Assays of urine-polyamine levels were run in 66 patients with ovarian tumors. The levels of polyamine excretion were found to be significantly higher in cases of malignant epithelial tumors than in control. In the course of effective therapy, polyamine concentration showed a sharp increase followed by a decrease in posttreatment period. The index of therapy efficacy (Formula: see text) was in a strict correlation with the clinical status in 78% of cases. Polyamine tests should be recommended for diagnosis, evaluating the effectiveness of therapy and making prognosis.

The effectiveness of treatment of early cancer of the uterine cervix (TIS, Tla and Tlb) is subject to evaluation of tumor stage, concomitant diseases and patient's age as well as the degree of neoplastic process and immunologic vigor. Complex treatment should be unoffensive for immunity. Immunodepressive agents should be used in conjunction with immunostimulants.

In the present work the authors have employed their personal modification of the technic of interferon reaction of lymphocytes, which consists in using the lymphocytes isolated from regional lymph nodes but not from the peripheral blood as described in the literature. The titres of interferon produced in vitro by the lymphocytes of lymph nodes, removed during the operation in cervical cancer patients, were shown to correlate well with the clinico-morphological changes, indicating the rate of the regional lymphoid tissue response. The mentioned correlation speaks in favour of the prognostic value of the interferon reaction of regional lymph nodes lymphocytes in cervical cancer.
