RESUMO

Objetivo. En este artículo revisamos los puntos clave indispensables para realizar una correcta estadificación del cáncer de cérvix mediante resonancia magnética. Conclusión. La resonancia magnética es el método de elección para la estadificación locorregional del cáncer de cérvix. Una correcta valoración de sus factores pronósticos, como el tamaño tumoral, la invasión de estructuras adyacentes y la presencia de metástasis ganglionares, resulta fundamental para decidir un adecuado manejo terapéutico (AU)

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To review the key points that are essential for the correct staging of cervical cancer by magnetic resonance imaging. CONCLUSION: Magnetic resonance imaging is the method of choice for locoregional staging of cervical cancer. Thorough evaluation of prognostic factors such as tumor size, invasion of adjacent structures, and the presence of lymph node metastases is fundamental for planning appropriate treatment.

Los principales avances en el campo de las técnicas convencionales de imagen diagnóstica se habían centrado tanto en mejorar la resolución espacial y la velocidad de adquisición de los datos como en la introducción de nuevos medios de contraste. Sin embargo, los tumores representan modelos biológicos tremendamente complejos y existe una serie de características (hipoxia, metabolismo, celularidad, angiogénesis o funcionalismo de los ganglios linfáticos) de gran importancia en el campo de la oncología que no pueden estudiarse adecuadamente con estos métodos diagnósticos. En este trabajo se presenta la posible aportación de distintas técnicas de imagen funcional basadas en el uso de la tomografía computarizada, la resonancia magnética o la tomografía por emisión de positrones para obtener información de características y procesos biológicamente muy importantes para el diagnóstico, la estadificación, la planificación terapéutica, la valoración de respuesta o el seguimiento evolutivo de los pacientes oncológicos, así como para el desarrollo de nuevos fármacos (AU)

RESUMO

Cardiac tumors are a rare disease. We show here one patient with a heart osteogenic sarcoma with chondroblastic differentiation. The clinical status was initiated with a cadre of cardiac tamponade. Transesophageal echocardiography and thoracic scanner were used to diagnose the cardiac tumor. The definitive diagnosis was confirmed with biopsy. At the present moment, there are very few cases reported in the references on osteogenic sarcoma with chondroblastic differentiation. The methods of diagnosis, the treatment and the histopathology are discussed.

RESUMO

We report the ultrasound, CT, and MR findings in a patient with Riedel thyroiditis. The hypointensity of the lesion observed on T1- and T2-weighted sequences, especially when associated with infiltration of adjacent structures of the neck, can be suggestive of Riedel thyroiditis.
