RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study disorders of mental development and psychopathological symptoms in young children with autistic disorders of various origins. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Two hundred and sixty-five children, aged 9 months to 4 years, (201 boys, 64 girls) with symptoms of autistic disorder were examined. The patients were divided into two age groups - the 1st group consisted of 36 children, aged 9 months to 2 years, the 2nd group consisted of 229 children from 2 years to 4 years. Psychopathological, neurological and clinical-dynamic methods were used, taking into account the results of consultations with a speech therapist, defectologist, psychologist. RESULTS: The number of visits to a psychiatrist by parents of children older than two years becomes significantly higher - 13.6% (n=36) and 86.4% (n=112), respectively (p≤0.05), as well as the diagnosis of autistic disorder - 8.3% (n=3) and 16.2% (n=37) respectively, p≤0.05). In both age groups, the diagnosis of «Other general developmental disorders¼ (F84.8) was most often established, with a significant predominance in the younger group - 80.5% and 72%, respectively (p≤0.05). Characteristic symptoms-markers of autism for both age groups are highlighted. It is shown that the diagnoses of childhood autism, Kanner syndrome, exposed at the first treatment, were preserved in all patients after three years. By the age of four, it was possible to clarify the diagnosis in 32% of cases. At the same time, 68% of patients, aged 4 years, retained a clinically undifferentiated diagnosis of F84.8. CONCLUSION: The study showed an increase in the diagnosis of autistic disorder during the first years of life. The necessity of increasing the knowledge of early-age psychiatry among specialists and the organization of a system of early detection, timely treatment and rehabilitation of autistic disorders in children of the first years of life in children's polyclinics is noted.

RESUMO

Plant morphology and seed germination have been studied in several species joining monodominant beds of pioneer plant species on loose volcanic matter on the Kamchatka Peninsula and Kuril Islands. The competition of these species is discussed.

RESUMO

A seed response to cryopreservation has been studied in 11 endemic plant species from the Russian Far East to determine the possibility of their long-term storage. It has been shown that the cryogenic treatment does not kill seeds. The viability of 10 species did not decrease (or even increased) after their cryogenic storage. We have not revealed any deviations in the development of plants germinated from seeds stored at an extremely low temperature (-196 degrees C). To monitor germination after long-term storage, procedures of seed germination under laboratory conditions have been developed. The results of this study contribute to the creation of low-temperature seed banks, able to conserve and restore a floral biological diversity.

RESUMO

Cryotolerance of seeds has been studied in 103 plant species of 33 families from five regions of the Russian Far East. In 89.1% of these species, seed viability has not decreased in the course of cryogenic storage. Six species have shown interpopulation variation in the seed response to extremely low temperature (-196 degrees C). Freezing in liquid nitrogen, which results in deep anabiosis, can be used as a means for long-term seed storage. A preliminary assessment of genetic diversity at the population level provides for the maximum possible mobilization of the species gene pool. The results of this study contribute to the development of a scientific basis for creating a seed bank of the Far Eastern flora with the purpose to conserve and restore biological resources of the region.

RESUMO

Biomorphology, quantitative characters and seed germination of 17 pioneer plant species friable materials of volcanic eruptions (Kamchatka Peninsula) were studied. Adaptive trends in survival stress conditions are discussed. To evaluate a possibility of the cryogenic seed storage, their response to ultra low temperatures (-196 degrees C) was determine.

RESUMO

AIM: To study effectiveness of recombinant interferon-alpha (Ifna) in patients with chronic hepatitis C with normal transaminases. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 26 patients with positive tests for abHCV and RNA HCV with a normal level of alaninaminotransferase (AlAT) entered the study. 16 patients of the test group received recombinant Ifna three times a week in a dose 3 mln IU. Mean duration of interferon therapy was 7.44 +/- 4.27 months. Control group consisted of 10 patients with natural course of the disease. Biochemical, virusological and morphological examinations were conducted in all the patients. The patients were followed up for 1.5-2 years, on the average. RESULTS: Treatment with recombinant Ifna was well tolerated. A persistent positive virusological response after the treatment was achieved in 25% of the test patients. They exhibited improvement of histological structure of the liver. In control group the dynamics was opposite. CONCLUSION: In patients with chronic hepatitis C with normal transaminases level interferon therapy improves structure of hepatic tissue. Puncture biopsy of the liver is the main method which determines the validity of the treatment and its efficacy.

RESUMO

This study aimed to examine anti hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody titres, their changes and differences in acute, chronic and past HCV infection and to examine them after IFN-alpha-therapy. Ninety five patients were studied in a cross-sectional investigation and 18 of them were followed long-term. Titres of IgM and IgG antibodies against core, NS3, NS4 (A + B), NS5A proteins were determined by the third generation enzyme immunoassays. Patients with acute hepatitis C developed IgG antibodies against core protein in titres 1/5-1/800 and against individual NS proteins at the same titres. During the first to second month of acute hepatitis C IgG antibody titres to HCV proteins were very low, but they had risen considerably by the fourth to sixth month. Anti-HCV IgM antibodies were found in half the acute hepatitis serum samples, titres were 1/5-1/40. Sixty individuals with chronic hepatitis C showed IgG antibodies against core in titres 1/800-1/40,000 and against individual NS proteins in titres 1/5-1/20,000. Eight patients with chronic hepatitis C had invariable anti-HCV IgG antibodies over 2-3 years. About 81.7% of chronically infected patients had anti-HCV IgM antibodies in titres 1/5-1/160. Patients with resolution of HCV infection showed only anti-core IgG antibodies (titres 1/5-1/200) or no virus-specific antibodies. Individuals with different response to IFN-alpha-therapy showed two distinct patterns of anti-HCV antibody titres. Acute and chronic HCV infection may be distinguished by anti-core titres.

RESUMO

In contrast to total cell irradiation, local UV-microbeam irradiation can stimulate a significant diminution in the irradiated mature nucleoli in interphase mammalian cells in culture. This diminution is accompanied by the concomitant expansion of the unirradiated nucleoli within the same nucleus, and the total nucleolar volume per nucleus does not change appreciably. It is suggested that these nucleolar volume changes are the result of the dispersion, migration, and redistribution of the nucleolar material between competitive nucleolar organizer regions of the interphase nucleus.
