RESUMO

We prove existence and uniqueness of a solution to the Cauchy problem corresponding to the dynamics capillarity equation ∂ t u ε , δ + div f ε , δ ( x , u ε , δ ) = ε Δ u ε , δ + δ ( ε ) ∂ t Δ u ε , δ , x ∈ M , t ≥ 0 u | t = 0 = u 0 ( x ) . Here, f ε , δ and u 0 are smooth functions while ε and δ = δ ( ε ) are fixed constants. Assuming f ε , δ → f ∈ L p ( R d × R ; R d ) for some 1 < p < ∞ , strongly as ε → 0 , we prove that, under an appropriate relationship between ε and δ ( ε ) depending on the regularity of the flux f , the sequence of solutions ( u ε , δ ) strongly converges in L loc 1 ( R + × R d ) toward a solution to the conservation law ∂ t u + div f ( x , u ) = 0 . The main tools employed in the proof are the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem for the first part and reduction to the kinetic formulation combined with recent results in the velocity averaging theory for the second. These results have the potential to generate a stable semigroup of solutions to the underlying scalar conservation laws different from the Kruzhkov entropy solutions concept.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Before 2010, donor detection rate and donor conversion rate at our tertiary level care institution were low. To assess the effectiveness of the implemented organizational changes, an analysis of organizational indicators with the use of the DOPKI (Improving the Knowledge and Practices in Organ Donation) project was conducted. METHODS: Three groups of DOPKI indicators were used: indicators of the potential for deceased organ donation, indicators on areas for improvement in the deceased donation process, and indicators of program effectiveness. We compared the 3-year period before instituting organizational measures with the 3-year period after the changes. RESULTS: Significant differences in almost all DOPKI indicators were found. Most importantly, the number of actual donors has increased significantly, pointing to the effectiveness of the organizational measures that we put in place in 2010. In addition, the study highlights the value of the use of DOPKI indicators in one intensive care unit to improve the transplant program on a hospital level. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude by arguing that despite the lack of a uniform national database, DOPKI indicators could still be useful for improving the quality of donor programs.

RESUMO

Trauma is one of the leading causes of mortality in the world. Traumatic injury has a significant impact on the patient, socially, functionally and financially. Orthopaedic injuries are generally not life-threatening unless they result in significant hemodynamic instability. The outcome of the orthopaedic injuries might lead to mild or severe disability and lost quality of life. Therefore, the orthopaedic surgeon has significant role in treatment of trauma patient. In order to control and prevent traumatic injuries, to improve quality of trauma treatment and outcome, including the costs the National trauma registry is essential. The aim of the study was to collect the datas about the frequency of orthopaedic injuries in polytraumatised patients who were treated in intensive care unit of Emergency Center of Serbia in last two years. There were significant number of orthopaedic injuries (53.2%) in polytraumatised patients. The major cause of the injuries is traffic (78.6%) and most patients were between 30-50 years (30%).

RESUMO

In the Emergency Center of the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit Belgrade, in the one-year period (from January, 1st 1992 to December, 31st 1992), 54 injured patients with severe head injuries associated with chest trauma were treated. In all injured patients the following parameters were considered: sex, age, mechanism of injury, surgical procedures, and fatal outcome. Thirty-nine patients (72.22%) survived.
