The authors have presented methods of treatment in patients with recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis after thyroid surgery including pharmacology, physiotherapy, phoniatric rehabilitation and phonosurgery.

The authors have presented results of otolaryngologic and phoniatric examination of 504 patients after thyroid surgery. 39 patients (7.74%) with recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis were qualified for thorough phoniatric investigation.

[Laryngological and phoniatric estimation of theological seminary alumni]. / Ocena laryngologiczna i foniatryczna alumnów seminarium duchownego.

Laryngological and phoniatric examinations were carried out in 130 alumni from theological seminary. The authors estimated their ability to serve the mass in the future. In 71 (54.6%) cases various pathologies of the ear, nose, oral cavity, pharynx and laryngx were found, which allowed for their early treatment and rehabilitation. It also helped to settle the limitations of their future ministration.

The authors presented a case of big stone of palatine tonsil surgical treated successfully. Qualitative and quantitative examination of tonsillith chemical composition was carried out with a LINK 90 spectrometer. It was found that the main components were calcium (Ca/K alpha), (Ca/K beta) about 60% and phosphorus (P) about 30%. Potassium (K), chlorine (Cl), sulphur (S), aluminum (Al and magnesium (Mg) were found in trace amounts.

The authors carried out a study of thyroid function determining the levels of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) in the serum of 60 patients (33 men, 27 women) between 31-79 years with Reinke's edema who had been treated microsurgically and phoniatrically. Hypothyroidism was found in one patient (a teacher, 47 years old, smoker). The study suggests that hypothyroidism is not an aetiological factor in the development Reinke's edema, which is in accordance with what other authors report.
