RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) with interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) rearrangement (LBCL-IRF4) is a rare subtype of LBCL, with a high prevalence in Waldeyer's ring as well as the neck, head and gastrointestinal lymph nodes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A patient with 2-month clinical symptoms of nasal obstruction and facial swelling was reported in this short review. A nasal endoscopy examination revealed a neoplasm in the inferior nasal meatus. Both CT and enhanced MRI showed that a soft tissue occupied the nasolacrimal duct, with bone destruction, and extended into the left nasal cavity and left lacrimal gland area. Then, a biopsy of the neoplasm in the inferior nasal meatus was performed. RESULTS: HE staining results showed that neoplastic cells presented diffuse growth patterns, abundant cytoplasm, vacuole shape, lightly stained nuclei, and irregular nuclear membrane. Immunohistochemistry staining results revealed MUM1(+), Bcl6(+), CD20(+), CD79α(+), and CD10(+). FISH analyses detected positive IRF4 rearrangement. LBCL-IRF4 was diagnosed in the patient. The patient received treatment with four cycles of R-CHOP and two times of rituximab, followed up for 2 years, and finally got complete remission. CONCLUSION: For the first time, we summarize the imaging and pathological features, drug treatment, and curative effect of LBCL-IRF4 in the nasolacrimal duct.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Transportation noise is second only to air pollution as an environmental contributor to adverse health outcomes in Western countries. However, no studies investigated the association between road traffic noise and behavioral problems among schoolchildren in China. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association between exposure to road traffic noise at home and behavioral problems in Chinese schoolchildren. METHODS: From January to June 2017, we screened 3236 children aged 7-13 years in Guangzhou (Guangdong, China) from the first investigation of an ongoing school-based cohort study with complete information on behavioral problems and residential geolocation. Residential road traffic noise exposure levels were assessed using a validated modeling method in different periods of the day, including daytime (Lday), nighttime (Lnight), and weighted 24-hr (Ldn). The annual mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide was also modeled in our study. Behavioral problems were assessed by the parent-rated Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Generalized linear mixed models were utilized to estimate the associations between road traffic noise and behavioral problems. RESULTS: In the main adjusted model, a 10-dB increase in Ldn was associated with 0.33 (95% CI: 0.08, 0.59), 0.08 (95% CI: -0.01, 0.17), and 0.09 (95% CI: 0.01, 0.16) increases in three subscales score for total difficulties score, emotional problems, and conduct problems, respectively. The same increase in Ldn was also associated with the abnormal total difficulties score (OR = 1.25, 95%CI: 1.01, 1.55), emotional problems (OR = 1.19, 95%CI: 0.98, 1.44), and conduct problems (OR = 1.28, 95%CI:1.02, 1.63). Externalising behavior appears more susceptible to traffic noise than internalising behavior. NO2 had a small impact on the associations between Ldn and behavioral problems. Our estimates were generally robust in several sensitivity analyses. CONCLUSION: Residential road traffic noise exposure might be related to increased behavioral problems in Chinese schoolchildren, such as emotional symptoms and conduct problems.

RESUMO

A zinc(II) porphyrin derivative (ZPSN) was designed and synthesized, and this probe exhibited rapid, selective and reversible binding to Cu+ for fluorescence monitoring in pure aqueous buffer. The detection mechanism is based on Cu+-activated disruption of axial coordination between the pyridyl ligand and the zinc center, which changes the molecular geometry and inhibits intramolecular electron transfer (ET), leading to fluorescence enhancement of the probe. The proposed sensing mechanism was supported by UV-vis spectroscopy/fluorescence spectral titration, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and time-resolved fluorescence decay studies. The dissociation constant was calculated to be 6.53 × 10-11 M. CLSM analysis strongly suggested that ZPSN could penetrate live cells and successfully visualize Cu+ in mitochondria. This strategy may establish a design and offer a potential building block for construction of other metal sensors based on a similar mechanism.

RESUMO

The cDNA of GmsSOS1, a putative plasma membrane Na(+)/H(+) antiporter gene isolated from Glycine max, Glycine soja, and their hybrid, was constructed into plant expression vector pCAMBIA 1300 and then transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens under the control of CaMV 35S promoter to Arabidopsis thaliana wild-type (WT) and mutant (atsos1-1) plants. By hygromycin resistance detection and PCR analysis, transgenic plants (WT35S:GmsSOS1 and atsos1-1 35S:GmsSOS1) were obtained. Seed germination, seedling growth, and Na(+) contents in roots and shoots were analytically compared among WT, atsos1-1 mutant, and their transgenic lines under salt stress. The results showed that when GmsSOS1 was integrated into the genome of A. thaliana, the inhibitions of salt stress on seed germination and seedling growth were all significantly improved, and enhanced salt tolerance was displayed, which may be attributed to the decrease of Na(+) absorption in roots and transportation in shoots of the transgenic lines, especially for that of atsos1-1 mutant.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To establish a rapid identification method for fruit drugs of Rosaceae, according to the influence of Chinese traditional medicine on the electrochemical oscillation reaction. METHODS: The experiments were carried out in H2SO4-Ce (SO4)2-CH2 (COOH)2-KBrO3 electrochemical oscillation system. The graphs and characteristic parameters which were formed by the disturbance of Rosaceous fruit drugs to the electrochemical oscillation reaction were studied. RESULTS: There were obvious distinction on the electrochemical fingerprints of five kinds of medicinal materials, and the characteristic parameters of oscillation life were significant different. CONCLUSION: The electrochemical fingerprints of five kinds of Rosaceous fruit drugs can be used to identify those medicinal materials. The method is simple, rapid, economic and reliable.

RESUMO

The title compound, C(14)H(15)BrN(2)O(2), an inter-mediate in drug discovery, was synthesized by the reaction of 5-bromo-pyridin-2-amine and 3,4-dimeth-oxy-benzaldehyde. In the crystal, molecules are linked via pairs ofN-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of inversion dimers. A short contact occurs between the aryl H atom (ortho position from N) and the centroid of the benzene ring.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To detect the concentration of endogenous agmatine in normal and injured rats' spinal cord. METHODS: Forty-two SD rats were randomized to sham-operation group and 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours after operation groups. The modified Allen's model of spinal cord injury was established. The endogenous agmatine was detected both in normal and injured rats' spinal cord by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detection and OPA derivatization. RESULTS: The endogenous agmatine level in naive rats' spinal cord were (0.643 +/- 0.111) microg/g wet weight. After spinal cord injury, the concentration had a transient drop followed by significantly increase, and then decreased by degrees. CONCLUSION: Up to now, little has been known about the endogenous agmatine levels in mammalian tissues. The results reported by different authors varied up to hundred times. According to our results and other articles, the endogenous agmatine levels in mammals' central nervous system arranged from 0.2 microg/g to 1.1 microg/g wet weight. Although there was a significant increase after spinal cord injury, the peak concentration was extremely lower than what it needed to take its neuroprotective effect in vitro.
