosis of disease, and to optimize therapy.

RESUMO

Radionuclide examination findings of the renal hemodynamics of 70 patients with cavernous tuberculosis of the kidney are presented. Before the indirect radionuclide pharmacoangiography, 58 of these patients received two groups of drugs having different impact on renal vessels. The indirect radionuclide pharmacoangiography method is atraumatic and highly informative, and allows one to evaluate a morphofunctional status of the renal vessel channel in patients with tuberculosis of the kidney for the purpose of treatment tactics assessment and complex therapy efficacy monitoring. The sensitivity and accuracy of the method are 81 and 86%, respectively.

RESUMO

The hematotoxicity of cytostatics was found enhanced if these agents were used in therapy of oncologic patients with disordered functional activity of the hepatorenal system. Decreased absorption and excretory functions of the hepatocytes or renal abnormalities associated with impaired glomerular filtration and secretory-excretory function are the factors that contribute to the development of leukopenia by the middle or end of the treatment course. This permits a conclusion on the prognostic value of examinations of liver and kidney function in cases with the development of secondary hemodepression in chemotherapy of oncologic patients.

RESUMO

Bone marrow scintigraphy with 111In-citrin was used to investigate 55 patients with varying hemoblastoses. The high informative value of the method was shown in extended stages of polycythemia vera, lymphogranulomatosis, multiple myeloma and in leukemia. The method enables assessment of the morphofunctional state of the whole solid mass of the hemopoietic tissue. The data of bone marrow scintigraphy with 111In-citrin can be useful in determination of the disease stage, optimum scheme of its treatment, the therapeutic effectiveness control and prognosis of hemoblastoses.

RESUMO

Altogether 54 patients with thyroid nodal lesions (40 of them had thyroid carcinoma) were investigated by 75Se-methionine and a thyrotropic RP. 75Se-methionine turned out to be inappropriate for differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid lesions because of many false-negative results. The combination of positive scanning with 75Se-methionine and 99mTc-pertechnetate (or 131I) raised the diagnostic informative value of the method.

RESUMO

A study was made of liver and renal function using radionuclide methods in 51 thyroid cancer patients on radio-iodine therapy. Multimodality examination of the patients revealed no clinical manifestations of hepatocellular and renal failure even in significant therapeutic activities up to 40 GBq and more. Hepatography and renography showed a decrease in absorptive and secretory hepatocytic function, an increase in the period of hippuran half-life and a decrease in total renal function. The revealed changes were of moderate nature, stable and related both to hypothyrosis and a radiation factor.
