RESUMO

Tuberculous empyema is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection of the pleural cavity, resulting in purulent pleural fluid formation. Tuberculous empyema most commonly develops in patients with tuberculous pleuritis treated with artificial pneumothorax. However, it can also develop in patients with chronic tuberculous pleuritis, usually in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis treated with antituberculous chemotherapy. Scoliosis is a three-dimensional spine deformity caused by several factors, including genetic susceptibility, anterior and posterior spinal development imbalance, and connective tissue abnormalities (skeletal muscle and nerves). Although surgery is the most talked-about treatment option, there is high-quality evidence suggesting the use of conservative therapy in the management of scoliosis. A systematic rehabilitation plan with a variety of approaches was developed, and it was found to be a highly successful protocol for treating the patient's empyema and scoliosis.

A relatively recurrent inflammatory disease that is autoimmune, affecting the tissue that lines the joints and tendons, is rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Genome-wide association research has discovered additional genetic markers. The cornerstones of current RA care strategies include anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals, disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, joint protection and energy conservation, exercise, assistive devices, splinting, orthotics, and surgical treatment. Cardiovascular ailment is still the leading cause of mortality, and those with autoimmune diseases are far more likely to have cardiovascular disease. We present a case of RA with a history of hypothyroidism, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. She has also taken Ayurveda treatment panchakarma for the same. Physiotherapy interventions included resistance training and aerobic exercises, which showed appreciable results on the Numeric Pain Rating Scale and Multidimensional Health Assessment Questionnaire.

Pleural effusion is the accumulation of extra fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs, also known as water on the lungs. Pleura are thin membranes that lubricate and aid breathing by lining the lungs and the inside of the chest cavity. The pleural space typically contains only a few teaspoons of watery fluid, which enables the lungs to move easily inside the chest cavity when breathing. Several barriers limited the patient's capacity to carry out daily activities successfully and efficiently. Loculated effusions are most frequently associated with diseases such as empyema, hemothorax, or tuberculosis that result in severe pleural inflammation. Hence, a physiotherapy program is started to help improve the patient's symptoms. A 59-year-old male presented to the hospital with the chief complaint of left-sided chest pain, fever, and breathlessness. On the Modified Medical Research Council dyspnea scale, breathlessness was grade 3.

Introduction COVID-19 is an infectious illness that first appeared in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and subsequently spread over the entire world. Those who were affected suffered from fever, cough, weakness, and breathlessness, along with the probability of developing pneumonia which sometimes leads to respiratory failure. The older population with co-morbidities was at higher risk. Methods In this experimental study, 59 subjects with COVID-19 were included according to pre-decided inclusion and exclusion criteria. Pre-vitals before the treatment were noted such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation (SPO2), and then the chest proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) technique was given as a treatment regime, and its immediate effect was calculated. Post-vitals were noted immediately after the treatment session. The statistical analysis was made using the student's paired t-test. Results We found a mean difference of 9.45±5.27 in heart rate before and after the intervention provided which is suggestive of a statistically significant increase within normal limits. Also, the mean value of respiratory rate immediately after the intervention was shown as 22.91 and pre-intervention was 19.18 with a mean difference of 2.93±3.95, showing a statistically significant increase in respiratory rate. Additionally, the mean value of SPO2 immediately after the intervention was shown as 92.76 and pre-intervention was 94.64 and had a mean difference of 1.88±1.67 suggestive of high improvement in oxygen saturation immediately after the intervention. Conclusion The present study concludes from the available statistical analysis that chest PNF techniques such as intercostal stretch and anterior basal stretch lift have an immediate impact on improvement in oxygen saturation in COVID-19 patients and can be incorporated as an inpatient treatment regime in the rehabilitation protocol.

It has been suggested that regular physical activity has become a part of rehabilitation in controlling blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. In type 2 diabetes mellitus the cells become resistant to insulin, which leads to elevated blood glucose over time and leads to prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The typical adult's blood contains about 5-10 grams of glucose when their blood glucose content is 100 milligrams per decilitre. About half a billion individuals are at risk for diabetes worldwide. Physical exercise has been proved to be better therapy for controlling blood glucose in persons at risk for diabetes, preventing further body complications. Three significant interests in exercising to delay the onset of T2DM. First, increased blood flow into the muscle is triggered by skeletal muscle activity, which promotes glucose absorption from the bloodstream. Second, it reduces abdominal adipose tissue, a well-known risk of metabolic disease. Third, physical exercise with moderate intensity has been proven to boost glucose uptake by 40 percent. Globally and in developing nations like India, the burden of diabetes is expanding, attributable to a rise in overweight/obesity and sedentary lifestyles. It is difficult to provide healthcare for diseases like diabetes since it requires a consistent commitment to the prescribed course of treatment. Based on the correlation between fasting plasma glucose (FPG) or hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and retinopathy, cut-off values for glucose and HbA1c are estimated.
