RESUMO

Magnetic semiconductors with high critical temperature have long been the focus in materials science and are also known as one of the fundamental questions in two-dimensional (2D) materials. Based on density functional theory calculations, we predict a 2D spin-gapless ferromagnetic semiconductor of CrGa2Se4 monolayer, in which the type of spin-polarized current can be tuned by tailoring the Fermi energy. Moreover, the magnetic anisotropy energy calculations indicate that the CrGa2Se4 monolayer possesses spin anisotropy both in the basal plane and the vertical plane. This originates from the distortion-induced rearrangement of the 3d electrons in the CrSe6 octahedron and results in an inclined easy axis out of the film. The Curie temperature (Tc) of ferromagnetic phase transition for 2D CrGa2Se4 is more than 200 K. This 2D material shows promising transport properties for spintronics applications and is also important for fundamental research in 2D magnetism.

RESUMO

Red-peeled huyou has a distinct red peel color due mainly to the presence of red apocarotenoid ß-citraurin as well as the increase in amount of total carotenoids. The expression level of carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase 4b1 (CCD4b1) accounted for 99.0% of total transcript abundance of CCD4s in red-peeled huyou peel and was nearly 100 times higher than that in ordinary huyou. ß-Citraurin accumulation and peel coloration was mostly favored at 15 °C but strongly inhibited at moderately high temperatures 20 °C and 25 °C. Exogenous ethylene application for 3 d had no obvious effect on ß-citraurin accumulation in red-peeled huyou but holding fruit at moderately higher temperatures (20 °C and 25 °C) for 3 d had a significant adverse effect on ß-citraurin accumulation. The expression of phytoene synthase 1 (PSY1) and CCD4b1 was higher at 10 °C and 15 °C and significantly lower at 20 °C and 25 °C. The mechanisms governing the accumulation of ß-citraurin are discussed.

RESUMO

Plastids are sites for carotenoid biosynthesis and accumulation, but detailed information on fruit plastid development and its relation to carotenoid accumulation remains largely unclear. Here, using Baisha (BS; white-fleshed) and Luoyangqing (LYQ; red-fleshed) loquat (Eriobotrya japonica), a detailed microscopic analysis of plastid development during fruit ripening was carried out. In peel cells, chloroplasts turned into smaller chromoplasts in both cultivars, and the quantity of plastids in LYQ increased by one-half during fruit ripening. The average number of chromoplasts per peel cell in fully ripe fruit was similar between the two cultivars, but LYQ peel cell plastids were 20% larger and had a higher colour density, associated with the presence of larger plastoglobules. In flesh cells, chromoplasts could be observed only in LYQ during the middle and late stages of ripening, and the quantity on a per-cell basis was higher than that in peel cells, but the size of chromoplasts was smaller. It was concluded that chromoplasts are derived from the direct conversion of chloroplasts to chromoplasts in the peel, and from de novo differentiation of proplastids into chromoplasts in flesh. The relationship between plastid development and carotenoid accumulation is discussed.
