RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a deadly cancer with no clinically ideal biomarkers for early diagnosis. The objective of this study was to develop and validate a user-friendly diagnostic tool for early ESCC detection. METHODS: The study encompassed three phases: discovery, verification, and validation, comprising a total of 1309 individuals. Serum autoantibodies were profiled using the HuProtTM human proteome microarray, and autoantibody levels were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Twelve machine learning algorithms were employed to construct diagnostic models, and evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). The model application was facilitated through R Shiny, providing a graphical interface. RESULTS: Thirteen autoantibodies targeting TAAs (CAST, FAM131A, GABPA, HDAC1, HDGFL1, HSF1, ISM2, PTMS, RNF219, SMARCE1, SNAP25, SRPK2, and ZPR1) were identified in the discovery phase. Subsequent verification and validation phases identified five TAAbs (anti-CAST, anti-HDAC1, anti-HSF1, anti-PTMS, and anti-ZPR1) that exhibited significant differences between ESCC and control subjects (P < 0.05). The support vector machine (SVM) model demonstrated robust performance, with AUCs of 0.86 (95% CI: 0.82-0.89) in the training set and 0.83 (95% CI: 0.78-0.88) in the test set. For early-stage ESCC, the SVM model achieved AUCs of 0.83 (95% CI: 0.79-0.88) in the training set and 0.83 (95% CI: 0.77-0.90) in the test set. Notably, promising results were observed for high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, with an AUC of 0.87 (95% CI: 0.77-0.98). The web-based implementation of the early ESCC diagnostic tool is publicly accessible at https://litdong.shinyapps.io/ESCCPred/ . CONCLUSION: This study provides a promising and easy-to-use diagnostic prediction model for early ESCC detection. It holds promise for improving early detection strategies and has potential implications for public health.

RESUMO

Grooming, as an evolutionarily conserved repetitive behavior, is common in various animals, including humans, and serves essential functions including, but not limited to, hygiene maintenance, thermoregulation, de-arousal, stress reduction, and social behaviors. In rodents, grooming involves a patterned and sequenced structure, known as the syntactic chain with four phases that comprise repeated stereotyped movements happening in a cephalocaudal progression style, beginning from the nose to the face, to the head, and finally ending with body licking. The context-dependent occurrence of grooming behavior indicates its adaptive significance. This review briefly summarizes the neural substrates responsible for rodent grooming behavior and explores its relevance in rodent models of neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases with aberrant grooming phenotypes. We further emphasize the utility of rodent grooming as a reliable measure of repetitive behavior in neuropsychiatric models, holding promise for translational psychiatry. Herein, we mainly focus on rodent self-grooming. Allogrooming (grooming being applied on one animal by its conspecifics via licking or carefully nibbling) and heterogrooming (a form of grooming behavior directing towards another animal, which occurs in other contexts, such as maternal, sexual, aggressive, or social behaviors) are not covered due to space constraints.

RESUMO

Herein, a series of novel arylpiperazine (piperidine) derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for mechanisms of action through in vitro and in vivo studies. The most promising compound, II-13 (later named as MT-1207), is a potent α1 and 5-HT2A receptor antagonist with remarkable IC50 in the picomolar level. Importantly, in the in vivo assay, II-13 achieved an effective blood pressure (BP) reduction in the 2K2C rat model without damaging renal function. Compound II-13, with its significant advantages in terms of pharmacological effects, pharmacokinetic parameters, and a large safety window, was extensively investigated. Moreover, data also showed that compound II-13 had fewer side effects in a postural BP assay and could prevent the onset of postural hypotension. Together, these results suggested that compound II-13 is a highly potent antihypertensive drug candidate with multitarget mechanisms of action in preclinical models. Currently, MT-1207 is in phase II hypertensive clinical trials in China.

RESUMO

The vegetative insecticidal protein Vip3Aa from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has been produced by transgenic crops to counter pest resistance to the widely used crystalline (Cry) insecticidal proteins from Bt. To proactively manage pest resistance, there is an urgent need to better understand the genetic basis of resistance to Vip3Aa, which has been largely unknown. We discovered that retrotransposon-mediated alternative splicing of a midgut-specific chitin synthase gene was associated with 5,560-fold resistance to Vip3Aa in a laboratory-selected strain of the fall armyworm, a globally important crop pest. The same mutation in this gene was also detected in a field population. Knockout of this gene via CRISPR/Cas9 caused high levels of resistance to Vip3Aa in fall armyworm and 2 other lepidopteran pests. The insights provided by these results could help to advance monitoring and management of pest resistance to Vip3Aa.

RESUMO

Methanol is a valuable liquid C1 product in CO2 electroreduction (CO2ER); however, it is hard to achieve high selectivity and a large current density simultaneously. In this work, we construct Mn2+-doped VS2 multilayer nanowafers applied in a flow cell to yield methanol as a single liquid product to tackle this challenge. Mn doping adjusts the electronic structure of VS2 and concurrently introduces sulfur vacancies, forming a critical *COB intermediate and facilitating its sequential hydrogenation to methanol. The optimal Mn4.8%-VS2 exhibits methanol Faradic efficiencies of more than 60% over a wide potential range of -0.4 to -0.8 V in a flow cell, of which the maximal value is 72.5 ± 1.1% at -0.6 V along with a partial current density of 74.3 ± 1.1 mA cm-2. This work opens an avenue to rationally design catalysts for engineering C1 intermediates toward CO2ER to a single liquid methanol in a flow cell.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Anti-silencing function 1 (ASF1) is a conserved histone H3-H4 chaperone protein. ASF1B (Anti-Silencing Function 1B Histone Chaperone), a paralog of ASF1, is involved in tumor metabolism and growth. The regulatory network of ASF1B in cancer is intricate and remains inadequately explored. The objective of this study was to examine the biological role of ASF1B in bladder cancer (BC). METHODS: The presence of ASF1B in BC was examined using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) databases. In addition, a correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the association between the BC pathway scores and ASF1B. ASF1B expression in BC cells was detected using western blott and RT-PCR. Several investigations were conducted, both within and outside of a living organism, to confirm the involvement of ASF1B in the regulation of biological processes in BC cells. RESULTS: Our examination of the database indicates that ASF1B exhibits significant expression levels in BC cells and is potentially strongly associated with the growth of BC cells and the repair of DNA. The expression of ASF1B in BC cells was found to be significantly elevated, as indicated by the results of western blot and RT-PCR. The findings of the cell plate cloning test, edu analysis, flow cytometry, and transwell experiments demonstrated that the inhibition of ASF1B greatly impeded the proliferation and migration of BC cells. After establishing drug-resistant BC cell lines in a lab, suppressing ASF1B gene expression led to a notable reduction in BC cells' resistance to cisplatin. Confirmation was achieved by flow cytometry and western blott assays. Our in vivo findings demonstrated that the suppression of ASF1B resulted in an amelioration of the pathological condition, a decrease in resistance to cisplatin, and an inhibition of the growth of BC in mice.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) plasmids are novel alternatives to salvage limbs in patients with chronic limb threatening ischaemia (CLTI). A systematic review and meta-analysis of data were conducted to assess the therapeutic efficacy of HGF plasmids in patients with CLTI. DATA SOURCES: Randomised controlled studies evaluating HGF plasmid efficacy in patients with CLTI were identified using Medline, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases. REVIEW METHODS: Meta-analyses of the reported relative risks (RR) or mean differences (MD) were conducted. Subgroup analyses determined the efficacy of HGF plasmids in cohorts excluding Buerger's disease. Certainty of evidence for each outcome was assessed. RESULTS: Seven studies (n = 655) were included. Based on low certainty evidence, patients treated with HGF had a significantly higher complete ulcer healing rate (RR 1.99, 95% CI 1.30 - 3.04; p = .015) than patients treated with placebo. The HGF treatment was associated with reduced visual analogue scale (VAS) scores of pain severity (MD -1.56, 95% CI -2.12 - -1.00; p < .001) vs. placebo in patients with CLTI assessed at the 3 month follow up (low certainty evidence); no significant differences were observed in major amputation (RR 0.91, 95% CI 0.48 - 1.73; p = .77) (low certainty evidence), or all-cause mortality (RR 0.93, 95% CI 0.38 - 2.27; p = .87) (low certainty evidence) between patients treated with HGF and placebo. Low certainty evidence suggested no significant differences in change in ankle-brachial index at 6 months (MD 0.00, 95% CI -0.09 - 0.09; p = 1.0) between patients treated with HGF and placebo. The complete ulcer healing rate and improved 3 month VAS scores of pain severity benefits persisted in subgroup analyses (low certainty evidence). CONCLUSION: Hepatocyte growth factor treatment is associated with an increased complete ulcer healing rate and reduced ischaemic pain in patients with CLTI.

RESUMO

AIMS: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a progressive and incurable lung disease for which treatment options are limited. Here, we aimed to conduct an exploratory study on the effects of the Mongolian medicine Saorilao-4 (SRL) on the gut microbiota structure, species abundance, and diversity of a rat PF model as well as the mechanisms underlying such effects. METHODS AND RESULTS: Rat fecal samples were analyzed using 16S rRNA sequencing technology. Bioinformatic and correlation analyses were performed on microbiota data to determine significant associations. SRL substantially attenuated the adverse effects exerted by PF on the structure and diversity of gut microbiota while regulating its alpha and beta diversities. Linear discriminant analysis effect size enabled the identification of 62 differentially abundant microbial taxa. Gut microbiota abundance analysis revealed that SRL significantly increased the relative abundance of bacterial phyla such as Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. Moreover, SRL increased the proportion of beneficial bacteria, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteriales, decreased the proportion of pathogenic bacteria, such as Rikenellaceae, and balanced the gut microbiota by regulating metabolic pathways. CONCLUSIONS: SRL may attenuate PF by regulating gut microbiota. This exploratory study establishes the groundwork for investigating the metagenomics of PF.

RESUMO

In the early embryonic stages, Lin-28 homologue A (Lin28a) is highly expressed and declines as the embryo matures. As an RNA-binding protein, Lin28a maintains some adult muscle stem cells (MuSCs) in an embryonic-like state, but its RNA metabolism regulation mechanism remains unclear. BioGPS analysis revealed that Lin28a expression is significantly higher in muscle tissues than in other tissues. Lin28a-positive muscle stem cells (Lin28a+ MuSCs) were sorted from Lin28a-CreERT2; LSL-tdTomato mouse skeletal muscle tissue, which exhibited a higher proliferation rate than the control group. Lin28a-bound transcripts are enriched in various biological processes such as DNA repair, cell cycle, mitochondrial tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative stress response. The expression of insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (Igf2bp3) was markedly elevated in the presence of Lin28a. Co-immunoprecipitation analysis further demonstrated that Lin28a associates with Igf2bp3. Immunofluorescence analyses confirmed that Lin28a, Igf2bp3 and G3bp1 colocalize to form stress granules (SG), and N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification promotes the formation of Lin28a-SG. Sequencing of the transcriptome and RNAs immunoprecipitated by Lin28a, Igf2bp3 and m6A antibodies in Lin28a+ MuSCs further revealed that Lin28a and Igf2bp3 collaboratively regulate the expression of DNA repair-related genes, including Fancm and Usp1. Lin28a stabilises Igf2bp3, Usp1, and Fancm mRNAs, enhancing DNA repair against oxidative or proteotoxic stress, thus promoting MuSCs self-renewal. Understanding the intricate mechanisms through which Lin28a and Igf2bp3 regulate MuSCs provides a deeper understanding of stem cell self-renewal, with potential implications for regenerative medicine.

RESUMO

In order to understand the stability of the zooplankton and phytoplankton communities in the Guizhou plateau reservoir environment, the process of reservoir water quality change affecting the stability of plankton was studied. The changes in the plankton community and water quality in three different nutrient reservoirs (Huaxi Reservoir, Goupitan Reservoir, and Hailong Reservoir) were studied from October 2020 to August 2021. The stability of the zooplankton and phytoplankton communities was studied using time-lag analysis (TLA). Variance decomposition analysis (VPA) was used to explore the response of the two communities to environmental changes. The driving factors of plankton community changes in reservoirs were also revealed. The results showed that Huaxi Reservoir and Goupitan Reservoir were mesotrophic reservoirs, and Hailong Reservoir was a eutrophic reservoir. The average comprehensive nutrition indices of the three reservoirs were 44.07, 44.68, and 50.25. A total of 51 species of zooplankton rotifers, 39 species of rotifers, three species of copepods, and nine species of cladocera were identified. Among them, the abundance of rotifers was the highest, accounting for 85.96%. A total of seven phyla and 73 species of phytoplankton were identified, including 16 species in the phylum Cyanophyta, 32 species in the phylum Chlorophyta, 16 species in the phylum Diatoma, three species in the phylum Chlorophyta, four species in the phylum Euglenophyta, and one species each in the phyla Cryptophyta and Chrysophyta. Among them, the abundance of cyanobacteria and diatoms was the highest, accounting for 66.2% and 27.35%, respectively. The median absolute deviation (MAD) of the Bray-Curtis distance of zooplankton and phytoplankton community in the three reservoirs were 0.67 and 0.65 in Huaxi Reservoir, 0.80 and 0.69 in Goupitan Reservoir, and 0.85 and 0.47 in Hailong Reservoir, respectively. The larger the value, the greater the variation in the community. The absolute value of the slope of zooplankton was greater than that of phytoplankton in the TLA results, and the absolute values of the slopes were 0.018 and 0.004, respectively. The larger the absolute value of the slope, the faster the community variability. The zooplankton community in the three reservoirs was less stable than the phytoplankton community and more sensitive to environmental changes, and the degree of variation was greater. The higher the degree of eutrophication of the reservoir, the more obvious this phenomenon. VPA showed that the changes in plankton communities in Huaxi Reservoir and Hailong Reservoir were mainly influenced by water temperature and eutrophication factors. The changes in planktonic community in Goupitan Reservoir were mainly influenced by water temperature and chemical factors. The driving factors of Huaxi Reservoir were water temperature, TP, permanganate index, and SD. The driving factors of Goupitan Reservoir were water temperature, NO3-- N, and pH. The driving factors of Hailong Reservoir were water temperature and TP. Nutrients and water temperature were the main factors affecting the stability of plankton communities in reservoirs.

RESUMO

The emission of nitrous oxide (N2O) during wastewater treatment cannot be ignored. The analysis of statistical data from literature based on 126 empirical studies revealed that the geographical factors of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) had a significant impact on N2O emission factors. However, the N2O emission factors of WWTPs in all regions of the world were generally lower than the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recommended values. In China, the N2O emission factors (in N2O-N/Ninfluent) of WWTPs were approximately 0.000 35-0.065 20 kg·kg-1. Meanwhile, the N2O emission factors of different wastewater treatment processes were also significantly different, especially since the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) process had higher emissions. The use of uniform default emission factors for accounting was prone to overestimate N2O emissions, and it is recommended that countries conduct actual monitoring or modeling studies to develop categorical emission factors suitable for local conditions. In addition, the N2O emission factor based on total nitrogen (TN) removal was weakly negatively correlated with TN removal in 126 empirical data, which was more in line with bioprocessing stoichiometry and could provide an accurate accounting method for N2O. To this end, a digital twin model was developed to dynamically simulate a case anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic (AAO) WWTP to comprehensively quantify the dynamic emission behavior of N2O, which demonstrated that N2O emissions had significant seasonal and daily variability and were only equivalent to 11% of the calculated value of the emission factor based on the IPCC recommendation. Comparing the scatter linear fitting and categorical mean exponential fitting methods, it was found that the latter could more accurately reflect the negative correlation between the N2O emission factors and the TN removal rate, and an exponential regression equation between the average N2O emission factor based on the amount of TN removed and the TN removal rate was further developed to predict the N2O emission. The dynamic simulation and categorical index fitting methods provided in this study are important references for the accurate accounting of N2O emissions in similar WWTPs and provide help for understanding and responding to the N2O emission problems.

RESUMO

Quantifying and interpreting the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus is critical to achieve the sustainable development of urban resources. The mismatch between urban water, energy and food allocations is a prominent problem that is particularly acute in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) of China. In this study, models for the WEF coupling degree and coupling efficiency were constructed. The WEF coupling efficiencies of the 94 cities in the YRB from 2011 to 2020 were quantified using a data envelopment analysis (DEA) model. On this basis, the spatial distribution characteristics and evolutionary trends of different urban WEF coupling efficiencies were analysed and explored using an exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) model and a parametric kernel density estimation model. The results show that the energy subsystem constrain the development of the WEF nexus, and the food subsystem, in turn, regulates the development of the WEF nexus. In some years, the phenomenon of 'resource curse' occurred, in which the WEF coupling degree increased while the coupling efficiency decreased. Overall, the values of the urban WEF coupling efficiency were low, ranging from 0.5300 to 0.6300, which is not effective. Spatial clustering was detected in the urban WEF coupling efficiency. The clustering types were 'high-high' clustering areas in less developed regions and 'low-low' clustering areas in developed regions. The two clusters and the median contiguous group had different evolutionary trends. Both efficiency and polarisation increased in the high-clustering group, efficiency improved in the low-clustering group, and a new efficiency pole was formed in the median contiguous group. Among the three grouped cities, we discuss the potential of policies such as cross-city cooperation, intra-city multi-sectoral cooperation and cultivating new central growth cities to improve the WEF coupling efficiency in the YRB.

RESUMO

Introduction: Population-level competition and spatial patterns may explain the role of competitive exclusion in communities, which is important for vegetation restoration and biodiversity conservation. Methods: We analyzed the competitive intensity, spatial patterns, and renewal of Populus euphratica Oliv. forests in the Tarim River Basin using the Hegyi competition index and spatial point pattern analysis in a completely random model with different habitats and different forest ages. Results: The greatest competitive distance for P. euphratica was 10 m, and the intensity of competition steadily decreased as the diameter increased. The intensity of intraspecific and interspecific competition in young, mature, and old P. euphratica forests was as follows: riverside habitat > transitional habitat > desert margin habitat. The Simpson index values for the three habitats decreased as follows: transitional > riverside > desert margin, and the Shannon-Wiener index and Pielou index values decreased as follows: riverside > transitional > desert margin. In the riverside habitat, the young P. euphratica forest experienced the greatest competitive intensity, the mature forest in the transitional habitat was the largest, and the forest in the desert margin habitat was the oldest. Competitive intensity was greatest in the young riverside P. euphratica forest, mature P. euphratica forest in the transitional habitat, and old forest in the desert margin. Riverside P. euphratica experienced strong competition from Populus pruinosa. Competitive exclusion caused P. pruinosa to disappear from the transitional and desert margin habitats. Young, mature, and old P. euphratica forests were randomly distributed along the riverside and in the transitional habitat, while mature and old P. euphratica forests were randomly distributed in the desert margin. Populus pruinosa, Tamarix ramosissima, and Tamarix hispida were mainly randomly distributed, and T. ramosissima and T. hispida were clustered at small scales. In the riverside habitat, young, mature, and old P. euphratica had no spatial correlation, and there was a significant negative correlation at small scales in the transitional habitat. The density of P. euphratica seedlings in the riverside habitat was greater than that in the transitional habitat, and greater competitive pressures on P. euphratica tree seedlings caused a lower renewal density. Conclusions: When planting P. euphratica forests, spacing greater than 10 m can effectively reduce stand competition and thus promote seedling regeneration.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Spindle cell carcinoid tumor (SCCT) is a rare variant of lung carcinoid tumor consisting predominantly or exclusively of spindle cells. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first study to date investigating the molecular characteristics of SCCTs. METHODS: Eighty-five carcinoid tumors initially diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration over a period of 10 years were reviewed. The final diagnostic classification was based on resection specimens. Six SCCTs were identified and characterized based on cytomorphology, and immunohistochemical and molecular features. RESULTS: Most patients with SCCT were Caucasian (100.0%), women (83.3%), asymptomatic (66.7%), and nonsmokers (83.3%). The median age at diagnosis was 78.0 years (range, 58.2-80.3 years). A higher proportion of patients who had SCCT were diagnosed with distant metastasis. The smears were cellular and demonstrated clean backgrounds without necrosis or mitotic activity. SCCTs comprised of bipolar-to-elongated cells with finely granular chromatin, inconspicuous nucleoli, scant cytoplasm, and minimal atypia or pleomorphism. The tumor cells sometimes appeared boomerang-shaped and might mimic granulomas or blood vessels. SCCTs showed strong expression for pan-cytokeratin, synaptophysin, chromogranin, and CD56, with weak TTF-1 and a very low Ki-67 proliferation index. All SCCTs had low tumor mutational burden and were microsatellite-stable. One case showed multiple whole-gene losses in chromosome 11, whereas another harbored duplication in ARID1A. Two cases demonstrated gains in chromosomes 17, one of which also showed gains in chromosome 18. None had a single nucleotide mutation. CONCLUSIONS: SCCT is a rare subset of lung carcinoid tumors. These tumors harbor unique cytologic, prognostic, and molecular features that may have significant diagnostic and clinical implications.

RESUMO

Arsenic is a toxic element widely distributed in the Earth's crust and ranked as a class I human carcinogen. Microbial metabolism makes significant contributions to arsenic detoxification, migration and transformation. Nowadays, research on arsenic is primarily in areas affected by arsenic pollution associated with human health activities. However, the biogeochemical traits of arsenic in the global marine ecosystem remain to be explicated. In this study, we revealed that seawater environments were primarily governed by the process of arsenate reduction to arsenite, while arsenite methylation was predominant in marine sediments which may serve as significant sources of arsenic emission into the atmosphere. Significant disparities existed in the distribution patterns of the arsenic cycle between surface and deep seawaters at middle and low latitudes, whereas these situations tend to be similar in the Arctic and Antarctic oceans. Significant variations were also observed in the taxonomic diversity and core microbial community of arsenic cycling across different marine environments. Specifically, γ-proteobacteria played a pivotal role in the arsenic cycle in the whole marine environment. Temperature, dissolved oxygen and phosphate were the crucial factors that related to these differentiations in seawater environments. Overall, our study contributes to a deeper understanding of the marine arsenic cycle.

RESUMO

The pathogenesis of neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) and mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNEN) in the gastrointestinal tract remains poorly understood. This study seeks to characterize the clinicopathologic and molecular features of NEC/MiNEN in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Eighteen surgically resected IBD-associated intestinal carcinomas with a minimum of 30% neuroendocrine component were collected from 6 academic centers and compared to a control group of 12 IBD-associated carcinomas lacking neuroendocrine differentiation. Both groups exhibited a male predominance and similar age distribution. The NEC/MiNEN group was more likely to have a higher percentage of Crohn's disease (9/18 vs. 1/12, P=0.024), occur in the rectum (9/18 vs. 3/12) and small intestine (4/18 vs. 0/12) (P<0.01), be diagnosed on resection without a preceding biopsy (6/18 vs. 0/12, P=0.057), and have unidentifiable precursor lesions (10/18 vs. 1/12, P=0.018) than the control group. Synchronous carcinoma, advanced tumor stage (pT3 and pT4), and lymph node metastasis occurred at similar rates; however, the NEC/MiNEN group had a higher incidence of angiovascular invasion (14/18 vs. 4/12, P=0.024), distant metastasis (8/18 vs. 1/12, P=0.049), mortality (8/18 vs. 2/12, P=0.058), and worse survival (Kaplan-Meier, P=0.023) than the control group. All tested cases were mismatch repair proficient. A Ki-67 proliferation index ranged from 25% to 100%. Next-generation sequencing in 11 NEC/MiNEN cases revealed low tumor mutational burdens but complex genetic abnormalities commonly involving TP53 (9/11, 82%), FBXW7 (4/11, 36%), and APC (3/11, 27%), with the other genetic alterations randomly occurring in one or two cases. The neuroendocrine component, which shared similar molecular alterations as the non-neuroendocrine component, was subcategorized into intermediate (G3a)- and high-grade (G3b); the higher-grade correlated with more genetic alterations. In conclusion, IBD-associated NEC/MiNEN shows diverse histologic features, variable precursor lesions, intricate genetic abnormalities, and aggressive biologic behavior. The classification and grading of GI-NEC/MiNEN may be refined for better clinical management.

RESUMO

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become a hot spot in the area of functional materials and have undergone rapid development in a wide range of fields in the 21st century. However, the scalable application of MOFs is still constrained by high production cost at the front end. Additionally, systematic discussion of the reuse of spent MOFs is lacking. Encouragingly, an increasing number of studies have been focusing on the low-cost production and recycling of MOF-based materials, providing feasible solutions for resource recovery and reduction. To stimulate future enthusiasm and interest in realizing the blue economy of MOFs, ranging from front-end production to terminal disposal, we have presented and summarized the state-of-the-art progress in the sustainable synthesis, separation, and reuse of MOFs. Based on the existing challenges, we also propose fit-for-purpose future directions in the MOF field to move toward blue economy.

RESUMO

The Internet of Things communication protocol is prone to security vulnerabilities when facing increasing types and scales of network attacks, which can affect the communication security of the Internet of Things. It is crucial to effectively detect these vulnerabilities in order to improve the security of IoT communication protocols and promptly fix them. Therefore, this study proposes a distributed IoT communication protocol vulnerability detection method based on an improved parallelized fuzzy testing algorithm. Firstly, based on design principles and by comparing different communication protocols, a communication architecture for the distribution network's Internet of Things was constructed, and the communication protocols were formalized and decomposed. Next, preprocess the vulnerability detection samples, and then use genetic algorithm to improve the parallelized fuzzy testing algorithm to perform vulnerability detection. Through this improved algorithm, the missed detection rate and false detection rate can be effectively reduced, thereby improving the security of IoT communication protocols. The experimental results show that the highest missed detection rate of this method is only 4.0 %, and the false detection rate is low, with high detection efficiency. This indicates that the method has good performance and reliability in detecting vulnerabilities in IoT communication protocols.

RESUMO

Superhydrophobic surfaces are of great interest because of their remarkable properties. Due to its maximal hardness and chemical inertness, diamond film has great potential in fabricating robust superhydrophobic surfaces. In the present study, an oxygen-terminated polycrystalline boron-doped diamond (O-PBDD) superhydrophobic surface with micro/nano-hierarchical porous structures is developed. The preparation method is very simple, requiring only sputtering and dewetting procedures. The former involves sputtering gold and copper particles onto the hydrogen-terminated polycrystalline boron-doped diamond (H-PBDD) to form gold/copper films, whereas the latter involves placing the samples in an atmospheric tube furnace to form hierarchical pores. By controlling the etching parameters, the wettability of the O-PBDD surface can be adjusted from hydrophilic to superhydrophobic, which is significantly different to the normal hydrophilicity feature of O-termination diamonds. The water contact angle of the obtained O-PBDD surface can reach 165 ± 5°, which is higher than the superhydrophobic diamond surfaces that are reported in the literature. In addition, the O-PBDD surface exhibits excellent durability; it can maintain satisfactory superhydrophobicity even after high-pressure, high-temperature, and sandpaper friction tests. This work provides a new research direction for fabricating robust superhydrophobic materials with diamond film.
