RESUMO

Biologically plausible computing systems require fine-grain tuning of analog synaptic characteristics. In this study, lithium-doped silicate resistive random access memory with a titanium nitride (TiN) electrode mimicking biological synapses is demonstrated. Biological plausibility of this RRAM device is thought to occur due to the low ionization energy of lithium ions, which enables controllable forming and filamentary retraction spontaneously or under an applied voltage. The TiN electrode can effectively store lithium ions, a principle widely adopted from battery construction, and allows state-dependent decay to be reliably achieved. As a result, this device offers multi-bit functionality and synaptic plasticity for simulating various strengths in neuronal connections. Both short-term memory and long-term memory are emulated across dynamical timescales. Spike-timing-dependent plasticity and paired-pulse facilitation are also demonstrated. These mechanisms are capable of self-pruning to generate efficient neural networks. Time-dependent resistance decay is observed for different conductance values, which mimics both biological and artificial memory pruning and conforms to the trend of the biological brain that prunes weak synaptic connections. By faithfully emulating learning rules that exist in human's higher cortical areas from STDP to synaptic pruning, the device has the capacity to drive forward the development of highly efficient neuromorphic computing systems.

RESUMO

Objective: Some lines of evidence show that D2/D3 receptor partial agonist pramipexole may be effective in the treatment of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) and psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia. Therefore, we analyzed whether a low dose of pramipexole (0.375-0.75 mg/day) has efficacy on EPS and symptoms of schizophrenia while maintaining tolerability. Methods: Ten subjects with EPS [including drug-induced parkinsonism (DIP) and akathisia] were recruited in a stage-1, open-label pilot study. All the subjects were treated with a low dose of pramipexole. The evaluations were performed at baseline, day 3, week 1, week 2, week 4, week 6, and week 8. The ratings of SAS, BARS, PANSS, CDSS, and CGI-S and adverse effects (AE) were recorded in every visit. Results: SAS total scores decreased significantly during the study in patients with DIP (P<0.001), and mild AEs were detected. Treatments with pramipexole did not show an anti-akathisia effect during the study, while 2 subjects experienced deterioration of akathisia and mood symptoms. The psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia showed a trend of improvement during the study, but there was no improvement in depressive mood. Conclusion: A low dose of pramipexole can significantly relieve antipsychotic-induced parkinsonism, but not akathisia. Improvements in psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia were found, but the results of this study need to be validated in a larger sample. No improvement of mood disorder was detected.

RESUMO

A novel two dimensional coordination polymer [Eu(PCPOA)3 (H2O)], was synthesized under hydrothermal condition. Based on the determination of the structure, the 2D correlation FTIR spectra with the perturbation of magnetism and the 2D correlation fluorescence spectra with the perturbation of temperature were investigated. The energy bonds were calculated using CASTEP Program of Material studio. The Europium ions are nine-coordinated and the ligands adopted two different modes to connect the Eu3+ ions to 2D layer structure. The study of the 2D-FTIR reveals that the carboxylates coordinate with the center ions not only as monodentate, but also as bidentate chelate. The 2D fluorescence spectra indicates that the transition of (5)D0-->(7)F2 is influenced intensively by the perturbation of temperature.
