RESUMO
Hematidrosis (bloody sweat) and hemolacria (bloody tears) are very rare phenomena. The authors herein report hematidrosis and hemolacria occurring together in a 10-year-old girl. The role of propranolol in its treatment is highlighted.

We present a report of three cases with vesicles containing opalescent fluid grouped over the face and scattered on the trunk and limbs. Culture of the fluid aspirated from the vesicles grew Staphylococcus aureus in two of the three cases. The observation of vesicles grouped on the face in a sick febrile child should prompt the diagnosis of a severe staphylococcal septicemia.

Citrobacter, a Gram-negative enteric bacillus, is a rare cause of septicemia and meningitis, seldom reported beyond the neonatal period. It is characterized by a fulminant clinical course and a high incidence of complications, including brain abscesses. We studied a three-month-old infant with Citrobacter meningitis, who developed acute communicating hydrocephalus and multiple periventricular brain abscesses while on treatment. The patient died, despite intensive antibiotic treatment directed towards the causative organism, C. diversus.
