RESUMO

This study focuses on predicting the dynamic viscosity of nanofluids, specifically Polyalpha-Olefin-hexagonal boron nitride (PAO-hBN) using machine learning models. The primary goal of this research is to assess and contrast the effectiveness of three distinct machine learning models: Support Vector Regression (SVR), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The main objective is the identification of a model that demonstrates the highest level of accuracy in predicting a nanofluid's viscosity namely, PAO-hBN nanofluids. The models were trained and validated using 540 experimental data points, where the mean square error (MSE) and the coefficient of determination R2 were utilized for performance evaluation. The results demonstrated that all three models could predict the viscosity of PAO-hBN nanofluids accurately, but the ANFIS and ANN models outperformed the SVR model. The ANFIS and ANN models had similar performance, but the ANN model was preferred due to its faster training and computation time. The optimized ANN model had an R2 of 0.99994, which indicates a high level of accuracy in predicting the viscosity of PAO-hBN nanofluids. The elimination of the shear rate parameter from the input layer improved the accuracy of the ANN model to an absolute relative error of less than 1.89% over the full temperature range (-19.7 °C-70 °C) compared to 11% in the traditional correlation-based model. These results suggest that the use of machine learning models can significantly improve the accuracy of predicting the viscosity of PAO-hBN nanofluids. Overall, this study demonstrated that the use of machine learning models, specifically ANN, can be effective in predicting PAO-hBN nanofluids' dynamic viscosity. The findings provide a new perspective on how to predict the thermodynamic properties of nanofluids with high accuracy, which could have important applications in various industries.

RESUMO

We performed a prospective field study in the village of Kafer Daoud in Menofia, Egypt to compare the fecal culture method with enzyme linked immuno assay (ELISA) for detection of 170 kDa lectin antigen in feces for diagnosis of asymptomatic Entamoeba histolytica and Entamoeba dispar infection. All subjects with E. histolytica or E. dispar infection detected by culture also had positive ELISA for amebic antigen in their feces and an additional 57 Entameoba infections missed by culture were detected by ELISA (P < 0.001 compared to culture). The presence of fecal anti-lectin IgA antibodies and serum anti-LC3 (recombinant cysteine-rich lectin protein) IgG antibodies were positive predictors for E. histolytica infection (P < 0.03). Of interest, infection with Trichomonas hominis but not Blastocystis hominis was positively associated with E. histolytica infection (P < 0.05). In conclusion, ELISA for detection of fecal lectin antigen is a more sensitive method than fecal culture for detecting asymptomatic E. histolytica infection.

RESUMO

Cell mediated immune response (CMIR) was studies in 120 patients having chronic liver diseases. Patients were divided into 6 groups, (20 each). (1) Early hepatosplenic Schistosomiasis. (EHSS), (2) Late hepatosplenic Schistosomiasis. (LHSS), (3) Hepatosplenic Schistosomiasis with hepatitis B and/or C infections, (4) Hepatitis B virus cases. (HBV), (5) Hepatitis C virus cases (HCV), (6) Hepatocellular carcinoma cases. (HCC). Twenty within normal subjects taken as controls. Laboratory investigations revealed significant esinophilia in patients of group (1), haemoglobin level was significantly reduced in patients of group (1, 2, 3, & 6), serum albumin was significantly reduced in group (2). The percentage of positivity of skin testing using purified protein derivative, ranged between 10% of patients with LHSS, HBV, HCC and HSS with HBV and/or HCV, 20% of patients with HCV and 25% of patients with EHSS. Percentage of positivity in control group was 100%. The mean diameter of delayed intradermal reaction (2.2 +/- 0.5-6.1 +/- 2.1 mms.) was significantly lower in patients than controls. The response of lymphocyte transformation test to phytohaemmagglutinin was significantly lower in patients when compared to controls. The association of HBV and/or HCV with hepatosplenomegaly was accompanied with a marked depression in cell mediated immune response. Anaemia, hypoalbuminemia and nutritional status of the patients with chronic liver diseases play a major role in the suppression of cell mediated immune response.

RESUMO

One hundred and fifty patients with active Schistosomiasis haematobium were chosen from Azizia village an endemic area. 50 healthy controls of the same age and sex groups were chosen. Patients were subjected to complete clinical and laboratory examination. Praziquantel orally in a dose of 40 mg/kg was given to each individual and its therapeutic efficacy was assessed by comparing the results of the previous investigations before and 3 months after treatment. The highest infection intensity was noticed in the small age group (A). There was a statistically significant increase of haematuria in this group, dysunia in middle age (B) and increase frequency of micturition & suprapubic tenderness in older age group (C). Ultrasonography showed partial calcification of bladder in 18% of cases in group A, 28% of cases in group B; in group C the percentage was 32% with 14% hydronephrosis, bladder mass 2%, stone bladder & ureter 6%. After praziquantel therapy there was a statistically significant (1) Reduction in haematuria, dysuria increase frequency and suprapubic tenderness (Z less than 1.96). (2) reduction of mean egg count in urine (3) significant improvement of Hb% (4) bladder calcifications showed partial improvement.

RESUMO

This study was done on 45 patients with bilharzial hepatosplenomegaly and active bilharzial infection classified into 3 groups. The first group was given oral oxamniquine 2nd group was given oral praziquantel, the third group was left as control. It was proved that praziquantel gave a remarkable decrease in portal vein diameter and regression of the size of enlarged liver and spleen but oxaminiquine had no significant effect on the portal vein diameter and liver profile.
