RESUMO

We report the relaxometric dataset obtained on renneted milk during syneresis by Time-Domain Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (TD-NMR). Data were obtained on cow's milk provided by two different producers in two different lactation seasons (April and October) and on a group of goat's milk samples (one season, November-December, one producer). TD-NMR data refer to spin-spin relaxation times (T2) decay curves and distributions measured at 40 °C at seven time points after rennet addition, up to 70 minutes of syneresis. Curd was cut 30 min after rennet addition without removing the NMR tube from the TD-NMR instrument. The dataset here reported is related to the research article entitled "Non invasive monitoring of curd syneresis upon renneting of raw and heat-treated cow's and goat's milk" [E. Curti, A. Pardu, S. Del Vigo, R. Sanna, R. Anedda, Non-invasive monitoring of curd syneresis upon renneting of raw and heat-treated cow's and goat's milk, Int. Dairy J. 90 (2019) 95-97].

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Sleep disorders should be routinely evaluated and treated in low back pain (LBP) patients because they represent an important contributor to pain. However, no study thus far has investigated the potential benefit to LBP management of a device improving the sleep quality. Therefore, aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an innovative mattress overlay as add-on treatment to LBP rehabilitation. METHODS: Thirty eight LBP patients were randomized to standard rehabilitation plus mattress overlay use (cases) or standard rehabilitation only (controls). The intervention duration was 2 months and the following assessments were performed before and after: pain intensity; level of perceived back disability and sleep health; spine mobility; thickness and echo intensity of the lumbar multifidus. RESULTS: Significant pre-post-intervention improvements were observed in cases for resting and movement pain, perceived back disability, sleep, fingertip-to-floor distance, multifidus thickness (∼ 6% increase) and echo intensity (∼ 13% decrease). On the contrary, all these variables remained constant between the two experimental phases in controls. CONCLUSIONS: A combination of rehabilitation and mattress overlay use seems an effective approach for improvement of pain, perceived back disability, sleep, spine mobility, and lumbar multifidus size and structure of LBP patients.

IIntroduction: Orofacial pain is still not a very well known subject for General Dentists. However, many times the Dentist is the first one to be asked when a patient suffers craniofacial pain. The complexity of the anatomical area and the varieties of orofacial pain, can make an accurate diagnosis very difficult. The aim of this article is to help the clinician to make an approximate differential diagnosis, based on the areas where the patient feels pain. Method: Bibliographic research in PubMed and speciality books to determine the characteristics of pathologies with orofacial pain and their locations. We have used a drawing to determine anatomical areas where the pain could be felt due to different orofacial pathologies. results: Two drawings of the face have been used, frontal view and lateral view with the anatomic areas divided in them. Furthermore, two diagrams (1 and 2) have also been made to associate orofacial areas and pathologies which cause pain in the area. conclusIon: Using the diagrams, the Dentist can make an approximate differential diagnosis. With this system it is possible to minimise the delay between the patients’ first appointment and patient treatment or timeous referral (AU)

RESUMO

Some differently substituted 3-aryl-4,5-dihydropyrazoles-1-carbothioamides have been synthesised with the aim to investigate their monoamine oxidase inhibitory activity. The chemical structures of the compounds have been characterized by means of their IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR spectroscopic data and elemental analyses. All the active compounds showed a selective activity towards the B isoform of the enzyme, regardless of the substitution on the heterocyclic ring. The inhibition of the enzymatic activity was measured on human recombinant MAO isoforms, expressed in baculovirus infected BTI insect cells. Docking experiments were carried out with the aim to rationalize the mechanism of inhibition of the most active and selective compound.
