Although rare, doctors and dentists should be aware of the possible occurrence of oral lesions of tuberculosis and consider them in the differential diagnosis of suspicious oral ulcers.

Spontaneous palatal fenestration: review of the literature and report of a case.

A 42-year-old, edentulous man presented with a defect in his hard palate. He gave a history of a painless lump one year previously which had discharged after a week. Investigations showed only long-standing hypoplasia of the left palatine process, with no evidence of any destructive process. We assumed that the fistula had developed as a result of breakdown of the mucosa covering an isolated cleft of the hard palate. We offered him repair, but he preferred to rely on his maxillary complete denture to cover the defect, and this has worked.

The effect of dexamethasone on neurapraxia following third molar surgery.

A double blind, controlled trial was undertaken to assess the effect of intra-muscular dexamethasone on neurapraxia following the surgical removal of mandibular third molars. No significant difference was found 24 h post-operatively between a control group and a group given dexamethasone.

Long standing trismus as the initial presentation of acute catatonic schizophrenia.

A case is reported where long standing trismus was the presenting factor in a case of catatonic schizophrenia. The investigations and treatment are described.

Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint.

Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is a rare, benign condition of metaplastic change of the synovium. A case is reported and the world literature is reviewed.

Cervicofacial toxoplasmosis.

Toxoplasmosis is a common infection often presenting as lymphadenopathy in the cervicofacial region. Despite this it is only rarely considered in differential diagnosis. Two cases are presented, the first showing the usual presentation, the second showing an uncommon presentation of toxoplasmosis.
